  1. Yeah, it was one of those days where a pitcher gets hit hard. Even the outs were hard hits. I have no doubt he'll bounce back. He did, but Soria blew it. I wonder what's going on with Soria. Not the same guy as the last two years and they claim there is nothing wrong with him. That seems to happen with closers an awful lot, more so than with other players. they have 1 or 2 great years, and then fall apart. Maybe due to injury, maybe the league just figures them out. Chad Cordero, Dan Kolb, and Derrick Turnbow are a few recent cases that come to mind. Huston Street was on that rout, but he seems to be pulling it together OK with the Rox.
  2. HAHAHAHA. It's already a terrible contract. Can you imagine how it's going to look in 3 years? You mean when hes batting 8th in a lineup consisting of Sam Fuld, Doug Deeds, and Joe Thursten?
  3. I just flipped over to MLB Network and saw that....LOL. Wow. Stupid Mets giving the Cobs new ideas on how to lose games. :hello: Not that the Cobs need new ways to lose games, but wa happened?
  4. If we do decide to sell in a month or so, I wonder what we could get for Harden, assuming he stays healthyish. The Mets and Phillies would surely jump all over him. The Tigers, Red Sox, and Rangers would definitely show interest. Maybe the 2 LA teams as well. If this were to be chalked up as a lost season by that time, we could getsomething very nice for him. I dont anticipate it happening, but its still an interesting thought.
  5. i'm going to assume this is just speculation and is untrue, because if i knew it to be true, i might have to drive to chicago and personally strangle hendry. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
  6. Freel up Wadell down should be coming any minute. Not that it matters.
  7. This is not last year's team. This team resembles last year's team about as much as an orange resembles a Ferarri. They're both baseball teams, its just that one was good and ones bad.
  8. Right now, the White Sox are up on the Brewers 2-0 bottom 4 and the Indians are beating St. Lou 4-1 in the botto of the 7th. all the same, Im sick of scoreboard watching, and if the Cobs cant take care of their own, someone else deserves the chance to lose to the Dodgers.
  9. They wont be sellers in the fire sale sense of the word, but they could dump some of the players in the last year of a contract if they think they're out of it when the time comes.
  10. I just wish we would luck into one. So I could stop watching them. You know Kosuke will hit again. You just have to be patient with him. Next May isnt too far away.
  11. What's entertaining about today? We finally scored at least a few runs, and the pitching finally gave up a few today. Both were bound to happen eventually, but of course in typical Cub fashion they happened in the same game. I would have been more interested in seeing his comments if we lost another 2-1 extra innings game today. um...yeah...we didnt um.....play very good baseball today. uh....the kid....um Wells had a bad start so....um.....yeah........the team isnt....um....isnt....theyre not playing very good baseball lately. More like "Well...we finally scored a couple of runs today, and then...our pitching staff picked a bad day to finally have a poor game. It's just the way things are going for us right now, what can I say? We're gonna try to build on today's offensive performance after the 5th inning today and try to get em tomorrow." His opening statement to the press conference will probably sound like that. The thing is though, 3 runs does not a good offensive performance make.
  12. Lilly and Zambrano. Maybe Soriano if the fans keep foolishly voting for him American Idol style.
  13. Certainly not this year, or next, or probably 2011. It'll be a while till we have the financial flexibility to make the moves necessary to win it all again. I keep thinking back to the 2005 White Sox. Theyd just gotten rid of 2 of their stars in Carlos Lee and Mags, and the 3rd, Thomas was a non factor all season. They replace them with scrap heapers Jermaine Dye, AJ, and Pods, sign an unknown from Japan and end up putting together a juggernaut.

  15. How could you not be looking forward it, what with all the hilarity on the field and such..... I suppose the best thing would be to download the Benny Hill music on my I Pod and play it on loop the entire game.
  16. Weve been waiting on that entertaining post game, and i hasnt happened. Probably wont this time either.
  17. The problem is, with all of the large, unattractive contracts that Hendry has dolled out like religious pamphlets, it will be hard to make The Cubs are rebuilding seller. Even if we could move Bradley and/or Soriano, wed still have to gut a significant amount of their salaries. therefore, I wouldnt move Lilly. If it comes down to it, Harden could net us something decent, as could Gregg. Reed could maybe net us something, but could be more valuable packaged with Harden or Gregg.
  18. Tomorrow will be the first time in memory that Ill be attending a Cubs game and not looking forward to it.
  19. Apparently, you didnt get the memo that its now the "least bad player of the game"
  20. Why waste another guy. Do you really think Fukudome-Theriot-Miles are going to get anything going vs. Nathan, or anyone else?
  21. The parade of bad continues. And no, we wont be scoring off of Nathan, so Patton can give up all the runs he wants.
  22. Lets see if Geo can do something or other here.
