  1. Hypothetical situation: This could go for any player, but we'll use Josh. Josh Hamilton is elected to the AS team as a starter. Sometime before the game, hes traded to the Cubs. What happens?
  2. Its gotta be Hoff. Lous been trying to find ways to get him playing time, well, the chance just fell in his lap.
  3. Not with back-to-back 5 inning SP performances. Like some said in another thread as long as he isn't awful he should stay in for 6 to rest the bullpen. And to the guy who said SOTOWNED ... to steal a line from a commercial BRILLiant! Remember who were talking about here. Plus the fact that this lifeless Padres lineup seems to have some pretty good stats agaist him.
  4. As a precaution, Marquis should be pulled before the 4th, just so, you know.
  5. I seem to recall a similar situation between Dusty Baker and Jose Macias.
  6. managers pull that when they have trouble producing runs.
  7. Agreed. While Hoff is a better pinch hitter than Fontenot or Cedeno, we need that extra middle infielder. If worse comes to worse, DeRosa can fill in in the outfield, but theres nobody else who can fill the middle infield. Well, theres 1 guy, but I pray that it never comes down to that. I vote for leave well enough alone.
  8. I wouldnt mind seeing a card carrying Cub Killer out of the division.
  9. I thought Hendry should have been fired the minute he let go of Will Ohman. I always told myself Carlos might have some of the best stuff I've ever seen, but theres something not quite right about those ears.
  10. theres a short line in front of him. we'll see what happens.
  11. He could be our Eckstein, Marcus Giles, Augie Ojega, Jeff Keppinger, etc. that we've hated for so many years but not had one of our own.
  12. That got a lot scarier than it should have. In a lot of parks, that would have taken us into extras. A wins a win though.
  13. The dazzling ERA of Marmols just took a beat down. Hopefully Woody can do the same to these last 2 nobodys,
  14. you realize he has a 148 ERA+ coming into tonight, right? Don't bother. Wuertz is the poster boy for the "but he looks bad to me" train of thought. I'm not a weurtz basher by any means, but it really is amazing how his numbers look so good while the impression that he leaves is usually not nearly as good. It's been pretty weird Wuertz lives and dies with that slider. When the sliders on, Wuertz is on. When the sliders off, Lou goes off.
  15. If the offense can pick up and Z can settle down, we should be able to win this.
  16. They'll be the Mega Cubs tomorrow if they win tonight. After that, if they win 2 more, they'll be the Ultra Cubs. . . . and two wins after that makes them the MECHA-CUBS! I was thinking "Hyper Cubs", but you know, if they get to 12 in a row I'll do that. Im satisfied with Uber-Cubs
  17. My prediction: The next 2 weeks, Jay Bruce gos .362/.450/.650 with 8 home runs, but is sent back to AAA more more fine tuning when Corey "finds his swing".
  18. Funny how when the Cubs are doing great, I could care less what the White Sox do.
  19. This still makes me sick to y stomach no matrter what Edmonds, Pie, or Johnson do.
