  1. That double foul call earlier brought back some bad memories. Gonna lose to an OU team without Crocker and Warren. Nice comeback, but I'm really tired of losing.
  2. This is embarrassing.
  3. South Carolina fined $25,000 by SEC for storming the court
  4. Physically impossible for Federer to lose before the semifinals. Either that or Davydenko is fixing matches again.
  5. I'm pulling for the Saints here, but the PI and last review were terrible.
  6. Caldwell is a terrible decision maker/game manager.
  7. Best game we've played since Temple. It was against a depleted ISU, admittedly. But Hilton is a tough place to play, and they gave UT a very rough game, so I don't think I was freaking out over nothing. Marcus Morris is looking better and better. Aldrich looked like himself again, and it was against a pretty decent frontline. Taylor also played better. Just need X to recapture the magic. Should be a tough game vs Mizzou on Monday, but I think we'll win going away. Saturday vs KSU will be bananas. Only positive for ISU today: Other than that this team is awful.
  8. so annoyed with mcdermott right now. very sick of his "we'll play with the guys that want to be here" attitude. go back to the missouri valley to coach scrappy white guys that hustle. you need more than that to win in the B12. sounds like colvin's suspension may end early which is pretty embarrassing. Yikes: Is Mac going to be gone after this year? Unless he turns it around I think he should be. We're just not winning basketball games. You can blame it on players leaving to a point, but after the first 10 guys leave you have to ask if there's a bigger problem here. It's not like he doesn't have talent now, Brackins and Gilstrap are both projected to be drafted this year and the supporting cast isn't completely incompetent. Yet there's still a decent chance they finish with a losing record this season. I don't think it's reasonable for a coach at a major conference school that has any sort of history to have 4 losing seasons in a row, 1 win over a tournament team (Purdue two years ago), and not be on the hot seat. That said, he got an extension at some point, so I'm not sure he can be bought out this year. He'll probably get next year, but I don't know how he'll improve without Brackins (if he declares) and Gilstrap (if he doesn't get an extra year).
  9. For a road game, losing by 7 to Tech isn't so bad since I think ISU isn't so much different a team than Tech. Especially for the first game without Staiger. Please give Kansas a battle on Saturday so they're worn down come Monday. It wasn't that close, they played terribly. And ISU has two NBA draft picks on the roster, they should at least be competitive against a team that probably won't sniff the tournament, shorthanded or not. They usually play KU tough, but they haven't had a quality win in about 5 years and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
  10. Iowa State has pretty much given up now. Played like complete ass tonight against a bad Texas Tech team. McDermott should probably be gone after this year because there's a ton of correctable things that aren't getting fixed.
  11. I don't really mind paying Theriot $2.6M this year. He's probably the best option at SS to start the season. If/when Castro comes up he might be expendable, but I don't want to rely on a 19 year old as the only good option at a position. Next year is a different story of course.
  12. Lucca Staiger is leaving Iowa State...to turn pro...in Germany...in the middle of the season. WTF? That's like 20 defections in the last 4 years. Looks like 7 scholarship players until Colvin comes off suspension sometime in February.
  13. I can take the Dolphins if no one else wants them.
  14. That was pretty much the difference. Can't give up a 10-0 run in 100 seconds to the #1 team in the country. ISU played a good game for the first time in a while, but they don't have room for very many moral victories.
  15. Iowa State against UNI. I watched that game. I was at that game. Now time to go see home loss #2. Prove me wrong ISU.
  16. Davis is probably happy right now that Kiffin looks like the con artist he accused him of being. On the other hand he's a huge USC fan...
  17. To follow up on the Warner HOF thing... Player Games Starts Comp Att Comp% Yards Y/A TD INT Sack Fum Rating Warner 124 116 2,666 4,070 65.5 32,344 7.9 208 128 260 102 93.7 Brady 129 127 2,672 4,218 63.3 30,844 7.3 225 99 219 69 93.3 These are pretty close and I don't think anyone is questioning Brady being in the HOF if his career ended today. Warner is actually a slightly more effective passer but he's prone to making more negative plays. Another random thing I just noticed while compiling these, every time Warner has started all 16 games in a season his team has gone to the Super Bowl.
  18. Easily, especially since the bar for QB's is pretty low.
  19. Saturday 1/16 works for me. It won't be on Wednesday.
  20. Kurt Warner career playoff stats: Games: 12 Completions: 300 Attempts: 436 Completion %: 68.8 Yards: 3747 Yards/Attempt: 8.59 TDs: 31 INTs: 13 Rating: 106.51 So he's basically on pace to have a 5000 yard, 40 TD season against playoff teams. Not bad.
  21. Oregon State followed up it's 51 point home loss to Seattle by knocking off the last undefeated Pac 10 team, 2-0 Oregon, 64-57 on the road. This year's Pac 10 might be worse than last year's SEC. And I know Oregon likes to be crazy and different with their jersey's, but yellow lettering on identically yellow jerseys is just dumb.
  22. A surprise onside here is definitely the right call.
  23. and i hear colvin is all but out the door, too. Colvin is suspended for walking out of a meeting and having a bad attitude in general apparently. I don't know if he's unhappy with playing time (hint: Diante Garrett is better than you) or if he's just that way in general. Not sure if he's leaving, but he wouldn't be the first to go because he didn't get along with McDermott. I don't follow the MVC much outside of Drake, and that's only because I used to live by a guy on their team, but UNI is very good. They easily look like the best team out of the Valley in the last two years.
  24. Iowa State continues its scintillating play by gutting out a two point home win over the mighty Bison of North Dakota State. Needed all 19 from Charles Boozer (basically the scrappy, energy guy off the bench) to get it done. I'm going to hate to see McDermott's recruiting go, but if he can't put a quality team on the court when he has two projected draft picks to work with it's probably never going to happen.
  25. I wonder if Mark Sanchez will crash his press conference and tell everyone Carroll isn't ready to coach in the NFL.
