  1. I don't really think anyone has said that Stewart is this great player or that he is any kind of permanent fixture for this club at the moment. They said there is evidence that indicates that he could be a valuable asset to this team and than got frustrated with a very awful understanding of statistics (RBI's are being used to support an argument for God's sake). And the thread is about Stewart having bad luck and even without stats backing up the fact that he has had some bad luck, the eye test has told me the guy is hitting the ball hard a lot for outs.
  2. There's an awful lot of of effort going into trying to discredit a guy who is gritty and plays hard and I don't think it's right.
  3. It was more recent for me, in 07 I read moneyball and I started reading this site actually. I then read baseball between the numbers and ever since then I stopped even paying attention to how many RBI's a guy has and his batting average. There are still some advanced stats that I don't understand but that's mostly because I haven't taken the time to look too closely at them. I'm still stunned though that there are people who use the old school traditional stats to evaluate players but at the same time it does seem that a lot of people are at least starting to consider stats like OBP and OPS, and while they are still flawed stats it's still nice to see.
  4. What the hell is being argued anymore?
  5. I'm starting to think troll on this one.
  6. I keep finding myself pulling for the Lakers this series and I have no idea why.
  7. Bob's reaction whenever Len brings up his analysis is interesting. Bob will give his pretty old timey point, Len refutes it with a very good point and Bob kind of agrees with a tone that says "[expletive] it".
  8. I remember that. I kept hoping he would stop at second even though it went over the fence.
  9. I'm really hoping he can show something this year. That would be a steal if we did.
  10. By "grit" I'm assuming it is meant that he has a beard and eye black, which I admit, does look pretty cool.
  11. I actually saw Sosa in there. I was pretty sure the Cubs were trying to erase his existence. I don't know if I've ever really seen them promote the teams history that much in commercials in such. I understand why to an extent but I'd like to see them do it more. There is positive Cubs history too.
  12. That commercial was awesome. I've never seen it before.
  13. I like how we're 11 games under .500 but are still within 7 games of first. Meaning the division is technically still winnable.
  14. I used to pick a random lefty on the team who would be my favorite player since I hit lefty, and Todd Walker was the one I picked in 04'. I also liked Hollandsworth for some reason. I made a custom Cubs shirt that had his name on it.
  15. That's just because the Cubs want to run off all the leftovers.
  16. Barney is older than Cardenas. That was a strange comment that he made.
  17. Ozzie is a loudmouth who thinks he's way smarter than he is. Those people always drive me nuts but at the same time I can see the entertainment value in that type of person.
  18. The Spurs vs Thunder series should be really good.
  19. Isn't there a difference, at least philosophically, in wanting to take city government money but still having an issue with federal spending?
  20. LeBron and Wade have taken this game over. The Pacers don't look like they've played offense before.
  21. I don't understand the thinking that the bullpen is the Cubs only problem. The Cubs are the 5th worst team in the league in runs scored. The offense is still really bad. Even when they were playing well they couldn't score.
