  1. What are you talking about? Dempster was pitching great up until the 7th when he should have been pulled when he was clearly falling apart with well over 100 pitches.
  2. I suppose if you must be a failure, you may as well be a spectacular failure.
  3. I figure a sweep is the best thing that can happen. Not only does it force someone to finally evaluate this joke of a team, but it keeps the Cards further from first.
  4. All of these teams with payrolls the fraction of the Cubs fire their manager when their team is predictably bad, but the Cubs, woith their massive payroll just let Lou run them into the ground. A shame, really.
  5. The ironic part is that Hendry actually had himself a pretty good offseason without spending much money at all. Granted, the Grabow extension was awful and pointless, but he flipped Bradley for Silva, who has been our most consistant pitcher and saved some money in the process, and that was the deal that was supposed to be the nail in his coffin. He then signed Marlon Byrd for a steal of a deal, and even Xavier Nady was a pretty good deal. granted, he would have been more relevant had Tyler Colvin not emerged, forcing him into a 5th outfielder/spot start 1B, but we could still end up with a solid prospect or 2 for him.
  6. This space reserved for Either Orioles/MacPhail or Cards/Duncan/pixie dust Comments.
  7. Nah, this team probably cant even do that right. Knowing them, they'll go on a last minute hot streak in September that wont accomplish anything but knocking them out of the top 10-15 in the draft.
  8. Nobody gives a [expletive] about the Cubs besides Cubs fans, Cardinal fans and White Sox fans. Calm down. I dont know, Cubs, and Cubs fans are pretty well hated amongst other NL teams, especially NL Central teams. were like the Yankees without the talent. I think a big reason is because of the way that much like Yankees fans, Cubs fans flood the opposing teams home field when we play them and drown there fans out, especially with the smaller market teams. I believe it was Brian Giles who once said of the Cubs that it must be nice for every game to feel like a home game.
  9. Nah, the Cubs haven't reached laughing stock status. They're bad but it's not like the Cubs are getting blown out every game. Even though these one and two run losses seem to hurt more... As long as the pitching remains as good as it has been (especially lately), they can't be the laughing stock (that currently belongs to Baltimore). Baltimore is the worst team in baseball, but there was never much expected of them. There not relevant enough to be a laughing stock. The Cubs, on the other hand have a bunch of underachieving sluggers, and while the expectations for them werent as high as they have been the past few years, they werent expected to be quite this awful. The starting pitching has kept them in a lot of games, but the offense is just brutal. Of all of the "fecal league" teams, The Cubs payroll dwarfs the rest, aside from the Mariners.
  10. yeah, yeah, whatever. Fire Lou. Fire Jim. Trade this guy. Release that guy. Move that guy to this position. Send these guys down. Call those guys up. Who the hell cares, this team sucks. Nothings going to change. At least Silva didnt get another undeserved L. Im very close to accepting him as being legit. we MUST be the laughing stock of major league baseball by now. There are other underachieving, dissapointing teams out there, such as the Brewers, Mariners, and White Sox, but are even they the epic fail that the 2010 Cubs are? I mean these guys are just bad.
  11. So to anyone who was watching this dead ass team play, did that Lincoln kid look that good, or were the Cubs just that bad?
  12. If Lou chose to rest Soriano instead of Byrd, wed be in extras. Probably lots of extras because neither team looked like they had any intention of scoring.
  13. Interesting game for Diamond. 4 IP, 0runs, 1 hit 5 BB 7 K.
  14. Wow, looks like Fonz found himself another mushroom, but the rest of the Cubs managed to make another mediocre at best pitcher look like the love child of Christy Mathewson and Sandy Koufax.
  15. i don't think that's likely. i can see him being a september callup straight from tennessee, depending on their playoff situation. That would really be a waste to start his arb clock ticking as a 4th-6th(or 5th outfielder depending what happens with Kosuke and Nady) on a dead ass team.
  16. The Royals also have a ton of talent coming. And Alex Gordon OPSing aroun 1.100 at AAA. They are a good GM hire away from being pretty good. Id take Billy Butler and his record setting GIDP pace over any hitter on the Cubs. Dayton Moore might have given him to us in '08 when he sent him down because he didn't have power. When he was 21. I thought it was only the Cubs that did that.

  18. Thats because the Cubs suck. If they could have mustered just a .500 record vs. the Pirates and Astros, they could be somewhere in this joke of a divison, but there just not good enough. Once in a while, they'll come up with an offensive barage, but then the bats predictably go back into hibernation. How the hell the man who paid $200 million on this trash still has a job is beyond me.
  19. Pathetic excuse for a team full of pathetic excuses for ballplayers managed by a pathetic excuse for a man. Cant even beat the [expletive] Pirates on a 17 road game losing streak. Why is it that these [expletive] teams like the Pirates, Orioles, Royals, and Marlins fire managers right and left when they dont even try to put a team together, but a piece of [expletive] like Pinealla with $200 million worth of ballplayers cant do a god damned thing with them. 9 games back or whatever in a [expletive] division, there probably isnt much hope for this team, but if there is a faint glimmer left, it aint going to be with Pinealla. The guy needs to go. Hopefully getting swept by the Pirates will yield some wholesale changes.
  20. If you ever need a single with nobody on, Theriots your guy. If you ever need an RBI, your probably better off with a paraplegic girl scout with a heart condition.
  21. I was half heartedly follwing the game on game day and couldnt help but notice that Grabow was lifted in the middle of an at bat after an "injury delay"? Without Grabow, we dont stand a chance of making the post season.
