pretty pointless. given all the nats' lefties out of the pen, he's never going to get a high leverage ph appearance vs a rhp (unless it's against scherzer or strasburg i guess).

I'm not freaking out or anything but the Cubs have had a lot more than 1 bad inning. they have 10 hits in two games. The Nationals have 8, it's been a pitcher's zone, that's why there's been such smooth sailing on the mound. Losing a Gio start would be a bummer, but there's no harbingers of doom to take from this. dude, obv splitting in wash is fine. but splitting after winning game one and being up 3-1 with 6 outs to go sucks. not that hard to comprehend.

using my Edwards there isn't like "seemingly questionable but actually defendable for X, Y, Z reasons and maddon is quite shrewd if you think about it." it's just like comically obviously and blatantly stupid.

I guess this is what I was trying to say, poorly. We have enough in the bullpen to confidently get through 2 games if the starters do what we know they can do. and if they don't we're gonna lose anyway because they aren't winning these games 11-9 against cleveland's bullpen.

i don't feel very confident in the bullpen, but i also don't think it should be that big of a deal. arrieta for 6, mix and match to somehow get through the 7th and then chapman for the 8th and 9th. if arrieta goes less than 6 because he's given up a bunch of runs, they're gonna lose anyway.
