  1. Well this doesnt look encouraging Then again, its rotoworld and they by opinion more than anything.
  2. Whats he supposed to say? Were the second best?
  3. Our offense was fine yesterday. Depends on what you mean by fine. home runs, check. base hits, check. Clutch hitting with RISP, not so much.

  5. Theres only 1 guy left who trusts Howry, and unfortunately, it's the guy who decides if and when he should pitch. But hey, at least he stays cool as a cucumber when hes giving up runs in bunches, so that counts for something, right?
  6. Thats true, but isnt it kind of hypocritical? Everyone complains about a batter celebrating, but never a pitcher. It should be all or nothing.
  7. It doesnt have to be a Cubs, just anyone. If it looks like a batter stands at the plate too long after a home run, they are sure to get plunked, if not in that game the next, however, every time Valverde gets a save he makes a complete jack hole out of himself. A lot of pitchers get excited about a bit out, from everything from fist pump or pointing to the sky to Brian Wilsons little X across the chest thing, but Velverde gets down right excessive. How theres never been any retaliation toward him is well beyond me. Obviosly, its very rare that a closer gets an at bat, so someone else on the team should pay the price. Either that, or I cant wait until the day when one of our guys finally gets a walk off off him and beat there chest and proceed to do a Rick Flair march around the bases and WOO at every base.
  8. My prediction: The doctor finds nothing wrong with Zambrano until he breaks his hand punching a wall because the kid in front of him took the last root beer flavored Dum Dum.
  9. Id take a complete game of Latroy Hawkins over an inning of Bob Howry. Speaking of which, theres a good chance we'll be seeing Old Hawk this evening.
  10. And its no exaggeration when I say Id prefer Mark Guthrie, Antonio Alfonseca, Roberto Novoa, Glendon Rusch, Eric Gagne, Guillermo Mota, Boone Logan, Mithc Williams, Cliff Bartosh, or Rick Vaughn over him.
  11. Ugh, Randy Wolf has pretty much owned us. Hopefully we can turn the tide and Demp can shine.
  12. So you're saying if we lose 5 out of our next 6 we'll still be more likely than not to make the playoffs(and your #s are wayyyyy too low on that. We'd be at worst 4 games up on a playoff spot with ~20 to go.) I mean, do people really think that this team all of a sudden is terrible? Remember 4 games ago? Not terrible, but couldn't we have a thirty game run, against tough competition, where we go 10-20? I guess I just want the Division and not the Wild Card. Every other team in the NL is more likely to go on a 10-20 run than we are right now. You're basically fretting over Chaos Theory. Granted wed prefer the division, but why cant we just clinch a PO spot, enjoy that, and then worry about the division.
  13. The pitch was down and in. Lee swung at a pitcher's pitch, a ball he would not be able to drive even though he did get pretty good wood on it. As wild as this guy was throwing, Lee had no business swinging at that pitch. That game had a lot of goats. You really cant pin it all on Lee. Just a lot of bad baseball in general. You're right about that. Howry wins the grand prize. Lou finishes a close 2nd for the stupid bunt attempts, bringing up a kid to the plate who has never seen a major league pitch in his life at a critical time, wasting Wood and Marmol for Wednesday, bringing in Howry. I'll give Lee third prize since he swung at a borderline ball 2 after the pitcher just walked the previous hitter on 4 pitches. Aramis did have 3 errors, but the first two didn't affect the game and the third one was actually a web gem if he nails the throw. 4th prize goes to the umpire, who should have called Berkman out on strikes on a ball right down the middle of the plate, which instead was called ball 4. I'm all out of prizes for now, but I'll restock for today's game since Howry will likely get the call at some point today. Not if me and my trusty crowbar can help it.

  15. If we lose the DBR series, then I will begin to panic and think about such things. Until then, its September, we have a 4.5 game lead and a magic number of 14.
  16. Why would they put anyone on the 15 day DL when hey can have up to 40 men on the active roster? Touche... but you get the picture. If Zs OK, I still like the idea of him and Harden sharing a rotation spot until October.

  18. This season is remiding me of the 2005 White Sox. They were dominating for most of the year, and began falling apart around late august and september before pulling away in the last week or so. Hopefully we at least have a PO spot clinched by that last week though.
  19. Lets just keep those updates flowing as they become available.
  20. Asuming that it is nothing, my suggestion would be to have Z and Harden share a rotation spot throughout the rest of September, with Demp, Lilly, Marquis, and Marshall filling it out. Again, the last problem was a shoulder problem, and I have yet to hear the word shoulder mentioned.
  21. Maybe 2 days off is just what this team needs.
  22. Awesome. Now thats a rant. Seriosuly though, its Randy Wolf. I wouldnt be surpised at all if the Mets complete a sweep at Miller as well with Oliver Perez vs. Suppan.
  23. Players leave games every day with random soreness. More pften than not, maybe they miss a few games. The good thing about it being a pitcher is he has 4 scheduled days of rest anyway. Arm soreness better than shoulder soreness. Also, as Dexter said, if he misses the remainder of the regular season, no big deal. Unless 2 other WC contender go on an insane tear, we really only need to win 10 more games if that, and we have 5 other pitchers who are well capable of that. Granted, 3 of them are a lot more capable than the othe2, but I like the odds.
  24. I'm down. Islandcub, can we update the game thread title? big time
  25. Honestly, we had a damn good August essentially without Zambrano. So Harden doesnt get his week and a half off and Z misses a few starts.
