  1. Two, apparently. And there's also the possibility of moving Chad Fox to the 60-day DL. Ahhh, Chad Fox. I almost blocked him out of memory. Forget the 60 day, he could just be dropped. No one else is going to claim him. No one. But since we have two slots open already, it's a moot point. Seriously, they did this last year knowing he would pitch again. If they love the guy so much, give him a job as a minor league pitching coach but he has no business taking up a40 man spot.
  2. Looked good, and of course, he wasnt at Wrigley. The showed a stat this evening that Harden this year has a 7.59 ERA at Wrigley and a 2.59, which dropped this evening on the road. If it keeps up, they might need to consider a home/road platoon with Marshall or someone.
  3. That wouldn't make Soriano guilty of an atrocity. That would just make him a member of the 1988 Cubs. And "member of the 1988 Cubs" would include front office, scouting, stadium staff, random vagrants inhabiting Wrigleyville, etc.. rumor has it that there's a "yosh was here" tattoo on her nether region Thats woo woo right woo woo whose you're woo woo daddy.
  4. I didnt realsie Miles was on a rehab. In his typical fashion, he went 0-3. They'll no doubt send Fox or Fuld down when hes ready so we can have 3 crappy second basemen instead of 2.
  5. Bradley has a .855 OPS since May 25. I'm actually aware of that, and he still pisses me off. Same. Id rather Bradley, who can at least take a few walks between crappy at bats than Soriano who cant seem ti do anything right. Just give a chance at 2nd and give Fuld and Fox a shot at left. If Sorianos has to suck somewhere, why not be it somewhere where he wont be holding more productiveplayers back?
  6. Its always those scrappy little middle infielders we cant get out.
  7. This one could be viewed as a good thing if hes hauling Miles out of town or the worst offense of them all if hes bringing him to the Cubs.
  8. Looks like it will be a little while before we see him, as I would have expected.
  9. Only one man gets it, and unfortunately, hes the one who puts the lineup together.
  10. Yay low risk potentially high pay off maneuver. It worked with Jim Edmonds. Question is, by 1 year deal, does that mean the rest of this year or through next year?
  11. Someone told me that the Nats have the 3rd best offense in the NL. that cant be right, can it?
  12. If they add Joba and another prospect, or just Joba and take Well of their hands, they could have a deal.
  13. I just hope the Nats dont get one of those new manager hot streaks going.
  14. I think the idea is that theyd get the same prospects theyd get for Halladay alone, and Wells contract off the books would be an added bonus.
  15. In fairness to Hoffpauir, he was a bit of a late bloomer but is only 29 right now so it's not like he is some old guy they finally decided to promote. Even Bobby Scales is only 31. I'm sure it's a typo and he meant late 20s. Chances are a player would be released and out of baseball before he hits late 30s if he hasn't been called up yet. That is correct. Unless were talking Scotty "Die Hard" McClain.
  16. This is really a worthwhile strategy if you can pick up guys who were once legitimately good for cheap. I agree. The good thing about Ryan is hes on a 2 year deal, so even if we were to pick him up and completely shut him down for the season, wed still get 2010 for league minumum, and since we dont know what the financial situation of the team will be by then, thats the kind of risk Hendry should be willing to take. Theres a very, very good chance we wont be able to sign the big money free agents, at least for the next few years, so Hendry needs to learn to bargain shop.
  17. if people stop eating gross arby's food, the cards might have to declare bankruptcy too. but curly fries are so tasty.
  18. Big plus if he can get anywhere near where Neal Cotts was before. I have little to no expectations, but all the same, Id be all about the low risk move, and if he can help the team, more power to him. If not, just throw him in the pile with Scott Williamson, Wade Miller, Chad Fox, and Shingo Takatsu. I remember after we had some success with Dempster in 2004, it seems every year since Hendry has picked up an injured once good pitcher in hopes of salvaging them, but it hasnt worked out. Maybe this will be the one.
  19. Thsi is a follow up to the off season one that someone posted. Not quite as funny, but worth a look. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqtgGsaipaM
  20. Wow that's kind of a White Sox move, wishing harm to a player That really is a dick thing to say. Why do we have to wait until 2011?
  21. In fairness to Hoffpauir, he was a bit of a late bloomer but is only 29 right now so it's not like he is some old guy they finally decided to promote. Even Bobby Scales is only 31. In prospect terms, 29 is some old guy. Even if he plays until hes 35, he'll only have a 6 year major league career.
  22. Halladay doesn't become cheaper, he becomes untradeable. Repeat after me "Nobody Will Take Wells In A Trade. The Yankees might if the Jays dont mind sending him there. New Yankee Stadium would be the ideal place for a guy like Wells to find himself.
  23. Ill give it a stab 1. Josh Vitters 2. Andrew Cashner 3. Jay Jackson 4. Chris Carpenter 5. Starlin Castro 6. Hak Ju Lee 7. Casey Coleman 8. Dae Eun Rhee 9. Brett Jackson 10. Josh Harrison -Darwin Barney, Marquez Smith, Tyler Colvin, Tony Thomas, Steve Clevenger, and Michael Brenley are all guys Id like to keep an eye on, as well as multiple young pitchers(Searle, Gaub, Archer, McDaniel to name a few). I dont know what to make of Rebel Ridling. I could see him as a Hoffpauir type, finally making it to the bigs in his late 30's. -I also dont quite know what to make of Samrdzjia at this point. We need to decide if hes a reliever or a starter and go with it. If we plan on using him as a starter, hes much better off in Iowa than at the end of the bullpen in the bigs. -Aside from Jackson, I really no nothing about any of the AZL or DZL guys.
  24. Yup, expect Lilly to take the hill for the Cubs Thursday. I would assume that we'd see Lilly, Zambrano, Wells, Harden in the Nationals series in that order. I just can't believe the AL keeps winning. And the weird thing is, pretty much all of the recent games have been close. And if Ted Really cares about being left out of the game, he can take it out on Charlie Manuels team next week.
