Sure it was. We got a guy who had the potential to be a starting 2nd or 3rd baseman in addition to 2 high ceiling pitching prospects. Granted, none of them turned out they was we would have liked but at the time, I was satisfied with the return for 2 months of Ted Lilly and a guy we didn't want anyway. It was certainly better than trading Greg Maddux for a guy who's ceiling was, well, Cesar Izturis. if DeWitt does not accept the minor league assignment, I'm guessing somebody will pick him up. He's the type of player that nobody will give up anything of value for, but if he's free, why not.
