  1. Hell, if it happens, I wish hed personally call Jeff H and have him deliver the news.
  2. Could it be that the shock is that Wilken got word that Rendon will fall to 9th :beg: :beg: :beg:
  3. Was it Wilken or someone else who said that Wilken plans to shock the world? I guess the glimmer of hope is that when somebody announces their intent to shock the world, its usually not in a gut wrenching fashion.
  4. With the 9th pick in the 2011 MLB amateur draft, the Chicago Cubs select...Russ, this guy Tim Wilken met in line at Starbucks. What is known about Russ? Well, hes 43 years old, works as a [expletive] supervisor at Menards, and is fighting his soon to be ex for custody of their Golden Doodle fifi. Do we know anything else about him? No, not really.
  5. They are Pujols and two mediocre decisions away from a *very* expensive 81-win team. Theyre also Pujols and 2 good decisions away from a very expensive 90+ win team.
  6. No. Everyone was shocked. The MLB network crew didn't even know who he was.. The thread from last year is around -- I think still on the first page.. Look at it for a few laughs. Many thought Simpson was left handed, LOL. And were pissed when they found out he was right handed. I remember imagining him on his couch eating a sandwich and looking up at the TV with a perplexed look on his face when they announed the pick.
  7. Hey dad, Im pregnant with the child of the guy who mops up the liquer store, and I smashed your Mercedes. Just kidding. I did get my belly button pierced though.
  8. If he pulls something idiotic, hopefully Ricketts shocks him by firing his ass.
  9. Maybe the resources haven't been allocated to pay a top pick? Just bouncing ideas out there. Dont they have until August or something?
  10. Yeah, this sounds like a guy you want to use a top 10 pick on. In the best draft in ten years seriously this is a left handed Jeff [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] Samardzjia. For the love of all that is good in this world, dont do it Wilken.
  11. Quick, where is Tim Wilken right now and how long would it take me to get there and chloroform him until the draft is over?
  12. Yeah, this sounds like a guy you want to use a top 10 pick on. Cant wait to see him make his big league debut as a loogy when hes 28.
  13. - Kevin Goldstein This is a guy the publications hadn't mentioned till about an hour ago. - Keith Law Onelki Garcia Speck sounds Cuban for Hayden Simpson. By all means, lets watch everyone else draft the studs and we'll be OK with a farm system full of potentially decent major leaguers.
  14. Agreed. People talk about the Yankees and Red Sox just going out and buying their team, but there is a significant portion of their cores that come out of the farm. If you look at the teams that build strictly through the farm system, theyre small market teams who if their lucky get a 2-3 year window to compete before the majority of their players start skipping town for bigger money and are maybe able to retain a few of them.
  15. For some reason I thought that Wes Darvill was going to be converted to a pitcher,
  16. I will change my mind should Hendry and Quade be left in charge of our turnaround. So you dont think that the Cubs should go after the big name free agents next year? Sorry, but when your a big money, big market team, you dont just sit their and wait for the kids to grow up. You go out and sign the big free agents, and make some trades when needed and hopefully are lucky enough to pull some gems from the farm as the Yankees and Red Sox have done.
  17. So you agree with the article stating that the Cubs shouldn't go after Pujols or Fielder, but you will change your mind if the Cubs don't make the right offseason moves, which would involve signing Pujols or Fielder.
  18. The funny thing is, recent good teams for the Cubs have mostly been rapid turnarounds. '97-98. '00-'01 '02-'03 '06-'07. '11-12 :beg:
  19. Good choice, sir. The premptive "if you disagree with me, it's NSBB group think" is a classic. Anyone that has a dissenting opinion here is automatically a fool. The irony here is that the general NSBB "groupthink" is that we would trade Z for the RIGHT prospects, but to railroad him out of town for nothing or a bad contract would be ludicris, especially considering the state of the team as is. And where did I railroad him out of town for a bad contract or nothing? Any trade of Zambrano needs to return players to build around. Yes, and thats how most people feel, but your making it sound like your going against the grain here and standing up to the NSBB powers that be by suggesting this.
  20. It would have nothing to do with any comments hes made, just that it would be the wise move.
  21. So you're saying that despite the fact that the Pirates have an exciting group of young players, you want Alfonso Sorianos twilight years? As long as they take the contract. Enjoy.
  22. I spy a flaw in this surely relevant reasoning though. It also rhymes with "Everybody's buying tickets". not to mention pickets, wickets, crickets, lickets, and anything else ending in ickets.
  23. I dont know who Baez is, but he sounds like the equivalant of tube socks for christmas, and Lindor sounds like Darwin Barney with the potential for 10-12 home run power.
