Is Chesny someone we should be excited about? He is always hitting, but it seems like it's only singles. Does he just have a highs BABIP, or is he just leg out grounders? I really don't know what to make of this one. He's 22 in and between A/A+ he's at .336/.403/.404. Not much power to speak of, and doesn't walk much. It's tempting to make the obvious small, gritty, white guy comps. But in their age 22 seasons: Ryan Theriot (A) .252/.335/.313 Tony Campana (RK/A-) .267/.340/.267 Sam Fuld is a realistic comp. His first year pro, he was 23 at A: .300/.377/.433. At age 22, Stephen Bruno hit .362/.436/.478, but only played 19 games. His only full season was the next year when he hit .276/.346/.393 at AA. After getting overly ambitious with Dustin Pedroia, who hit .305/.384/.426. 5HR At AAA, I came to a man who I perhaps despised more than Jim Edmonds in his heyday: David Eckstein. At age 22 at A, he hit .301/.407/.426. He had more power and more walks. But if a slightly poorer man's David Eckstein is Chesney Young's ceiling, I would be very Ok with that.
