  1. Jackson, Carpenter, and Archer=good day for pitching.
  2. If the Brewers want to annually trade their best prospects for rental pitchers, let them. Make no mistake, Halladay would pitch well and keep the Brewers in contention for the year and a half that he's on the team and then he'll hem and haw over how great an experience it was to play in Milwaukee and hit up all of the city's best all-you-can-eateries with Prince Fielder and how he's "considering the Brewers' offer" and then bolt for big-payday free agency as soon as he can. It helps everyone else in the division for a smaller-market, smaller-payroll team to continually give up their best prospects for a player who won't be with the team long-term, particularly when that player would be owed nearly $16 million in 2010, nearly 1/5 of what will likely be an $80 million-ish payroll. Plus, Halladay gives the Cardinals a great pitching staff, where hed give the Brewers a decent-good pitching staff. Halladay and Gallardo would be a great 1-2, but then they still have to patch together 3 more starters with what they have.
  3. A wins a win, but damn, we need to kickstart the offense. This isnt gonna fly in Philly.
  4. Im not joking when I say that Z should be batting 6th or 7th when he pitches. Hes easily on the top 5 in guys on the team Id want at the plate in a crucial situation.
  5. That inning felt like they scored like 7, and they may as well have as our offense isnt on of those ones that is good at scoring.
  6. is 3(4 when Miles returns) bad secoond basemen better than 2?
  7. Maybe Andres Blanco can hit lefties, but I guess we'll never know.
  8. And why should they? Their offense is solid enough, and depending on how far a way Strasburg is from making an impact in the majors, they could just be a few mid rotation starters and a few solid relievers away from a major league baseball team. Which is why I found it funny how pundits would say certain players on the Nationals could be had for trade...Get that team some good pitching, and they can compete with the other teams in the divisions. A lot of people see a bad team with good players and automatcally assume that they want to give these players up for the first offer. While this may be true with teams looking to shed pay roll, if money isnt the issue for the Nats, theres no reason to trade these guys.
  9. If they really want the guy, why not just wait until he clears waivers and is released and pick him up? The only way Id condone trading for Lugu is if the Red Sox take Aaron Miles of our hands, and I doubt theyd do such a foolish thing. I really wish Hendry would see what The Royals want for Teahen instead of trying his luck on every crappy middle infielder alive.
  10. And why should they? Their offense is solid enough, and depending on how far a way Strasburg is from making an impact in the majors, they could just be a few mid rotation starters and a few solid relievers away from a major league baseball team.
  11. The Red Sox will eat like 20 million on Lugo(remainder of 9 mil in '09, 9 mil each for '10+'11), the Jays 15 on Ryan but we cant eat the 3+ million left on Miles contract?
  12. Soto was nice and healthy, aside from being a bit on the tubby side when the poll was created, but they're now saying that he should be out for just another 2 weeks and we'll likely stick with what we have at that spot.
  13. Not if you need a loogy in the bullpen and Hart doesn't really fit into your team's plans. I suppose Hart for Burnett wouldnt be the worst thing in the world, as thats the best thing we could get for him alone, however, he could also be very enticing to a team as a throw in in a larger deal, as he is a major league ready guy who can start or pitch out of the pen.

  15. What we need is a good middle infielder. Lugo does not fit that description.
  16. As it is known, I willingly endorse giving most washed up players at least a shot, but even I would want no part of a guy with an average bat at best and below average glove. No thank you very much.
  17. And people are saying the Cardinals package with Wallace isn't enough? The Jays appear to be looking for MLB ready or near ready talent. Marshall seems like he's "just a guy" otherwise he'd be pitching every 5th day now. Vitters looks very promising, but he's only 19 and at high A right? I don't know much about the other guys, but I figure it's the same for you when Cards fans mention Todd, Jones, Kozma etc. We ALL overvalue our team's prospects. With all the Halladay talk, it's going to be interesting to see if a team swoops in and gets Cliff Lee. If the Indians are smart, theyd hang on to Lee. Granted, this year is a nighmare for them but they have the talent to come back next year and take that sickly division.
  18. I'm sure we could get Aaron Hill, just have to take back either Vernon Wells or Alexis Rios. Id take Rios if theyd take one of our outfielders.
  19. I know its a moot point because we dont have the money right now, but would something like Marshall, Vitters, Castillo, and 2 of Jackson/Coleman/Carpenter/Cashner be enough to land Halladay? Maybe throw in Jake Fox or something of the like.
  20. Between Ryan, Fossum, and Gaub, I think we can find a loogy. We have limited trade assets and money, so Id rather go for offense. If only Aaron Hill was available.
  21. With our luck, they'll manage to sign Strasburg and he'll start one of those games.
