  1. also, why do bad things happen to good people? and what about free will??? i mean, it's all pretty heavy stuff. OR is it meaningless. LIKE ALL OF IT.
  2. please provide two answers...one for a world in which there is a god, one for a world in which there is not.
  3. barney hitting .162 since the ASB. but what should he be hitting? like from an existential perspective.
  4. if only the cubs could just get the outcomes to games that they philosophically deserve...
  5. pretty sure nobody's ever said he wasn't good. and it's not like miguel cabrera was a [expletive] choice for mvp last year. people act like raul ibanez won or something. He never said that nobody said he wasn't good. close enough
  6. pretty sure nobody's ever said he wasn't good. and it's not like miguel cabrera was a shitty choice for mvp last year. people act like raul ibanez won or something.
  7. yeah but not...because he's hitting [expletive] .215. but sure, if you give him a bunch of imaginary hits = career season for him.
  8. so this is your thing for today huh
  9. barney prolly has a low babip because 85% of his abs (roughly) end with a dribbler back to the mound.
  10. they apparently bunted against him a bunch because, as we know, he's a terrible fielder.
  11. you trading players you weren't going to keep to suckers. there is no real life baseball equivalent to trading guys you don't own.

    Castro

though it is kind of crazy to think of how "easy" it should be for him to get to 2,500 career hits.

    Castro

the lack of power is concerning. even with his meh 2012, he hit 14 hr. aren't we all hoping he will develop into a 20+ hr guy?
  14. baez hitting .227 over his last 10...still has an OPS of 1.047 in that span. in those ~50 PAs, he's walked/k'ed/homered 30 times.
  15. Is he really that much more of a prospect than Vitters anymore? Reality and facts are a bitch but http://northsidebaseball.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=62237 no kidding, vitters has been tearing it up lately.
  16. draft order will be based on end of the season standings like every sport and fantasy league in the universe. i reserve the right to change the draft order if tanking occurs.
  17. How do you see Kennedy as better than Samardzija!?!?!? Ian Kennedy was a 2.3WAR player in 2012, 4.8WAR in 2011. 8K/9, 2BB/9 in 2012. 1.3WHIP in 2012, 1.03WHIP in 2011. 207IP in 2012 Shark was a 1.8WAR in 2012, 1.1 in 2011. 9K/9m 3B/9. 174IP in 2012 with a 1.295WHIP. 1.219WHIP in 2011 it is currently 2013.
  18. both under team control for 2 more years. one sucks, the other is good. let's trade.
  19. geez bradley is having control issues. i'll just keep samardzija thanks.
  20. And some of them are To the tune of an about league average offense (8th in wOBA 9th in R) and that's WITH fairly to hugely disappointing seasons out of Rizzo and Castro. I don't understand why so many people think this team is so much worse than it is. It's not bereft of talent. well before it was OMG WE'LL NEVER BE GOOD WITH SORIANO'S BURDEN OF A CONTRACT COMPLETELY DESTROYING THE TEAM, so now it has to be something else. How did you get to that abuck? I was referring to the offensive players likely to be on the team. Rizzo, Castro, Castillo look like they can be starters but not stars. Is a league average offense good enough to win the world series - probably considering last year's result but the cubs pitching is also good but not dominant. I don't think you can fall back on a good bullpen and they are .500. The Cubs are a slightly below .500 team right now - where is the talent for 12 more wins coming from in the next two years? how many years do you think it takes to add 12 wins to the previous year's total?

  22. Who the hell is going to hit in two years? if they can't figure out a way to get a good hitter or two here within TWO years, the entire front office should be fired. a 5-6 year rebuilding plan or whatever for a team with the cubs' resources is complete lunacy.
  23. if the cubs aren't "contending" within two years, well that's just pathetic. you can't just continue with a cycle of trading young, cost-controlled good players for even younger and even more cost-controlled young players. you'll never contend if you do that. at some point they have to be like "ok, we've got the bullets, time to go for it." the goal is for the big league team to win a WS, not to give jim callis a boner.
