  1. Desperation move of the day: Fukudome to left, Soriano to 3rd, Jim Edmonds in center.
  2. Seriously, if we want to remain in contention through this crud storm, there going to have to make a trade for someone, and a quality player at that. Even at this point in the season there will be available guys, but yeah, you're going to over pay for someone, but thats just the way it is, unless we want to wait til another next year. Cantu, Huff, and Atkins can all play 1st and 3rd. Huff and Atkins would be much cheaper, but at this point, I say go all out and see what the Marlins want for Huff. We could also look into Beltre. The fact is, Hoffpauir is doing well, but he cant hit lefties to save his life, and we cant afford to bring up another minor leaguer. The only ones who can hit anything are outfielders.
  3. Cubs win 7-1 after A freak collision between Hoffpauir, Fontenot, Miles, Soto, and Bradley, chasing a routine foul pop up. All are carted off in stretches except for Miles who comes out un phased.
  4. Give me Mark bloody Guthrie.
  5. Kevin Hart blows another one for Iowa after a perfect inning by Stevens. Please dont let Harts major league experience give him the call up over Ascanio or Stevens.
  6. I bet Hart is next in line, even though hes been awful and Ascanio and Stevens have been great.
  7. He'll be back in spring training.
  8. Id rather face the Mets or Phillies than the Dodgers, who with or without Manny are pound for pound the best team in the NL.
  9. The problem is there are 4 guys in the pen who you cant trus period. Guz is OK at times. You dont want to over work Marmol and Gregg, so you have to put in someone. I have a feeling that Ascanio and Stevens will be joining us tomorrow in place of Fox and Patton, and Heilman is 1 bad outting away from being buried at the end of the pen. If Wells looks sharp in his next 2 starts, he could be a good option as a long man. Cotts is awful vs. righties and lefties, so theres no point keeping him just because Lou wants a lefty in the pen.
  10. Lou will be far too busy ripping his relievers a new bung hole to deal with the media.
  11. Its funny that Len and Bob are talkig as though we wont have an entirely new relief core tomorrow.
  12. I would not want to be Heilman, Cotts, or Patton after this game. Lous going to be out for blood. Fox got lucky with his career ending injury.
  13. Gotta see who the next Cub is to be injured please be Heilman, please be Heilman, please be Heilman.
  14. At least we know the Cubs are still capable of scoring run. Hopefully they save some for Marshall tomorrow.
  15. Lous just doing his best to work with what he has. I guarantee he'll be pressing Hendry to get him a quality third base option. Its not his fault that 4/7 of his bullpen is absolute garbage.
  16. Seriously, after the way the last 100 years went, the big moment wasnt going to come with a monster 97 win season and storming all the way to the end. It was going to come with a difficult season when they have to claw their way to the top through a roller coaster ride and overcoming every obstacle you can imagine. Its going to come on the last out of game 7 of the World Series, and it will be vs. the Red Sox or Yankees, not the Royals or Rays.
  17. Hopefully they can suspend this one until July when the Cubs have their act together.
