  1. I would hope that is in the past as is Zambrano's hitting Edmonds 2 times. It has been a long time since the Cubs and Cardinals had a heated moment and I hope it stays that way. Zambrano deserved what he got as far as the ejection, but he had no reason to throw at Edmonds, but if I was a Cards fan I'd want one of my pitchers to throw at Z. The Cubs deserve their fair of the blame as well in the past, right now, Morris does. I never understood why a pitcher would throw at a hitter that wasn't a pitcher, despite being guilty of it myself. I hope the Cubs do something to bring back some life, it if takes putting a couple of Cards on the ground, so be it. If the standings don't motivate the Cubs, they have to find a way to do it. I would rather they win, which they did last year, while Z and Hawkins blew up. yeah, that's why the cubs lost. i sometimes forget how much i hate the cardinals...until they have a series with the cubs and all their fans come out of the woodwork.
  2. so shawn estes gets six months of slack while rich hill gets 4 1/3 innings. good to know.
  3. thank goodness. i'd hate to see hill get an extended look to see if he can take a rotation spot in '06. we need rusch out there since he's the cornerstone of the franchise...plus we'll be battling for fifth place in the central by then.
  4. the cubs and the cardinals have the same team BA. the cubs actually have more hits (1065-1052) than the cards. yet the cards have 82 more runs on the season. hmm...i wonder what the difference is? i'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that the cubs are LAST (by a fairly large margin, actually) in walks. nothing at all.
  5. hilarious...two guys w/ .300ish obp hitting 1-2.
  6. oh that matt morris and his sly wit! umm....no. grudz sounds a little bitter. i'll take that bet.
  7. hopefully this prevents baker from pitching fox...er williamson for the 19th day in a row. or from seeing just how much kerry wood's arm can take.
  8. so let's find out! geesh, what is wrong with that guy????
  9. get ready...you will be hearing it if brownlie comes up and doesn't throw four straight shut outs. hope you can 'take it'!
  10. you're right. hill really put a damper on the cubs postseason hopes today. they were riding a hell of a winning streak until this afternoon. plus, rusch has been AWESOME lately! So let him get drilled again?? You think that's good for his confidence? You're right though. I did sell his first 2 starts short. That plate of crow must not be going down well. wow, what a dick. so what is this about? do you think you're some kind of baseball whiz because you predicted occasional problems for a 25 year old who started the season in single A? wow, any more bold predictions for us, nostradamus? for all you people in the 'told you so' business, why don't you make a prediction yourself once in a while instead of just sitting back and waiting for people to be 'wrong' so you can give them a sly little wink about how you were soooooooooooo right, but how it's ok because not everyone can be as smart as you. let's hear a list of ten prospects that you think are going to pan out, and then i'll get back to you four starts into their major league career. take your time...i'll wait. Omg. Settle down kid. Your first post in this thread today was a little hostile. If you're going to dish it out, be ready to take it as well. I'll leave it at that and disregard what you just wrote. you don't have to disregard it. and don't call me 'kid'. and i can 'take it' just fine. i'm just sitting here patiently waiting for your list of prospects. judging by the fact that you've made 7 posts in the minor league forum i'm sure you know quite a bit about prospects, and i'm sure you knew darn well that hill would suck in his first shot at the bigs since i'll bet you've been following him for years.
  11. you're right. that kind of stuff is totally unnecessary.
  12. i wouldn't be too upset if they sent him down. but at this point, you might as well see if he has what it takes to compete for a spot in the rotation next year. sending him down to insert rusch into the rotation is pretty pointless.

  14. trade him to the reds for adam dunn.

  16. didn't the reds ask for harden when the a's called about dunn? if so, what's the point of this complaint anyway? to show how stupid hendry is? to talk about how much hill sucks? i don't really get this one...
  17. yep. he's done...i can tell all i need to know about a guy after four starts. this whole season is the fault of hill and patterson. Who talked about CPatt there? Does anyone actually read anymore? Anyway, I'm not saying Hill is a failure or to blame for the season. What I'm pointing out is that a lot of people thought Hill was a sticking point in a trade for Dunn or any Reds outfielder. Since this poor performance is against Reds, chances are they will no longer want him as much in a trade. In other words, this performance decreases his value to the Reds if there ever was a trade to discuss with the Reds. and if there's one thing we've learned from years worth of trade deadline talk, it's that every rumor you hear is true. i'm sure that if hendry would have offered hill for dunn, he would have gotten laughed straight out of town.

  19. TODD HOLLANDSWORTH (getting dusty to use Todd properly would be a start) But that's the problem. If Todd is on the roster he'll be misused. He's one of "Dusty's boys". For this team to do anything in 2006, you first have to start by taking Dusty's toys away. And Hollandsworth only has 3 career games at 1B. I was thinking of a little more experienced 1B man. branyan. he can play 3b too, which officially makes macias expendable since it appears as though his biggest asset is the fact that he's the only guy that can back up at 3b (though i'm sure neifi could do it). branyan would be a left handed pinch-hitter a left-handed complement to lee at first, a backup 3b and a fifth OFer. of course, i'm not so sure the cubs wouldn't rather fill all those spots with four crappy players instead of one decent one...
  20. pierre has gone the orlando cabrera route of going from slightly underrated to ridiculously, ridiculously overrated. cabrera cashed in that way, pierre probably will too. i just hope it isn't w/ the cubs.
  21. gee, i guess leadoff would be an ok spot to put the guy with the .500 obp.
  22. september 1st of what year? if you're talking about any year before 2008, i second jc's answer.
  23. that doesn't even makes sense. the fact that he had a hot couple of weeks means that it was mental? that's your proof? he's had hot streaks like that during his big league career. and he absolutely sucked for a pretty good period while he was down there too...what is that proof of? again, there is NOT 'strong numeric proof' of anything. a couple weeks worth of numbers is NEVER strong numeric proof of anything. this is just more of people thinking they know the players and that every case of struggles is due to a bad attitude.
  24. i saw that commercial too...grant johnson and a couple other chiefs were in it.
