  1. Dont look now, but I think we may be seeing the mythical creature that can carry the team on his back for weeks at a time.
  2. Man, it sounds like Lous reading his own dughters obituary there. Either that or he just knows hes made one of the dumbest moves in baseball history.
  3. The National League. It will fade. Or maybe Rothschild is working some Duncanian magic on him.
  4. OK, Im getting optimistic about Silva and its scaring me.
  5. If Lee and Ramirez can heat up while Soriano and Soto are on their little tears, that would be just super.
  6. I doubt Sorianos ever going to live up to the contract, but if he keeps doing what hes doing, offensivelty anyway, Ill take it.
  7. Maybe they have no intention of miving Z to the pen at all, and its all an attempt not to look quite as bad when they trade Castro and Cashner for Scott Downs later this week.
  8. Looks like were in a rain delay. Tune into CSN if you want to hear Lou defend his lunacy.
  9. Nothing against Silva, but I kind of want him to get shelled tonight just to hear Lous post game interview when every question revolves around his big bullpen aquisition and why he did what he did.
  10. Probably the same idiots who see W/L and ERA as the be all and end all of pitching. Never underestimate the power of idiots in large groups.
  11. Or they can be upfront with him and tell him that they have no intention of re-signing him or exercising the team option and ask if they can trade him. It wouldn't hurt to ask. It would hurt next year when our 3-5 hitters are Byrd, Soriano, and Fontenot. Despite his brutal start, hes our best hitter. Id prefer letting Lee and Lilly walk and using the money toward bidding on Adrian Gonzalez or Prince Fielder when they become FAs in 2012. the 2011 FA class is far from plentiful. The 3B class is highlighted by Jurge Cantu and Mike Lowell. In fact, looking up and down the list, I cant imagine Ramirez not opting out and not getting a 3-4 year deal when he does.
  12. Im thinking that a Heath Bell trade wouldnt have been the worst thing in the world, as long as we could have gotten away without trading Castro, Cahner, Vitters, or either Jackson. Could they at least have shopped Gorzolanny? Could they at least have given Parker, Stevens, Gaub, or even Diamond a shot before taking the non stop flight to planet crazy? This is not rational.
  13. No pressure Silva. Your 2 good starts have sent our ace to the pen. Try not to turn back into a pumpkin. As for the lineup, I cant wait for Lou to go Billy Martin and pick names out of a hat.
  14. A yard sale would be even better. Because people could walk up and see almost all the items laying around the yard, and then the seller can go, "whoops, that one isn't really for sale. Whoops, not that one, either, or that one or that one". Those pesky no trade clauses, ya know. I know, but Lee's contract is up at the end of the year. If he's told he won't be re-signed, I'm sure he'd agree to a trade to a contender. Same with Ramirez I'm sure. Im not picking on you, but a lot of people dont seem to get that Aramis is NOT a free agent after this year. He has an opt out clause. The only way hes not on the team next year is if he choses to excersise it. If not, we have him for 2011 with a club option for 2012. But who knows, if Chad Tracy proves he can be a respectable starting 3B, maybe we can use Ram as a backup catcher. I wouldnt put it past Lou at this point.
  15. I guess we really did need a good 8th inning guy. We could also use some righty pop off the bench. How about Derrek [expletive] Lee? What the [expletive]. Can we just fire Lou and Hendry for this lunacy? I cant wait until Silva gets shelled tonight and Gorzolanny in his next start so this move looks even worse than it already does, if thats possible. Does Rickets even know or care what goes on around him? Is he even paying attention or is he too busy living out his dream of owning the Cubs? I know when Z is getting shelled, people vent and say send him to the pen, but nobody ever thought it would happen. I remember reading about Z or Dempster going to the pen when Lilly returns, but never too it seriously. [expletive] Lou. [expletive] Hendry. [expletive] the bullpen for being so god awful and allowing Lou to even entertain this lunacy.
  16. Last time Lou managed a lost cause, he resigned. Maybe he'll be kind enough to do the same with this lost cause. Before the season, I never would have thought that the starting rotation would have been the only bright spot on this team.
  17. Surely even our sickly offense can rack up a few runs off of Perez. As long as Carlos Silva doesnt chose tomorrow to remember that hes Carlos Silva, we might be able to win this one. Sure hope so, because we have no shot as beating (or scoring on) Johan, and a 4 game sweep at the hands of the Mets following a home series loss to the Astros would be pretty damn embarassing. Lets see what Lous Lefty Killahs are made of.
  18. Homeless man's Juan Pierre. So hes Joey Gathright you say. Thomas Diamond had a pretty good outing. 6 IP, 1 ER, 4K. Does anyone have a first hand report on his stuff? Maybe we can bring him up when we trade Lilly to a contender in July.
  19. I expected mediocrity this year, not total failure. If you're going to be brutal, go all out. If the end result this season means that the Piniella/Hendry regime comes to an end, this year is worth it. Why would Ricketts have to wait until the end of the season? If he's an intimate a fan as he presents himself to be, he should be sick of this along with the rest of us. Seriously, what do we do with Z, Soriano, Grabow, Fukudome? They're not going away. And why does Ramirez not care about being good at baseball until it's warm weather? Fukudome might be the on moveble of the bunch, but wed end up eating about half the 2011 salary. Id really like to give Colvin a bit more playing time to see if he can cut it as a starter. The way were using him now, wed be better off letting him play in Iowa everyday and letting one of our 30 something non prospects rot away on the bench.
  20. Just out of curiosity, assumign that the All Star team were to be decided today, who would our default All Star be? Dempster? Marmol? Wells? Silva??? I hope to god that after this disaster of an off season that Carlos Silva ends up being our pity all star.
  21. Soriano has been one of the few guys on the team coming close to a competant hitter lately. Lees in a bit of a slump, Fukudomes already a black hole, and god knows what the hell mis wrong with Ramirez, but he needs to come out of it. The only thing this team really has going for it right now is starting pitching, and even thats not good enough to carry an offense this bad. Our team just isnt good. face it.
  22. A no hitter woulf be just super this evening. This team definitely has the talent to be 2006 bad.
