  1. this season’s “smartest guy in the room” thing about actually it’s better if your pitchers don’t throw hard and strike anybody out is going great.
  2. the cubs have 6 singles through 5 games. SIX! obviously singles is not an indicator of goodness or anything, but that is wild.
  3. cub hitters with 2 hits and 13 strikeouts. cub pitchers issue 11 walks. maybe NEXT year will be the year all these problems that have plagued the cubs over the last few seasons will magically fix themselves without any actual action being taken to solve them.
  4. so, aside from some catastrophic injury to one of the "good" players, this is pretty much like worst case scenario, huh?
  5. also, the front office (or at least ownership) doesn't give a horsefeathers if the team is good, so i doubt they're overly concerned with platoons and such. i mean, you don't trade your best player for a bunch of teenagers and then be like "ok how can we best maximize l/r splits to ensure we win the world series."
  6. i bet they go for the 4th down if they’re down 7 instead of 8. going for two with 1/4 of the game left was dumber than the FG decision.
  7. was probably a tough sell convincing ricketts that no, they couldn't actually just go with one catcher this season.
  8. Rebuilds aren’t easy and we were spoiled by the most successful one in sports history. It’s far more likely we aren’t a playoff team for another 10+ years than it is we have this thing back on track in 3-4 years like last time. I don’t know what the most successful rebuild in sports history is, but it wasn’t this one. intentionally sucked for 3 seasons, had an unexpected pleasant surprise in 2015, dominated in 2016, were still pretty good in 2017 and 2018-2020 were varying degrees of mediocrity/awfulness. and now we’re apparently heading back to the 2012-2014 era. if jose ramirez is standing six inches to his right, the theo era would be considered a total failure.* *realizing that’s a big if and the WS in the middle of what looks like a horsefeathers sandwich is a pretty humongous plus.
  9. you realize this is their offensive philosophy right?
  10. hey watch a couple more of those dildos.
  11. keep eyeballing those 93 mph fastballs right down the middle boys.
  12. stupid dicks are going to score one aren't they
  13. if they lose, it better be a shut out for maximum embarrassment. none of this bull horsefeathers solo hr in the 9th trash.
  14. have to lead the league in fouling off center cut fastballs.
  15. other teams don't hit this many shallow pop ups to the outfield, right?
  16. you guys, watching them get swept by a combined score of 19-1 by the braves was going to be so painful anyway.
  17. have hamilton pinch hit for whoever is up first next inning, hope he can reach on a bunt and steal all the way around the bases.
  18. i guess that thing where all the supposedly good hitters that have sucked all season magically turn it on for the playoffs isn't going to happen.
  19. he looked like he was swinging a bat made of lead.
