  1. But say we were to acquire a rental to make our team better, thus improving our chances of not only making the playoffs, but doing something when we get there? In this strictly hypothetical scenario, would you be cool with it? Or would it just [expletive] up your plans of being sad and angry until Spring Training when you can begin preparations to be sad and angry next summer?
  2. Tensei is from an alternate timeline. Everything he says makes perfect sense in his world. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/uQwn8tNWGoI/hqdefault.jpg ?
  3. Kind of surprised that DeWees and Zagunis got in ahead of Jimenez. All and all, it's not nearly as sexy as last year's, but there's a lot to like about our top 30.
  4. Even for a Rockie, his splits are startling H: 326/384/599 A: 258/313/440 He does have 7 HR in just 15 games at Wrigley fwiw Hell, that .258/.313/.440 looks downright Ruthian compared to our lineup the past month or so.
  5. Perhaps it's time that all these so-called douches be brought together for some mega-douche super-team: Harper, Puig, Latos, Braun, AJ. Ozzie Guillen can manage. They can round up guys like Milton Bradley, Elijah Dukes, Josh Sale, and Zambrano who douched themselves out of baseball. I bet Manny would be up for another comeback. They could travel the world, barnstorming and knocking up strippers.
  6. Hooray? http://www.jokeandsmile.com/images/2013/July/14/51e339681fbcf.gif
  7. Why are people acting as though Jose Reyes is chopped liver? He's only 32, and while he may not be the best defensive SS, he's still a very valuable player, whether they chose to flip him or hang onto him.
  8. Dallas Beeler vs. the best offense in baseball. Well alright. Who wants to get tomorrow's game thread going?
  9. Maybe I'm terrible, but I am what I've always been. You, on the other hand, were once a mostly intelligible poster who happened to be an at times amusing [expletive]. But over the years, you've kind of spiraled into the purposeless, mean spirited love child of Waldorf/Statler and Jeffrey Albertson. Don't worry, I'll read your venemously witty, eloquent rebuttal. But really, I've nothing further to say on the matter.
  10. I think you should be allowed to keep posting stupid stuff, and people should be allowed to point out the stupidity of said stupid posts. Absolutely. But then they shouldn't be surprised when they drag virtually every thread into oblivion.
  11. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/dodgers-yasiel-puig-listening.html Yes please? A lot.
  12. Don't like what somebody posts? Roll your eyes and move along. Because as I've said before, it's not so much the "meatballs" who derail the threads, it's the resulting snowball effect every [expletive] time. If one who becomes overly worked up over a tense baseball game makes one a meatball, what does that make one who becomes overly worked up over what some overly worked up fan types? Feel free to piss, [expletive], and gif all over this. But at the end of the day, I don't think that anybody's going to disagree.
  13. I can't think of anything else like the Nomar deal. 4 teams, 3 of which were contenders to some degree. Selig (or whomever was in charge of sorting these things) out must have had one hell of a headache sorting through all that. Hell, B2B himself couldn't have drempt that up after an Adderall smoothie. It would be like: I mean in terms of what the Cubs got vs. what they gave up, yeah. But I just took a moment to look back on that trade, and damn. Has there ever been anything like it?
  14. Looked a lot more like gang warfare to me. Yes, it's a sports discussion forum and people are going to lose their [expletive] when the game turns wrong (and subsequently not get it together again when things turn out allright because the vibe has turned). But when it looks like there's going to be more pages bitching at each other than actual game thread talk during the game, it's time to step in. Or maybe because this board is like a room full of manic depressive, menopausal, divorcees who can only allow themselves a few fleeting moments of happiness before they begin obsessing over something stupid.
  15. Former conflicting Rangers 3B prospects Mike Olt and Christian Villanueva have both been red hot over the past 10 games. Certainly picked a good time to do so.
  16. At this point, there are 7 teams alive in the NL. The Cardinals essentially clinched in May, so to hell with them. The Nats and Dodgers lead their respective divisions by narrow margins. At this point, the WC race is down to the Cubs, Pirates, Giants, and Mets, though the Giants and Dodgers could easily switch places in the next few days. I was just taking a look at the schedules, and first off, we have back to back series vs. the Pirates (3) and Giants (4) 8/3-8/9. Needless to say, this is a crucial week. After that, we have another 3 games vs. The Giants later in the month, followed by the Dodgers. And then we play the Pirates 6 times in September. Meanwhile, in August, the Pirates have 4 vs. the Giants and 3 each vs. The Mets and Dodgers, and another 3 vs. the Dodgers in September. And the Giants and Dodgers meet 7 more times. Buckle up, we might just have a playoff race on our hands.
  17. http://m.cubs.mlb.com/chc/video/topic/70087564/v302995383/colchc-bryant-walks-cubs-off-with-tworun-homer I feel like this past weekend and top of the 9th ruined Len's spirits. He called that off the bat like it was a warning track fly out. He's been very angsty latest battling Twitter trolls and complaining about them publicly. I think Cubs fans broke his spirit because he used to be so laid back and easy going I think it's the other way around. His sprit had bedn a hollow shell for the past 5 years. He's finally reaching the point when he cares enough to fire back.
  18. It wasn't long ago that "and it all comes down to Kris Bryant" generated excitement.
  19. So we can make room for the latest incarnation of Gonzalez German or Yeorvis Medina?
  20. If we'd have traded for him like I suggested, we'd be up 7-3.
  21. At least we have Schwarber coming up this inning. *checks imaginary scorecwrd* *crumples it up* *punches hole through wall.*
  22. [expletive] it, I give up. When the arms work, the bats don't. When the bats work, the arms don't. We have a poorly oiled machine on our hands.
