  1. What's worse is MVP Derrick Rose is gone for good, when he comes back he'll be just another good point guard. Maybe we'll get glimpses of a great player but, I suspect they'll few and far between. Nobody knows this yet. It's just pessimism for the sake of pessimism.
  2. Taj is playing well.
  3. This isn't much fun.
  4. I'm finding myself enjoying this team, even if they're 10-16, and I'm also finding them easy to root for. Probably because they are the Cubs and I like the Cubs.
  5. Well, why the [expletive] not, we're all making matter of a fact statements about a series that isn't going to happen anyways.
  6. The Bulls were going to likely sweep through the playoffs if Rose (and now Noah) were healthy.
  7. In my mind, this years NBA champion will have an asterisk next to their title. No they won't care and yes it's probably childish and stupid but I don't care. This sucks. I'm not giving up on this series though.
  8. Simmons is at his best when talking about NBA history in an interesting way (aside from his Boston bias, which is annoying but it is what it is. I'm biased in favor of my teams too) and I didn't really see anything in his article that changed my thinking on that.
  9. Again, barring running Marmol out there at the end of every close game, this team will not lose 100 games. 100 loss teams do not have starting pitching this good. I think some under performing offensive players could get better with warmer weather, we won't see a great offense but it won't remain terrible. I still think it could be an average offense and I also don't think the bullpen will be this horrendous. I'm still hoping that the National League will be somewhat unimpressive and we can remain within striking distance of the second wild card spot for awhile (up to the trade deadline or something). Is that over optimistic? Maybe, but I have seen some things that give me hope (mainly the starting pitching).
  10. That's what is frustrating. I don't think this team is as bad as expected (in fact the starting pitching has been pretty good, especially lately) and if the bullpen didn't suck we'd be around .500. But it does suck, and we knew it would suck. They traded the best reliever and the rest was filled with questionable or worse pitchers. Plus, they are still bottom half of the league in starters' era and bottom half of the league in OPS and runs. This isn't a team that is being held back by a surprisingly bad bullpen. Agreed. I've counted 5 games that the Cubs were leading or tied going into the into the 7th inning that the pen has blown. (Another one was a one run lead late that was lost by Dempster in the 7th) If all those games go their way they are 15-10 (obviously that may be too much to ask but half of those games go the Cubs way their record looks better), it's just frustrating to have a chance to win games late and not do it.

  12. Well, that's obviously an overexaggeration.
  13. Russel, Camp or Dolis, who ever is pitching the best at that time, should close for this team.
  14. Dominate a team for 8 innings but because Marmol sucks it's a very, very possible loss. Ugh.
  15. Seriously? I'm fairly confident that Bruce is walking off here.
  16. And we wanted to sign Fielder or Pujols.
  17. The local news pretty much made it sound like he stuck his knee out while being wrestled to the ground and the cop got the wind knocked out of him.
  18. Tired of these low scoring games. I want the Cubs to blow someone out.
  19. Weaver is one of my favorite pitcher, mostly because I saw him pitch live his rookie year. I'm glad he got a no-no.
