    Ive never seen Chris Carpenters mug shot before. goofy looking dude. I always pictured him looking like that other guy with the same name.     Interesting how this report seems to think Hendrys going to go out and make a move to match them. I call he pulls Hanley Ramirez out of nowhere. I know, not going to happen, but if it did, Id go on record as saying Id never bad mouth the man again.

    In the end, we got a pretty decent closer for a guy who was out of the league like 6 months later.

    Hendry rarely overpays in deadline deals. I agree. Between Hendrys 3 big trades in recent years, Aramis, Nomar, and harden, the only player whose done anything at the big league level has been Brendan Harris, whose essentially Ryan Theriot. We'll see where Gallagher and Donaldsons careers go. If we can get a solid loogy for spare parts, then go for it, but please dont give up prospects that we can use for something bigger and better in the off season. If one of these teams want something like Kevin Hart, Sam Fuld, or even Aaron Miles, they can have them, but I dont see that happening.

    Fukudome Theriot Lee Ramirez Bradley Soto Soriano Fontenot This lineup is just as talented. Now, staying healthy and playing to your talent level hasn't been the Cubs' forte this year, but if you are looking at potential lineups/production - this lineup is just as good. Potentially, yes, but weve been waiting about 4 months to see it, and weve gotten it sporadicly at best. Hopefully, Milton can do what Jacque Jones did in late 2007 and catch fire late in the season after being terrible for most of it. Apparently, the Tigers want Holliday too, so hopefully they get him.

    Is the anti-Sox snark really necessary? This is NORTHsidebaseball.com, so I think it is necessary. I don't hate the Sox. In fact they could go 156-6 during the year and it'd be perfect happy as long as those 6 were against us. Call me Bisoxual i guess What, Im just saying that Sportscenter might give Buerhle a full 3 minutes of their time before they go back to talking about Manny Ramirez or the Yankee and red Sox.

    From 7/8: They're stupid. Let's not trade a guy who a) won't be here after next year and b) won't help us win a championship because our pitching is terrible even though he is their best trading chip and would likely bring in at least one top pitching prospect, maybe even an extra mid level prospect as well. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Were talking about a team whose on track to blow 2 top 3 draft picks in 2 years. That entire franchise just needs to be liquidated for its own good.

    Theres little question in my mind that they're going to get someone, and it wont be fun for us. There lineup would look something like Shumaker 2B Rasmus CF Pujols 1B Holliday/Dunn RF Ludwick LF DeRosa 3B Molina C Lugo/Ryan SSS Wow, thats wouldnt be fun at all.

    So I guess this means that people outside of the south side of Chicago might recognize that the city has 2 teams for a few days for the first time in 4 years.

    Theres really no point to going after a loogy unless were giving up next to nothing. Why not give Gaub, Ryan, or Fossum a chance before giving up prospects for no good reason?

    Mark Buerhle has a PERFECT GAME through 7. Does anyone think Buehrle will complete his PERFECT GAME or perhaps his NO HITTER?

    If they end up with a Dunn, Hallday, or anything of the like, they're going to have a real good team on their hands, and all we can do is hope Hendry or whoevers the GM next year can make some nice offseason moves.

    Am I the only one who sees JP Ricciardi as the dorky kid on the playground with the really cool toy, and while he wants everyone to comehang out with him, he has no intention of letting any of the other kids play with it?

    With us facing the Reds, the Cards facing the Phillies, and the Brewers facing the Braves, theres no reason that we shouldnt be in 1st place by Monday. For a little while anyway.

    Screw the Reds, I'm concerned about this Rickie Weeks guy and his 30-30 potential That Rickie Weeks guy you speak of will likely be in Milwaukee for 1 more year tops.

    Between Gaub, Ryan, and Fossum, we can find a loogy without having to give up anything we could use to trade for a bat or something in the off season.
