  1. I am not nearly as knowledgeable about the NBA as I in some other sports, so I am not going to take a stance here. However, I looked up the +/- stats on 82games.com and the PER stats from Hollinger PER Paul 23.74 Nash 21.67 Williams 20.62 Billups 20.25 Rondo 19.18 Rose 18.69 Evans 18.28 Westbrook 17.90 Kidd 17.20 Curry 16.31 +/- Nash 7.6 Williams 7.4 Paul 6.7 Rondo 5.1 Rose 4.8 Kidd 4.3 Westbrook 3.8 Billups 3.6 Evans 0.8 Curry 0.3
  2. Well yeah, but that doesn't make him any worse of a college player. He should be preseason all-america and could end up as Duke's number 2 career scorer.
  3. Preseason #1
  4. Man, a couple small schools really lucked out today. Ray McCallum to University of Detroit and Trey Ziegler to Central Michigan; both are going to play for their fathers
  5. I don't really like Jay Williams
  6. I still like Milton Bradley and would love to see him succeed.
  7. Holmes is being suspended for violating the drug policy, not for allegedly hitting the woman. If Holmes is suspended, it would be for much different reasons than Rothlisberger and not because he is black.
  8. I dunno about that. He looked pretty sharp today and could be a huge asset for the Reds for years to come. 7 BB and 5 SO suggests a lot of luck today
  9. I just found a site with opponents fouls/per game, so I can do those stats now
  10. I don't think a random collection of Cubs fans on an internet forum have the ability to affect Cubs games by posting or not posting pictures of the Duke men's basketball team. They don't?
  11. I only have the stats that I added to my excel spreadsheet, but I can add more pretty easily. I am getting my tempo stats from kenpom and the fouls from ESPN. Unless you know of a site that would give me home/away splits for those two things, the only way to do it would be to go through the game logs. I might be willing to do that for a team or two, but depends what mood I am in. I acknowledged earlier that this was one of your complaints about Duke, but I can't find a site that gives me opponent fouls per game so I can't do it. My guess is that Duke wouldn't be much different than other teams in that regard, but I certainly can't prove it at this point
  12. I am somewhat surprised WVU isn't mentioned at all; I know the academics aren't great, but still.
  13. What were the chances that those pictures were edited out if Illinois had just won the national championship and an Illinois fan started the thread?
  14. Carlino being able to graduate early has been a big plus since the Bruins are so weak in the backcourt. Just curious, what is Peegs? Oh, sorry I spoke to you as if you were an Illinois fan. Peegs is the main IU message board, ran by Mike Pegram ("peegs") out of Columbus, IN (it's now a rivals.com site though). I believe you can certainly consider this information accurate. Well, the UCLA Scout board now has confirmation that Howland has been in Bloomington. I'm pretty pleased as UCLA desperately needs the backcourt depth and scoring (of course, I can't imagine a kid skipping his SR year of high school would be able to contribute much his freshman year). Andre Dawkins contributed a fair amount to Duke this year as the 4th guard, but my guess is that UCLA would be counting on him for more? I am honestly asking since I don't know how UCLA is supposed to be next year.

  16. What if a loss here would mean more wins in the future because we would have a better pitcher going every fifth day? What if a great outing by Silva means he can be a good fifth starter and the team is thus better off for the whole season with Marshall being one of the view proven reliable arms in the pen? That is the best case scenario and should be the one you root for. One great outing by Silva will not change what he should be expected to do for the rest of the season no more than one terrible one would. Sean Marshall would be more valuable in the rotation than in the bullpen, especially considering the way he has been used. And, I dont need da Bum telling me what I should root for. Then don't post saying that you root for our SP to suck. A fan rooting against his team's own players is contradicting himself. Again, I wasn't even serious with the comment about wanting it to be his last. Even if I was, I would be rooting against Silva so that the Cubs would improve every fifth day

  18. Well obviously it is not going to be his last, but why couldnt I be hoping for a 16-14 type of win (with all 14 coming in the first 2 innings from Silva)? Because that would mean one of our SP's had a horrible outing. He's a Cub you should be rooting for him to do well and not for him to totally suck and by some miracle the Cubs win anyways. You should be rooting for him to have actually figured something out and be able to be a decent 5th starter. What if I realize that no matter what happens in this start that Sean Marshall is the better bet to do well in the future? You should still root for our SP's to have a good outing because you know the object is to win and that is very hard to do when you SP gives up a bunch of runs. Also, yes Marshall is almost definitely the better SP but he has a lot more value in the bullpen as of now because he likely wouldn't be that much of a better SP than Silva or Gorz meanwhile Gorz and Silva would be complete question marks as RP's. What if a loss here would mean more wins in the future because we would have a better pitcher going every fifth day?

  21. He has been so solid for so long. He needs to either become one of our primary set-up men or to replace Silva when the inevitable stretch of terrible starts come or maybe even Gorzo. There is no excuse for Lou to keep him in such low-leverage situations
  22. Carlos Silva gets hopefully his last start with the Cubs and tries to continue the winning streak (Last Season: 8.60 ERA, 5.97 FIP) err err http://maxwellreyes.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/carlos-silva.jpg takes on Homer Bailey (Last Season: 4:53 ERA, 4.41 FIP) err err http://majorleaguejerk.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/homer-bailey.jpg Oh, and
