  1. Teoscar back to the Dodgers, 3 years $66 million. Dodgers now have 5 OF (Hernandez, Pages, Edman, Conforto, Outman) for 4 spots. Though Outman sucked last year.
  2. Also a phillies supporter. Caba is a big time prospect with a high ceiling who is very far away. It's a nice get for the Marlins but as we've seen with Christian Hernandez, anything can happen. Boyd was one of my favorite prospects in their system, in part because I've seen him play a couple times. Nice athletic guy who probably ends up a 4th OF. Don't love the Phillies giving up that much for someone who isn't a big need. They do love Ranger and Sanchez but this makes you wonder if they trade one for another OF. Kepler-Marsh-Castellanos isn't a terrible OF but it's also not a great one for a major contender.
  3. More or less thinking aloud. I know people on the boards here love Naylor and maybe he'd have made a nice DH or whatever. Any thought about that went out the window with Tucker, obviously.
  4. I didn't realize how bad Cecconi was this year. Makes me wonder if Wicks would've gotten it done from our end.
  5. Now that's an interesting deal. DBacks get their Walker replacement. Guardians supplement their staff. Wonder if that guards (pun intended) against a McKenzie Cubs trade!
  6. There's a lot of movement ahead of the holiday and I wonder if Jed has anything else up his sleeve the next few days. Again, considering how far along we think the Luzardo talks were and the hard deadline for a Bellinger trade, we could hear about a pitching move soon. Or radio silence until January.
  7. Weird trade, as the Yankees have absolutely no depth at catcher. Alex Jackson sucks and probably will just be a 3rd/4th catcher in AAA. Cruz is an interesting story though. He was drafted by the Royals in 2007 as a 3B/C. After a few years of mediocre results, they moved him to the mound. He got torched, then got released, then spent two years in the Cubs system, which I do not remember. Then he pitched in indy ball for the NJ Jackals for a few years and eventually made his way to the Reds and made his MLB debut at 32 and last year struck out 100 batters out of the Reds pen. 4.88 ERA but 3.05 FIP the last two years.
  8. Y'know, the Yankees missed out on Walker. We have a spare 1B on our 40 man. We should've gotten more for Bellinger. Just saying, Matt Mervis for Spencer Jones feels like a no-brainer.
  9. Idk who that is and this is the time of year randos go nuts with rumors. He could just be reacting to his poll he shared that's close.
  10. There's not a ton to hate here but damn are there some questionable notes. He's still really down on Caissie, which I don't get. Neely and Ramon in the top 10? Valdez and Ramirez in the 30s??? 11-20 looks pretty good to me but definitely a few head scratchers.
  11. I mean, why not. Get all our shopping done at once.
  12. How is Pablo Lopez still just 28. I was thinking it would be fun to pry Joe Ryan away from there but Lopez is interesting. Still three more years under his current contract, which is not unreasonable. Looking at their depth, not sure what they'd be most interested in as a return. I do also love Griffin Jax. If we could find a way to get both for, say, Alcantara and Ballesteros and Wicks??
  13. Looking at these today, it loves our pitching staff. a 3.88 ERA from Poteet? Nearly 3 WAR from Boyd over a full season? It loves Ben Brown and has good numbers from the top guys in the pen as it sits. Also has Nico, Dansby, Tucker, Happ, PCA and Suzuki all above a 3 WAR. Busch at 2.6 and Shaw at 2.3! Even has Rule 5 pick Gage Workman worth 1.7 WAR.
  14. Finally. This was all stupid to begin with.
  15. I guess the thinking is you don't give up assets for Buehler but he hasn't been himself or fully healthy since 2021, this postseason aside. And competition for his services could push his price up into risky territory. I am also not keen on giving up great prospects for Luzardo but he comes with a couple years of control and was really good in 2023.
  16. Not FA but Arenado invoked his NTC to block a deal to the Astros.
  17. This is some Groundhogs Day horsefeathers.
  18. Or Aliendo. Barring a veteran added as a minor league free agent.
  19. I was kinda going off MLBTR predictions and where the market currently is but I would be glad to be wrong and we get some of these guys a little cheaper.
  20. OK with Bellinger gone, Cerami predicts we have about $40 mil we can spend rest of the offseason. So what about: Yates and Minter: maybe 20 mil total Trade for Luzardo: 6 mil Sign Kim or Moncada for bench/3B: 10 mil? Another reliever or OF bench bat for 5?
  21. Yeah if Mastrobuoni and Vasquez are still in contention for a main bench spot then the rest of the offseason went poorly and/or a bunch of people died.
  22. Good thing the season doesn't start tomorrow. They're going to add at least one notable bench bat. And assuming they're hoping to add a couple pitchers shortly.
  23. Poteet has some interesting numbers but that is quite an underwhelming and disappointing return. It's basically a straight salary dump and maybe you get a middle reliever out of it.
