  1. Harden had a rocky outing last time around. Turns out, he didnt enjoy it, so hes going to go back to doing what he does best, and dominating.
  2. Yeah, thats ridiculous. I've been to Atlanta a lot to watch the cubs, good teams and bad. There is always a huge cubs population in attendance. Id expect that from some announcers, but not Chip. Youd think hed know better. Its not our fault he jumped onto a sinking ship. Whatever, lets do it again tonight.
  3. Would you be upset if Lou decided to rest Jim's legs for game 2 with a 6 run lead? Absolutely not. I just wanted to hear that there no injury involed. This is Edmonds were talking about.
  4. I noticed Edmonds was pulled for Johnson. SOmeone tell me it was just righty/lefty thing and nothing more. Thanks in advance.
  5. Looks like weve gotten well into there bullpen full of guys Ive never heard of and probably never will again.
  6. Any recolection I once had of Jim Edmonds in one of those red jerseys fades more and more every day.
  7. Yeah, but in a much more limited sampling, we have Sean Marshal with a 3.65 ERA and 1.16WHIP. I know hes valuable out of the pen, but he caould be one hell of a #5. Marquis might be OK out of the pen. I know the routine for a starter and reliever are very different, but Marquis usually looks solid in his first 2 or 3 innings. I know that Marquis doesnt want to be in the pen, but if he wants to make the PO roster, he should. I don't get why Marshall doesn't pitch. I don't remember him ever being that terrible. aside from his first outing, he was very good as a starter when Z was out.

  9. Interesting how we talk about Marquis as a top of the line 5th starter, but the fact is, it seems like hes pretty much on par with those in the rest of our divison. Jason Marquis-4.73ERA 1.44WHIP Joel Pineiro-4.82 ERA 1.46WHIP Randy Wolf-4.67ERA 1.47WHIP and the top number 5 starter in the NLC Dave Bush-4.35ERA 1.13WHIP I guess Jasons just your run of the mill #5.
  10. I just hope our boys took the time off as an opportunity to study up on Morton and Campillo.
  11. The assumption that if a team scores large ammounts of runs one game game, they wont score any the next game. Also the opposite. When the team doesnt score any runs one game, they've been saving up and will automatically have an offensive outburts the next.
  12. Those White Sox commercials with the cardboard signs. Especially the ones with Nick Swisher doing stupid things. They're this seasons Dane Cook October commercials.
  13. Most of the current Braves have very little history against Marquis. Andruw Jones killed him, but he's moved on. Chipper has hit 3 home runs against him in only 6 at-bats. Overall though, there's no real idea if this Braves squad is a bad matchup for him. every matchup is a bad matchup with marquis That's not really true. Let's give Marquis credit for the good starts he's had. He's not a 65 ERA+ pitcher this year. He's a 95 ERA+ pitcher, which isn't really all that horrible for a #5. The Braves are no juggernaut this year, it's nothing like facing them when they were a playoff team. The other thing is, he's been holding pretty steady through the year. Putting up some bad starts, then some mediocre ones, with a smattering of good starts. We're in mid August now, which is usually well past the time when Jason collapses. Hasn't happened yet. Let's hope it continues. I agree with what you're saying. I take issue with the bolded part though. It's much better than "not all that horrible." For a number five starter, it's actually pretty great. With Marquis, its not so much complaining about what hes done so far this season, its his history of completely coming undone in the second half, and while it hasnt happened yet, its anticipating every time he steps on the mound. I guess Dempster hasnt reverted to bad Dempster, and doesnt seem to show any signs of doing so, so maybe theres hope for Marquis this season. With Rich Hill and Sean Marshall on the 2009 horizin, maybe Marquis can build up some OK trade value for the offseason. He could be a number 4 or maybe 3 starter on a lot of teams. Hell, he could be a number 2 on Washington.

  15. Yeap. He's not automatic against *US*, so if we faced Milwaukee in the playoffs and put, say, Z against CC -- I'd feel like we have a very good chance of winning that ballgame. Hes only been "automatic" against Cincinatti, St. Louis, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Washington. Of those teams, St. Louis is above .500.
  16. Sam Fuld might be de-rostered too. I could see someone claiming Fuld. Not as much for Fox or Harben. Remember when Hendry deemed Fuld "untouchable"? I still say it was part of his master plan to try and get other teams interested in an otherwise useless prospect.
  17. Its time to remove Chad Fox, Adam Harben, and Sam Fuld from the 40 man. Jake Fox might be worth a call up, but Gooz, DuBois, and Koyie Hill could all prove helpful as September additions. As for Rich Hill, as far as Im concerned, shut him down until next year. Hes useless as far as 2008 gos.
  18. Beat these losers X2 I guess the good news is, I cant imagine Chipper starting in both games.
  19. Sabathias good, but hes no more automatic than Zambrano, Webb, Cliff Lee, or Halladay. The difference is that Sabathia has recently entered a league with limited experience against him, and most teams havnt figured him out. However, aside from the Cubs and Cardinalshes faced a bunch of sub .500ers. Basically, as the cliche gos, The Brewers are beating the teams they need to beat, and they've faced a lot of them lately. We still have games with the likes of the Pirates, Astros(now with 100% less Carlos Lee) and The Reds, minus 2 of the top Cub Killers ever. Oh yeah, and that AA team from Washington. The Cubs and Brewers are the NLs best, and I cant imagine both not making the post season.
  20. This Cha Seung Baek guy is all kinds of bad.
  21. They are 18-4 in their last 22 non-Cub games. If the Reds, Nationals, and Padres cant stop them, nobody can.
  22. So not only do the Red Sox blow a 10 run lead, but now Mike Lowell leaves the game with a back injury. Not a good evening for the Red Sox thus far. Not good at all.
