  1. I dont know what Lou said to Marquis during that fatefull mound visit a game or 2 ago, but it worked.
  2. Unfortunately, according to the score keeper, that RBI wont count just because.
  3. I know Im way late on this, but how priceless was it watching Eckstein crawl after that routine grounder like a 40 year old stripper after a crumpled 5 spot?
  4. Lets just try to avoid the sweep tommorow and hope we can take a few from the Rays.
  5. I dont like the sound of Blanco and Cedeno in the same lineup, even if they are 8 and 9.
  6. http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=MLB&id=2371
  7. Maybe Halladay will have some kind of frek toe stubing incident and have to miss a start. Seriously though, weve been pretty good againse aces this season, so hopefully that trend can continue. Granted, most have been at home, but Chicago, Toronto, whatever. Its just Wrigley Field, Canada, right?
  8. Of those I mentioned, Bradley might come the cheapest. Hes on a 1 year deal with Texas, and with Hamilton, Murphy, Salty, and Kinsler, they have som nic building blocks and probably dont have future plans for Bradley. Personally, with the limited amount of tradeabe prospects we have, Id rather save them up for a quality starter. If were looking for a cheaper alernative, there is Lofton, and Luke Scott and Jay Payton in Baltimore. Scotts putting up OK numbers, but I dont know if hed be much of an upgrade over a Johnson/Murton platoon.
  9. Sadly, Lou would probably do that before bringing up Murton.
  10. The Cubs as an organization have to be doing something wrong with their young players. In the years between Mark Grace and Geovany Soto there have been so many position player prospects that have just completely busted, and a few here and there that have made it as role players and journeymen. I refuse to believe that this is just bad luck.
  11. Its just to bad that with the merciless beatings the Cards and Brewers took, and we basically had 1 bad inning that the results are still the same and the day may as well never have happened. The Astros and Pirates lose, and Dusty Bakers Reds are the only winners in the division.
  12. I wasnt able to watch the game, but from what I can piece together, it wasnt a fun one. Oh well, if you have to lose a close one, its best to do it on a day when one of your rivals gets blown out and the other absolutely annihalated. Still. a 4.5 game lead and 20 games over .500 would have been sweet. Holliday is tough, but beatable, especially with an offensively inferior team.
  13. I said in the original post if Sorianos cast is removed 3 weeks from now and the damage will require more time than anticipated.
  14. If we were to have 2 guys pushing 40 in the outfield, Id rather Bonds be the second than Giles.
  15. I figure, eventually, posts about every respectable left fielder on every team with little to no playoff hopes would come up. Now, these are all players to think about if in 3 weeks, Sorianos splint comes off and reveals more damage than wed thought, and we need to fill that spot. Rangers: Milton Bradley .333/.454/.629 14HR 45RBI-Beautiful stat line. Granted, hes more of a CF/RF, but Im sur he could learn. Kansas City: Jose Guillen .283/.306/.500 11 HR 50 RBI-looks liek he doesnt like to walk, but the .500 slg and 50 RBI suggets he knows how to come through Seattle: Raul Ibanez .264/.332/.436 8HR 40RBI-it seems as though as long as the concept of trade rumors have existed, there have been those linking Ibanez to the Cubs. Pirates: Jason Bay .286/.394/.527 14HR 36RBI-would they do it again? send us a top notch player for our garbage? Bay has been rumored out of Pittsburg for 3 years now. Could this be his ticket out? Would they be dumb enough to trade him within the division? Reds: Adam Dunn .229/.397/.567 16HR 41RBI-very impressive OPS for a guy with a .229 average. Another guy whose always inn on the trade rumors, and with Cincy rebuilding with some impressive prospects, this may be the year.
  16. I think that Wuertz is just in Lous doghouse, but after Howrys last few outings, hes going to have to trust him a bit more.
  17. If we were to get CC Sabathia or someone similar, and planned on signin him for a few years, absolutely. When your a team with money, and not a lot of luck as far as position player prospects go, you msy as well get what you can.
  18. I cant see any major moves being made unless 3 weeks rolls around and Sorianos heeling process isnt on the pace they would like. In that case, Milton Bradley would be the most logical target.
  19. I think that a great fit for Jones would be the White Sox. They've been without a legitamate center fielder since they foolishly traded Aaron Rowand for mindless home run machine Jim Thome, and Brian Anderson has been nowhere near consistant. Plus Jacque was a Sox Killer in his days as a Twin.
  20. I think we all need to just accept the fact that after Reed Johnson and Jimm Edmonds have experienced some success, every time a once decent player is released, Hendry is going to jump on him. Morgan Ensberg, Sidney Ponson, Jeff Weaver: Your tables are ready.
  21. Ive only been following MLB scoreboard, but it looks like one of those games where the offense colectively rolls over and plays dead and Zambrano pays for 1 mistake. I love those games.
  22. as discussed in his call-up thread, it's probably because Lou/Hendry see him as a lead-off hitter. that and he's left-handed. poor reasons probably, but i'd guess that's what they are thinking. Theriot or Fuku could hit leadoff just as well. I have nothing against E Patt, but Im just saying. Anyway, lets win this game. The Brewers have Sheets going against Moehler, so you can chalk a win up for them, and the Cardinals have a pitcher going up against another pitcher, so they'll likely win.
