  1. Tavaris Jackson down and it doesn't look good. EDIT: Up now, but he got nailed in the back going for a 1st down.
  2. Nice win by you guys today. You guys have played really well these past three weeks. Yeah, they really turned it around after that Texas game. The defense is finally making stops when they need to and they're cutting down on stupid mistakes on offense. Hoping they can give Colorado and Kansas a game now.
  3. Okie State about to make a massive choke. They were up 35-14 comming into the 4th. Texas needs a 40 yarder to win now. EDIT: Kick is good, that's gotta suck for OSU.
  4. Stupid NCAA Ruling of the Week Short Version: Freshman for Iowa State and Washington State ruled ineligible for the season because two other players on their German club team received unnecessary stipends from the club, as determined by the NCAA. As far as I can tell, and going off of what the article says, the suspended players never received any money.
  5. Iowa State - Big XII Last year was a complete overhaul for ISU, with only 4 scholarship players returning after Wayne Morgan was fired as coach. ISU got Greg McDermott away from UNI to try to throw together a basketball team, and he had decent success, signing guard Mike Taylor and forward Wesley Johnson among others. Teamed with returning C Juri Hubalek and F Rahshon Clark, they managed to finish 15-16 (6-10). The only offseason losses were in the backcourt, where Corey McIntosh and Dodie Dunson left due to personal/academic reasons (no big loss). Leading scorer Mike Taylor was dismissed for two separate run ins with the law (vandalism and stealing cough medicine). This year looks to be a baby step forward. The backcourt has been shored up with an incoming class of several 3-star guards, including Carlos' smaller brother Charles. At forward, Clark and Johnson provide athleticism, experience, and ridiculous jumping ability. Johnson is also a threat to score. Down low, Hubalek returns as a scoring threat with poor defense. The Cyclones also added Alex Thompson (transfer from Iowa) and Craig Brackins (4/5 star recruit) to provide depth. I expect this team to make baby steps back to a legitimate threat in the conference, but a NIT trip would be a wild success in my eyes. The front court should be one of the best in the conference, but a young backcourt will have to mature quickly for them to have a chance. Coach Mac seems to be doing the right things so far though, and I'm excited for the season to start, though that's probably because I've had to watch our football "team" the whole year.
  6. Cot's has most of the contract info. http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2000/04/2007-free-agents.html
  7. Yep, the game winning field goal was his 8th, breaking the record of 7 all-time in an NFL game. (Not sure if you were being sarcastic since the announcers talked about it so much. Figured I'd answer seriously. :D ) Yeah, CBS didn't switch to that game here (stupid Chiefs) so I was keeping up on gamecast. Thanks. That sucks. I'd be pissed. As a Cubs/Dolphins/Iowa State fan there's only so much I can get pissed at anymore.

  9. Houston's defense just blew it. 8 fg's for Bironas, isn't that a record or something?
  10. Extra point gives them the lead. They were down 32-7 going into the 4th. Nice to see Sage getting some work too.
  11. Just got back from this game. Pretty much everyone except the coaching staff realizes this. Does anyone know what the roughing the passer call was for on that last Oklahoma possesion? From my seat it looked like someone tried to tip the pass, and the QB never went down.
  12. I was starting to worry that Cincinnati might be a NL Central contender in a few years with their young talent. Good for the Cubs to see they're still committed to stupid baseball decisions. Sorry Reds fans.
  13. No kidding. If Cal runs the table the rest of the way that play could cost them an NC shot. Unreal.
  14. Wow, how did Cal get back in this? I turn it over when there down 10 and there in tying fg range now.
  15. My thoughts exactly. The Cubs can probably sign Gallagher, Hart, Marshall, and Prior for $4.75M and get infinitely better production. Hopefully this is one of Ken's rare misses.
  16. New guy here. Hope my first gamethread isn't my last this year. Go Cubs!
