  1. Barrett's father has some serious health issues. I wondered if that was the reason, it almost has to be.
  2. Nice job! Starting to look like a team. Barrett moves Ward to third, and JJ drives him home with the Sac Fly. 2-0 Cubs.
  3. Barrett's father had never seen Michael play at Wrigley before? Where has he been?
  4. Apparently Farnsworth didn't exactly endorse the "family plan" clause in Roger's contract. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2874138 I bet if Roger buys him a few beers he'll be happy.
  5. Had a debate with a friend of mine last night. He claims Patterson would help this team. He thinks having him in CF on a regular basis would be better than what the Cubs currently have. I took up for Jacque, recognizing he has weaknesses, but claiming he is a better player than Corey. I honestly haven't paid much attention to Corey this year, but his numbers are pretty ugly. .233/.298/.326 He is also making 4.3 million. Jones hasn't been a whole lot better, he is also sitting at 1 HR for the season. I still think he is the better player though, and that you can put Patterson in the same category as Wood and Prior, promising players for whatever reason never quite panned out.
  6. If Murton was the everyday OF'er and one of Ward/Floyd had not been signed, it would be a move that I could see occur. Right now, never. Yeah, I could see that. But like you said, there is no place on this team right now as currently constructed.
  7. Has the Craig Wilson fanclub around here been put out of its misery yet?
  8. I don't question the arm, he has a very good one. Command and control have been the biggest issue with him.
  9. How could my old teammate accept this assignment? Ugh! I have to root for him, but it is going to be hard.
  10. I don't see the huge deal here, let him go back to AAA and get some confidence, then he will be brought back up. He was hitting .218/.301/.287. His defense has been atrocious as well. He's a talented player, but I don't think sending him down for a while is all that bad of a move.
  11. this closer thing just might suit Myers well...
  12. I'd rather him just get on, hr doesn't quite get it done right now.
  13. The game thread attackers are back. Howry hasn't given up an earned run since mid April before today, he's far from awful. But he was awful today... BS. I don't care what his line says, Howry's been shaky as hell every time I've seen him this year. Don't give me this crap. You've all been watching the games. Howry barely escapes with his life every time he goes out there. He's total junk. Its not crap, his line is what matters in most cases. He's sucked today, but he's far from terrible. I realize its mostly game thread rantings, but have some perspective. How many runs have scored when Howry's been in the game? Relief pitchers aren't just brought in to make sure they don't give up runs except those already on base, you know. They're expected to hold runners who they inherit, as well. Look, I was just on a game thread a few days back going over this same thing, and Howry was sucking again. The argument was exactly the same. "He sucks today, but he's been good." So how many times does he get to use that excuse? I'd just like to know. Because seriously, every single time I see him he struggles like hell. Every single time. Well, more than twice at least.
  14. I think you're right. In regards to continuing to manage the team or his life?

  16. I just fell off the couch  I have to go chaperone a high school Prom tonight, never thought that would look like the better option than watching the Cubs. I'm out

  18. It is extremely important to get out of this inning with the lead with more rain on the way.
