  1. koskie left the field with the trainer.
  2. i got it...the surgeon was the patient's mother.
  3. you don't bury survivors.
  4. is it hidden in your post like the da vinci code or something? i'm dying to know.
  5. even a high school dropout can see that.
  6. dude, their payroll is like $150 mil. in baseball terms, a difference of ~$3 mil isn't much.
  7. what are you talking about? derosa makes more than two times what miles makes. if you're gonna bitch about trading derosa and signing miles (which is perfectly valid) in the offseason, at least have the facts straight. wait, you're the guy who was arguing about how successful high school dropouts are, right? all the sudden you're a stickler for pin point accuracy when it comes to numbers?
  8. it's like he's a considerably worse, comparably priced version of say mark derosa.
  9. um...really? So the day he steals the base that puts him over the break even point, there's no longer any risk associated with future SB attempts and he should run at every opportunity? Is that really what you're saying or am I misunderstanding? Um... yes. really. If the runner has amassed a SB% that exceeds the breakeven point by running at every single opportunity, then you continue to run him at every single opportunity. Or, if you prefer real life situations instead of impossible hypotheticals.... then if the runner has amassed a SB% that exceeds the breakeven point by running only in certain situations, then you continue to run him in those same certain situations. This goes to the definition of what a "breakeven point" is. There will be times when the runner is thrown out, and runs are not scored that might have otherwise. They will be outweighed by the times that the runner is successful and runs will be scored that otherwise would not be realized. If the percentage exceeds the breakeven point, then there is no risk. Math isn't that hard. Don't try to make so. Yikes. ok. In order to determine whether a runner has hit the 75% point, do we use career stats? Just ML career? the last season? truffle gets to decide.
  10. I was quoting stats from the last 9 starts of 2003, not the last 3. Reading comprehension is your friend. Look at some of those pitch counts. You can't tell me that didn't play a significant factor in his arm troubles. But Meph said it didn't (with no data to back it up), so it must be true and he did it with really witty sarcasm (lol jeopardy, get it?).
  11. and then dribbling it through the hole between 2b and 1b that has inexplicably been left open by the other team.
  12. no and his stolen base percentage in the bigs is 76.8%, there's nothing wrong with that. yeah he sucked at it last year but i'm not going to knock down his OBP last season because nobody gave him extra credit for his success in stealing bases the previous year. yeah, that's not how it works. and i did give him extra credit for it in 2007, so can you knock down his 2008 for me?
  13. oh what the hell. cashner.
  14. dominic brown
  15. liriano 4 ip, 0 h, 0 bb, 5 k's hanson 4 ip, 4 h, 1 bb, 1 er, 7 k's stay healthy and good please.
  16. if he doesn't play 100 games he has to do 50 hours of community service.
  17. Are you still crying about this? well, you got to break the rule you wanted to break, so you don't have anything to cry about. once again, i think it's pretty obvious that tim gets to keep the japanese guy on his minor league roster (unless he starts out in the minors). believe me, if i thought there was an argument that would prevent tim from having success, i'd be all over it...this one is just clear cut.
  18. neither is me not being allowed to deem ben sheets "injured" even though he's clearly injured.
  19. omg, do you have a learning disability? no one is saying the cubs shouldn't have traded hill or that hill is currently awesome at pitching.
  20. Ted Lilly was/ is much better. What I dont understand is why so much love for a guy with a 4 + era? Are you guys enamored by the strikeout? Do you know how many guys have shown a flash of brilliance and then fizzled out? If he was a great pitcher for 3/4 of a season or even a couple of seasons I would be on your side. The fact is he has so much going against him that this is pretty much his last chance. I trust that the cubs have made the right decision here because he wasn't good enough to even make this team. Ill take sean marshall over him anyday at least I know what pitcher is going to show up. There is no room for inconsistency in the mlb. What I want to know is why all the love for a mediocre pitcher with control problems? what pitch counts are indicative of his failure to perform under pressure please.
  21. isn't a full count the most pressure-packed count? career .200 BAA in that count. he's nails. uh oh, nevermind, a .350 BAA in 1-1 counts (let's face it, that's when the pressure is greatest). choker.
  22. I think its pretty clear from this quote that I wasnt happy with his performance hence the qualifier "as a pitcher." I dont see how that is remotely about his personality. well, then that's just dumb. over the course of 06-07 he was the best pitcher the cubs had and he was making like $300,000. it would have been better if you had said you didn't like his personality. i guess. i'm curious...what counts exactly are indicative of wilting under pressure? talk about an idiotic, cherry picked statistic.
  23. If you are referring to me, I'm not sure what you are referring to. I've never had Mark DeRosa on my roster. You must be confusing me with someone else. It's me that has DeRosa on my roster. And abuck has it backwards. I plan to play him at 2B (which he has eligibility at based on previous years) even though he was signed by Cleveland to play 3B. not really my point...i just don't think that tim stashing the japanese guy in his minor league system is any more skirting the rules than using a guy with multiple position eligibility...derosa was just the first guy i thought of.
  24. so does the japanese guy. irrelevant. has nothing to do with the minor league roster eligibility requirements.
  25. what is this skirt the rules stuff? is playing derosa at 3b even though he isn't the tribe's 3b "skirting the rules?" the reason fukudome, dice-k, etc weren't on a minor league roster was b/c they were immediately good. come on.
