  1. I like this. Seems like Eversley is was great at building relationships with players and agents, and his background of building brands with players with his time at Nike should help with recruitment. Would have liked a former player, but my very uneducated opinion is that this is a good hire. Also still has strong connections with Toronto, which further increases the likelihood of Adrian Griffin at the next coach.
  2. Neither of you make any sense. He's a B- player, but the pick is a failure? WTF does that even mean? I understand that he was a top 10 pick and should have an A player. But him being a failed pick because he's a B- instead of an A is some Ricky Bobby "if ya ain't first ya last" type of BS. I don’t really think you understand he was a top ten pick. If your top ten pick doesn’t make it to his next contest with you, it was a bad pick. Yeah this doesn’t make sense. He didn’t get cut because he’s a bad player, he got cut because he isnt worth the money. You got 4 years of cheap production out of him. It’s a B/C at worst. B- I think was pretty spot on. Many first rounders are out of the league after their rookie contract. Those are Fs. As someone else brought up, what would you rate the Amos pick? He wasn’t resigned after his rookie deal, so also an F?
  3. Pretty bad stuff in there. So that makes it sound like at least Gar is gone. That would be great. Of the two, id much rather have him completely gone from the organization. I really wouldn’t mind Pax being in a Doug Collins advisor to Reinsdorf type of role.
  4. 100% agree stating they want to hire a person of color for the GM role is dumb. Just do it. No need to say it ahead of time.
  5. They wanted to interview and weren't granted permission on either Webster (Japanese descent) or Troy Weaver. So, after that, your complaint is on the throwaway interviews that they didn't throw a minority in? Ok, fine, I guess. I also think it's a huge leap to know what we know about Webster's background and assume that he said, "Nah, I'm good" to an interview for an executive VP of bball ops for the team he grew up a fan of just because John Paxson might still have a title somewhere on the website and get a paycheck. If that's been reported, I've missed it, but as far as I know the Raptors weren't going to let it happen. The Troy Weaver thing sounds like it was for the GM role, not the EVP role, fyi. Where did that come from? I read those were the 4 preferred candidates and at the time the exact title/responsibilities of the position weren’t known. I guess you can infer that the Raps denying permission to interview may mean it was only to interview for the GM position, but it seems odd that 4 guys interviewing for the “same job” would be offered different titles. Edit: my bad read Webber not Weaver. I don’t know much about Weaver not being interested or the job he may have been interviewing for. Still assume all 4 were being interviewed for the VP job though, but who knows.
  6. Agree with that.
  7. What was 100% wrong?
  8. What a great day in Bulls history. Sports radio hot take: Jim Boylen the true hero in all this. His comical inability to be an NBA head coach just highlighted the deeper systemic ineptitude of the people in charge. Giving that dude a horsefeathering EXTENSION after half a year that went laughably bad was the nail in the coffin for GarPax.
  9. I like that quick release
  10. I’m HOPING testing will be much more readily available by summer with a much faster turnaround time on results. Though I don’t know how long after incubation before the test comes back positive. It’s definitely tricky and a great question. I’m still waiting to see how my work handles a positive test. At this point we have a few out as presumptive positive, but with limited testing available, they have not had severe enough symptoms to get approved to be tested. And the rest of us still have to work until we develop symptoms basically.
  11. So when the rest of the country returns to work you don’t think Professional sports players will? I certainly don’t think it’ll be right away and very likely without fans in attendance, but I would be surprised if there isn’t an MLB season come July or so.
  12. Players aren’t forced to sign these contracts now. When a large portion of the country is currently unemployed because of the outbreak and another large portion will eventually be laid off because of the tanking economy, NFL players are at the very bottom on my list of who got fucked most by this global pandemic. And this is IF they fail a physical that would limit their ability, or increase risk of them becoming unable, to perform at the expected level of the agreed upon contract. Most owners are terrible humans, but this is one thing I don’t really have a problem with them doing.
  13. Had he traded up and got Mahomes and Bears Mahomes is remotely close to KC Mahomes, Pace looks like a genius. Yes, some people would still say they could have stayed put to get their guy, and you’re giving up unnecessary assets. But If there’s a QB worth giving up assets for, give up whatever you have to. You just have to be right. Unfortunately I don’t really think Cam is that guy and Trubisky certainly wasn’t.
  14. Solid move. Cap # for Quinn shouldn’t be too much more than Floyd.
  15. I think Coby is more than a 6th man. Plays better defense and seems to have figured out how to score a little more efficiently in his first year in the NBA as a 19 year old without a real head coach. Yes, he didn’t “deserve” a spot in the rising stars game because his numbers were so terrible due to being grossly misused by his incompetent head coach. And also yes, a worst case scenario I see for Coby is he never figures out how to be a consistently efficient scorer and is a streak scorer off the bench and wins a few 6th man of the year awards. I think we may just have a different opinion on Jamal Crawford? He has 3 years with a VORP above 2 and a career PER of 15.1. He was a great scorer, but gave up a lot of it on the other end and never was much of a distributor. I have higher hopes for Coby than that. Hope he gets a real coach this summer.
  16. Disagree. Cobys eFG% and 3pt % are currently right in line with Jamal Crawford’s career numbers. Crawford didn’t break 10 ppg until his 4th year in the league. Yes, the game is drastically different now compared to then, but Coby is well ahead of where Jamal Crawford was his rookie year. Coby really needs to work on finishing at the rim. He has the speed and 3 point shot threat to consistently blow past defenders but he lacks the vertical and strength to finish. He’ll have to figure out some creative ways, but I’m sure it will improve and his efficiency numbers will climb. They already have with the addition of that midrange jumper.
  17. That pass, though. My god.
  18. I guess White is having an OK week, eh? Great month. Not sure if you’re quoting me as a gotcha kind of thing. Even including the tremendous month, he’s still the 35th worst NBA player by VORP (-0.3). At the time of the posting he was in the bottom 5-10 in the league. The point was that he was playing very bad and didn’t deserve to be in the rising stars game. Though in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter and why not let the hometown kid play? Anyway, I really like Coby. As a UNC fan, I liked him in college and was ecstatic when the bulls drafted him. He’s a fun, positive kid and seems like a good guy to root for. More importantly, he has a ton of talent. However, he was given too long of a leash and developed some bad habits early on. Hopefully the changes he’s made will stick and he can continue to get better. I’m mildly worried this is just a nice hot streak, but it seems like his floor is Jamal Crawford/Lou Williams.
  19. Same. Jo Noah 4ever. I hope he actually gets to play some real minutes.
  20. Why not? More is better. I am heavily in favor of a 19 week (17 game) season with 2 byes, 1 neutral site, and 8 home/away games. Anyone who plays on Thursday has a bye the previous week. Don’t really care strongly either way about 14 playoff teams. But I guess keeping the playoff hopes of more teams alive for longer makes the season more interesting for more fan bases.
  21. Arenado has been over .370 OBP each of the last 3 seasons.
  22. Get the man some help for fucks sake.
  23. Why not trade for Drummond if that’s all it cost? See how he fits with Zach and Lauri (if/when healthy) and if it goes well you have an advantage to resign him. He’s FAR from perfect or even a great fit, but he’s the highest quality player we can realistically expect to be able to sign to pair with Zach. You can then use Wendell as trade bait to get an actual playmaking point guard or split minutes with Lauri and backup Dre. Also, bring home Rose.
  24. You forgot to include not having to pay David Price $32M per year for 3 more years. Plus, resetting their LT bill. I would imagine they’ll be right back above the line next year.
  25. At 3/$55 or whatever the Dodgers will end up paying, David Price doesn’t have much, if any, negative value. I think the lack of return is due to Mookie only having 1 year of team control left. If we decided to not resign Bryant in 2 years, I hope he’s traded now or the deadline at the latest.
