  1. I feel like there is a clear top 6 in the Cubs system then everybody else. (in my order) 1. Vitters 2. Cashner 3. Castro 4. Jackson 5. Lee 6. Carpenter
  2. http://mvn.com/pittsburghlumberco/2009/07/grabow-and-gorzelanny-to-the-cubs.html you're pretty far behind
  3. We got Rich Harden last year. Jackson might be higher regarded than Gallagher. People didn't freak out about losing Gallagher.
  4. Jackson has still been pretty damn good for a 22 year old at AA who doesn't have a ton of pitching experience
  5. Yea, I would rather trade Fox or Hoffpauir than Jackson, uhhhhhh.
  6. For the love of god, please give Hill at least a few innings off.
  7. We certainly should be buying low. If we don't give up too much, I like this.
  8. They arent awful. Gorzelanny has been good in 2007 and 2009, just horrible in 2008. Grabow has pretty good three year splits against LHB and is going to be Type A Grabow's numbers are being propped up by a 2008 where had some BABIP magic going for him. Gorzelanny can't strike anybody out and has been walking too many guys for two seasons now. His numbers look pretty at AAA for a lot of reasons, not the least of which an unusually high number of unearned runs. He has a 2.82 FIP this season in the majors and has a 2.87 FIP in AAA this season.
  9. We'd have a very bad reliever on our team making $8+M right now? He's not very bad, but Wood cost a hell of a lot more than Miles and Gathright did this season.

  11. totally agree...but i think they are targeting middle infielders currently Lee and Castro are MI I'm pretty sure that's what he was implying. Maybe Flaherty, Lake, or Barney?
  12. how do you find this out? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/elias-rankings/
  13. Sure, it's not ideal. But high payroll teams can easily get away with it and succeed. Not with the Cubs' circumstances at the time. When the team isn't being sold, yes, though even then it wouldn't be smart. That's some really expensive sentiment. It was stupid to not offer arbitration. Pretending otherwise is ridiculous. It was a very small chance he would accept, when he was looking for, and got a longterm contract. Had he accepted, they could have easiliy afforded it. You don't waste money on Miles and Gregg. Gregg has been better than Wood this year and we could not have afforded it
  14. After all the defending of Hendry that I have done today, he better not have given up Lee or Castro
