any time you can roster a guy that can’t run, can’t play a position and puts up a .600 OPS you absolutely gotta do it (preferably hitting him cleanup).

in retrospect walking the guy with the .470 OPS was unwise

guy with an 88% sb success rate singles to start the inning and never tries to steal against the sidearm-y righty pitcher. come on.

his job is to build a winning team and he has failed at that job for multiple years. making the argument that hoyer sucks doesn’t require anyone to list moves that they would have done better than hoyer. it’s not hoyer’s job to be better than a message board poster at gm’ing, it’s his job to be better than other gms at gm’ing, which he objectively has failed to do.

not even exaggerating...was there a team in MLB with a worse deadline than the cubs? castro hitting .147 kittredge single-handedly lost them that one game, but has otherwise been fine i guess rogers has barely pitched but has been fine soroka broke after two innings and that's just the guys they got. not even factoring in moves they didn't make. just a complete and total F-.

it’s kinda funny to think about how they extended him right before the deadline and were like “all right buddy, here’s your extension, now go work that trade magic,” and then he absolutely faceplanted his way into the worst deadline in MLB.
