  1. Coach Cut is doing a heluva job there. Nobody could really ask more of him at this point. If Duke beats UNC and GT takes care of Wake, it sets up what is effectively the ACC Coastal championship game. No one would have predicted Duke having a chance at anything this season. I can't imagine Duke wins the next two games, but if they could..
  2. Coach Cut is doing a heluva job there. Yeah he is. The old joke was that he relied on having a Manning to succeed wherever he went. I guess that isn't the case anymore. Thaddeus Lewis is no Manning, but he is pretty damn good, too.

  4. If Grimes was just a few inches taller, he would be a very good cornerback.
  5. now that is impressive
  6. Singler makes preseason All-American first team. A tad surprised, but oh well. :)
  7. Go to hell, Carolina, go to hell.
  8. Nice to see.
  9. YES. Three votes for the top 25.
  10. If they beat UNC and GT (and GT beats Wake next week). That would put Duke at 5-1 in the ACC and GT at 5-2 (with Duke obviously holding the tiebreaker). That would mean we would only have to win one of the last two games (Miami and Wake). It certainly is very unlikely, but the chances go way up with a victory against Georgia Tech.
  11. Duke looks to have wrapped up another win against Virginia. That will make them 5-3 and 3-1 in the ACC. Also, that puts them in sole possession of second place in the Coastal Division.
  12. Duke MIGHT get to 3-1 in the ACC
  13. What is your opinion on Redick?
  14. If anyone should know it would be a Duke fan. After all, weren't you pretty highly ranked with Greg Paulus as your point guard? Every year he was there? I never liked Greg Paulus, you can look at my posts here. I wanted Sean Dockery to play over him his freshman year and Nolan Smith to start over him his last two years. Also, I don't think we were up at 4 for a couple of those years. EDIT: All of these are preseason rankings #1 his freshman year. Although, that was certainly because of Redick and Williams #11 his sophomore and junior years #5 last year UNC at 11 would be OK with me. But, you were ranked higher than that, so why wouldn't the Tar Heels in a weaker field, with better talent around the pg? Carolina this year does not have much better talent than Duke the last two years. Ed Davis and Deon Thompson are both going to have to take monster steps forward this year for them to be able to claim that. Duke at 11 was a joke for Paulus' sophomore year (and for the same reasons). Duke had just graduated almost all of their key players, but had a good enough season to stay up high. Also, Larry Drew is not as good as Greg Paulus. Larry Drew was just terrible last year.

  16. Bitter duke face/ It is a [expletive] joke that UNC is #4. Their PG is [expletive] Larry Drew.
  17. Wall's good, but the hype is a little outrageous. He can't shoot. And that will really impair his ability to use his quicks. People talk like he's the best guard we'll have seen in a long time. He's not. Dude isn't as good as Rose or Gordon. His high school team went 17-13 in the small class last year. I am gonna need to see a bit more, I doubt he can sniff Rose. And that is with C.J. Leslie-a top 20 player in his class, a Xaxier commitment (Dezmine Wells), and another pretty good recruit in Bishop Daniels also on the team. Although, Leslie and Wall were held out of some games so that record was not built entirely with him.
  18. I think OKC may be winning my fandom. I liked all the players that they have drafted from when they were in college.
  19. Except that Kyle Blanks is just not an outfielder. They should trade Gonzalez to Boston for however much young talent they can get and give Blanks the job at 1b. Seems like the most logical thing to do. Epstein has a buddy in the NL that he can help, but can also help him now too. If you can get three good prospects for him, move Blanks to 1st, and then sign a big FA with that money they would be much better off. I don't know San Diego, but Gonzalez doesn't come across as being a guy any fan would be very attached too. I thought he was one of those guys in San Diego.
  20. ACC is definitely down this year, no doubt.
  21. I bet it happens a lot more in those places, actually. I think the Cubs players are just the only ones who complain about it. Are they really the only ones to complain about it? I can't remember anybody specific, but I thought there have been some complaints in those cities recently.
  22. I've heard some things about him and they have all been positive. Looks like a great hire for them.
  23. Go OKC?
  24. i think it'll be Duke or UNC. If you're curious, he gave a writeup of his visit to KU. Self's house sounds pretty over the top. http://www.highschoolhoop.com/high-school-stories/2009/10/the-harrison-barnes-diary-official-visit-to-kansas/ Yeah, sounds like Barnes will be playing in the state of North Carolina next season. I think KU is in 3rd, with Oklahoma, UCLA, and Iowa State still officially on his list, but longshots. Barnes would really make it a great class for Duke. Especially when you consider that Seth Curry will be eligible next year as a sophomore and Andre Dawkins was originally signed in that class. I'm not really ready to buy into the Seth Curry hype yet. Fair enough. I'll agree he would not have nearly the same hype if he was not a Curry. However, he does have the same lightning-quick release as his brother. He can be a nice shooter off the bench and if his defense improves (which it should, he is an above-average athlete). He won't be asked to start or lead the team with Irving and Smith still there. If Singler stays, Curry will not even have to be a primary scoring threat. He should be able to help keep defenses honest and could certainly have a few big games.
