  1. The best part of games like this (other than the winning part) is looking back at the fatalism portion of the game thread for a laugh.
  2. FFS, I took a minute to walk the dogs and oversee the kids putting away their Play Doh ( I horsefeathering hate Play Doh,) and I missed that.
  3. That's how it's done, you whipper snappers. Now it's almost 4 pm; time for Joe to have his supper and get to bed.

  5. When the Loogy can no longer Loog, it's time for him to go.
  6. As the years go by, in my mind, Scooter Gennett and Skip Schumaker will morph into one.
  7. If Gameday is accurate, the home plate ump was very generous to Grimm there.
  8. i have no idea what could have happened Meanwhile, in Twitter-land...
  9. I don't know about "super useful," but his 1.5 WAR vs. Montero's -0.6 would make that statement more truth than sarcasm.
  10. At least Davies was an actual prospect; they got him last year for Parra. But this pudwack kind of materialized out of nowhere at age 31 as a 2.4 WAR pitcher. Was in the Braves and Mets systems from 2006-2008, spent 2009-2014 bouncing between Mexico, Venezuela, and Indie, and resurfaced with the White Sox system last year.
  11. If you look at every big league bullpen, you're going to find 2-4 guys who can be regularly counted on in high leverage situations, and the rest is all about throwing horsefeathers at the wall through a revolving door. If middle relievers were better, they'd be late inning relievers.
  12. Oh, the Mystery Team. My money's on a Texas team. Maybe perennial bride's maids, The Dodgers.
  13. IMHO, it's only a matter of time before the White Sox leave town, anyway. This could be the start of the first time in recent memory that either Chicago team has been dominant for a significant stretch of time while the other is awful. And being as the Cell isn't like Wrigley/Wrigleyville, where people are drawn in for atmosphere alone, there's going to be more and more empty seats over there. The fact of the matter is that the 2005 Sox were an anomaly; a patched up group of players who managed to defy all baseball logic. But it was enough for Kenny Williams (who like Theo, is essentially GM despite a fancier title,) to earn the endless adoration and employment of Jerry, who's allowed him to spend the past decade thriving off those championship fumes and do pretty much whatever he wants, thus driving the franchise into the ground.
  14. But he's 55 years old, horrible, and everybody hates him. What GM in their right mind would trade away such a valuable asset?
  15. and the Cardinals package includes Wong. nobody [expletive] wants Kolten Wong. Nobody [expletive] wants Warren either Don't get me wrong, ours is a mighty fine package. But none could possibly stack up with the Red Sox, which includes 2 of Moncada/Beninendi/Devers plus 2 others. And if the Red Sox were to acquire Sale, the very thought of them is absolutely terrifying.
  16. Can't forget the Mystery Team. There's always the Mystery Team.
  17. Maybe it wasn't so much the throwback uniform he didn't want to wear as it was a White Sox uniform in general.
  18. It's the time of year when every time someone like Eloy or Torres miss a game, or even an at bat, I have to update Twitter that much more.
  19. I don't doubt that his age and track record both point to his ability to turn things around, but until it happens, it could be time to bat him 8th. Maybe 9th when Arrieta or even Hammel are pitching. Just saying.
  20. I have to imagine that was one guy's delusion and a few other guys maybe entertained it. But I can't imagine a rational human being or beings thinking such a thing. This being said, The Rangers are reportedly very interested in Sale, and I could see them sending Profar, Gallo, and Brinson. If they want to make things interesting, they could expand it to include Robertson and/or Abreau.
  21. Nobody should ever give up top end prospects of any kind for 2 months of anybody.
  22. Wade Davis would be absolutely awesome.
  23. I feel as though that's the first time Zobrist's been on base in like a month.
  24. Colome sounds great, but I don't see the point of adding Jennings, who seems like a poor man's version of Almora in terms of production offensively and defensively. Yeah, I'd be excited about Colome. I wasn't aware Jennings has been this awful. Just leave him be. If there's any chance of him returning to form and if he's a throw in with Colome, I don't see the harm.
