  1. well, going w/ snell (7 runs in 1 1/3) over hill sure is looking like it might cost me the week. damn rain in boston....
  2. son of a... bos-tex rained out again. missed 2 1/2 games of teix and blalock, no saves from pap, and, for the second straight week, beckett gets washed out of a two start week. given FL's ridiculously good starting pitching this week, i don't know how i'm even in this thing.
  3. i was expecting a reporter to ask dusty about it, and i was guessing dusty would say that he forgot piazza was back there.
  4. Who traded Albert to you? i think i did. it was a huge trade if i remember...i got tejada in return.
  5. i'd say! 37 1/3 ip, 23 h, 7 er, 5-0, 5 QS. i'm just lucky you only had five starts....
  6. no, just fair and balanced reporting. all of this negativity is bringing me down and bumming me out. Those who know and remember me from posting know i can be pretty negative, but it is getting way out of hand on this site. I mean we had a freaking poll started yesterday on Dempster's role as closer after he blows a Save for the first time in recent memory. If someone is doing their expected job (regardless if you are happy with them being there) or doing a good job, we need to post that and give them an atta boy every once in a while. Otherwise we end up looking like a strung-out bunch of lunatics. quoting fox news to show your good intentions isn't really convincing.
  7. i do, and i am waiting. have said all along that Pierre is his own worst enemy and DLee got in his head and freaked him out. He will be joining us soon though. Can you do me a favor and hold off posting Jones's numbers until you're ready to post Pierre's as well? let's just wait until he has a good four game stretch. and it will be in a new 'told ya so' thread.
  8. i do, and i am waiting. have said all along that Pierre is his own worst enemy and DLee got in his head and freaked him out. He will be joining us soon though. that's a new one in the juan pierre excuse book.
  9. Well, you are entitled to your opinion. But i am not hating. I just said in the earlier 20+ pg hatefest that Jones needs a fair shake and pointed to the Boston-Renteria disaster last season. Sometimes it just takes a player 1 month to adjust to the league. One of those crazy things. But we do need to get more positive posting going in here. Need to find some diamonds in this rough. even if he completely adjusts and puts up his career average #'s for the next three years, i still wouldn't want him. also, what's the point of starting a thread to 'show' people they were wrong? do you want people to do it to you next week when jones sucks again?
  10. good grief...my opponent's about to go to 5-0, 5 QS (including probably 2 CG and a shutout). i don't know four starts tomorrow will get it done...
  11. Juan Pierre: Ball, Strike looking, Strike looking, Ball, Ball, Pierre walked. Ronny Cedeno: Cedeno sacrificed to first, Pierre to second. Todd Walker: Ball, Strike looking, Ball, Walker grounded out to shortstop, Pierre to third. Aramis Ramirez: Strike looking, Ball, Foul, Ramirez flied out to right. End of Inning (0 Runs, 0 Hits, 0 Errors) Jacque Jones: Jones reached on an infield single. Jerry Hairston Jr.: Foul, Ball (pitchout), Pickoff attempt, Jones to second on Meredith's throwing error, Hairston sacrificed to catcher, Jones to third. Neifi Perez: Foul, Perez lined out to first. Henry Blanco: Strike swinging, Foul, Blanco struck out swinging. End of Inning (0 Runs, 1 Hit, 1 Error) keep trying...it'll work some time! they say a manager only has a hand in a couple games a year. today was one of those games.
  12. and people wonder why the cubs have a hard time scoring runs...
  13. and baker single handedly costs the cubs a run. awesome job.
  14. i'm pretty sure pierre can steal on piazza 99% of the time. why the HELL do you give up an out to get him to second base right there? baker is awful.
  15. here's what i posted in the game thread...
  16. this rain in boston is killing me...no teix, blalock, or papelbon, and for the second straight week, rain could cost beckett a two start week.
  17. man, you're really intent on convincing everybody that he'll be out for the season.
  18. well, he certainly wasn't dominating. he was 90-91 on iowa's gun, which has never been very accurate...so i didn't think much of it. but then the sky sox guy was around 89-90, so maybe the gun was accurate, and wood was just kinda slow. plus, his last pitch of the 5th inning was 93 on the scoreboard gun, and i was standing behind the guys w/ the guns in the stands, and the gun i looked at said 93 too. kinda worries me a little bit. as i'm sure everyone who watched it saw, he didn't command his breaking stuff very well, and he missed up quite a bit with his fb. it was also very cold, and the wind was blowing in. shealy's fly ball to right may have been a hr on another night.
  19. all i know is that eddie vedder's singing on sunday!
  20. i'll be there, weather permitting. this is the guy that's in charge?
  21. if someone gets thrown out trying to steal down 6 runs, i'm gonna laugh.
  22. where are you hearing this gone for the year and career threatening stuff?
  23. finley in for matsui, who is having surgery tomorrow. i was gonna get jacque, but the cubs may get rained out tomorrow. edit: matsui's out three months??? [expletive].
  24. man, now matsui's hurt. my guys have been dropping left and right. but i'm not going to let an injury or two derail my team...unlike a certain chicago-based major league team i know!
  25. I wouldn't mind that thinking if they were debating on 2 good players. If the Cubs traded for Dontrelle over Clemens because Willis was a better hitter, then great. If the Cubs were deciding on Abreu or Giles and went with Bobby A's defense, then great. But this is Conine vs. Millar. That makes it worse. They know the offense needs help, but they seek out guys who can't hit. clemens is better than dontrelle. dontrelle's getting shelled again.
