  1. good. Excellent. Marmol could use some AAA time, and Guz has little left to prove down there. So good. i wouldn't say that's the case at all. he's only had 40-ish innings of fairly average pitching at AAA, and he's coming off years of injury. it wouldn't bother me at all to see him at AAA. however, he's much closer than marmol...that's why i like the move.
  2. nope. i'm not even going to bother posting pagan's numbers, but let's just say that if the cubs miss his production, they're worse off than we thought. it must be nice to have built-in, ready excuses for your inevitable failure. when is this guy going to realize that NO team gets to play the entire season w/ a full roster...ridiculous. and now that bynum and womack (who have contributed nothing to this team) are hurt, he's still got the "horses" excuse in his back pocket. he must love it.
  3. teixeira's quest to catch damon hollins for 50th place in the AL hr race takes another step as he homers for the second straight game...he just needed a couple games in coors to get his swing back.
  4. who 13 in des moines reported that he was called up at around 10 pm.
  5. There was no other position player left on the bench, was there ? no, but if bynum's good enough to start against a righty, why not let him hit there? similarly, why ph walker for neifi when you brought neifi in a few innings earlier to play 2b? guess baker's got to get his double switch fix in somehow.
  6. heh, murton getting the choi/dubois treatment...gets his ab's against the good pitchers.
  7. ALL of us want a winner right away. We're all frustrated at the incompetence this organization has shown lately. However, making the best possible trade is NOT going to delay winning a World Series; hopefully it would make it closer. And the fact that your hatred for the Sox is blinding you to the issue of improving the Cubs that's your problem. Not mine, not other Cub fans', and certainly not the Cubs organization's.And if we make a trade that puts the Sox over the top, you can expect fans like me to revolt. And what would this revolution entail? demanding we build a team to win it all RIGHT AWAY!!! uh oh, look out for that.

  9. wow, i had an offensive explosion yesterday. those 100 point days sure do make your weekly score look respectable no matter how bad it was before that. and i'll take an 8 point outing from a RP any time!
  10. it rained pretty hard around des moines a couple hours ago. it's not raining now, but the skies are ominous.
  11. who cares? the fact is, he put up a 3.11 era and a k per inning out of kc's pen last year at the age of 22 and the cubs got NOTHING for him. i don't know how you can defend that. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=7470 Who cares what Sisco did LAST yr. This yr, he has been MISERABLE. He is a headcase, that will be nothing more then a average middle reliever. But hey...Sisco and Rauch can tryout for the Bulls, since they both have size. Neither can pitch effectively, but hey let's see what they can do on the basketball court. Fact is...Sisco is prolly not going to amount to much in MLB, and to think they could have gotten something reasonably for Sisco, is foolhardy. thanks for the laugh. i'd add more, but the two people above me said all that needs to be said. ridiculous.
  12. wow, those must be 20 telling innings that marmol has thrown.
  13. the announcers on weei said that ortiz was picked up by the o's.
  14. from the des moines register... good to see hill throwing strikes and keeping his pitch count down. striking out 10 over 7 innings on just 105 pitches is pretty economical.
  15. from the trib...
  16. as i'm sure everyone can tell, he's my favorite prospect...has been for some time. but at this point, i'd really prefer the cubs trade him. he's ticked off baker, for one, and if there was ever a manager who plays his favorites, it's baker. secondly, before the season started, it was pretty clear the cubs considered gooz and marshall to be ahead of hill. now it appears as though they favor marmol over hill as well. that puts him fourth, at best, in line as far as young starting pitchers go. i don't think there's a shot in hell that the cubs go into '07 w/ zambrano, prior and three first/second year guys, so i really don't see a spot for hill w/ the team. and since he isn't getting any younger, i'd rather they give him a shot elsewhere before he winds up pitching in the PCL until he's 33. i don't know who i'd want them to trade him for, but his value is likely as high as it's been since his ascent through the system last year. trade him.
  17. petrick loves him some groundballs.
  18. Nick Adenhart, Humberto Sanchez, Matt Albers, Jacob McGee, Ubaldo Jimenez, Mark Rogers... i'll give you sanchez, and mcgee's been about the same, but hill's been better than adenhart, albers, jimenez and (by a loooong ways) rogers. Rogers is leading the minors in K/9 last I checked. he's k-ing guys at a ridiculous rate (84 in 59 ip), but he's also walked 37 in those innings. and he's got a 4.73 era. batters are hitting .246 against rogers and under .200 against hill.
  19. hill's last five starts... 33 ip, 21 h, 4 bb, 5 er, 46 k's. that's a .76 whip and 12.5 k/9. trade him or bring him up, please.
  20. My bad on that. I was looking at MiLB Gameday as I typed that and that's what it said. Even better outings for Hill and Wuertz then if those are the correct numbers. milb's game log was all screwed up until just a minute ago. the box score was right, but the log was wrong. now they're both right.
  21. 22. has hill been the best pitcher in all of AAA this season? all of minor league baseball? by the way, hill had 10 k's, not 6 (according to milb.com). 7 ip, 4 h, 0 bb, 10 k's wuertz had 5 k's in two innings also.
  23. hill's pitching and it's theriot magnet night, but i can't go.... hoping for a good return for petrick...
  24. yet... I grew up in Skokie, thank you very much. I went to the city a lot when I was little. I still go, but not as often. And if I go in the city now, I just hop on the L. I'm 30 minutes by foot from a station. sorry, but it's a LOT different, as you've pointed out a handful of times, in chicago.
