  3. Thanks for rounding up
  4. I really hope this isn’t Alfaro as Jed will go
  5. Oh good, we’re back to the Mervis portion of the discussion
  6. Kyler Murray as a downside comp is laughable
  7. I’m just highly skeptical of any qb in this class being worthy of 1st pick. They all seem like guys that will be drafted first because that’s the rule, not because they cemented themselves as no doubt qb studs coming out of college. The history of 1st pick QBs taken out of obligation rather than worth is terrible. Caleb Williams came into the season as a supposedly no doubt better option than anybody from last years draft, and I didn’t see that at all in the handful of games I watched. He’s a smaller Justin Fields. I feel like the biggest benefit at this point is ending the Fields debate and restarting the QB clock. I dont see a football related benefit to the selection, at this time. I’m not locked into that thought, and maybe it changes by April. But, I see a lot of change for changes sake arguments being made and I say that as somebody who has advocated for such things in the past.
  8. Holy horsefeathers what a goal by Bedard
  9. I believe the thinking is the “best qb” may not actually be that great and the BPA truly is. And he’d be a guy that helps whatever qb you’ve got. QB first always and forever is a flawed draft theory that has blown up repeatedly.
  10. The de facto for any qb taken in draft is he starts on the bench. There should be no automatic path to starting. If fields is traded over summer, that draft pick is starting by default, unless you bring in Andy Dalton Jr. If Fields starts the season and succeeds, great. You don’t have to trade him. You can play out the season with the pick on the bench. If the rookie takes over the job, great, he should be able to eventually, but not necessarily preseason. Then you have Fields as backup in case of injury and/or trade him to a good team with a dead qb midseason. If you can get a 1st in the summer, by all means go ahead and deal Fields. But if your settling for the likely middling market for Fields, you might as well keep the insurance policy in your back pocket. there is no deadline to trade fields. You don’t have to do it. It’s not dumb at hold on to a talented qb
  11. Disagree whats your reason? There’s nothing dumb about that. There is no motivation to trade earlier than necessary.
  12. I really don’t envision a scenario where Getsy returns and Fields is gone.
  13. ****** teams keep winning games
  14. I’ve never watched the manning cast before. Is it always this bad or is Kirk Cousins just that lacking in charisma?
  15. It’s weird that people are complaining about multiple games airing simultaneously anyway, Jordan love aint it
  16. No, that’s just a truism. If he keeps up the running he’ll wear out his career early. It’s a nice weapon to bail you out, but unsustainable.
  17. No. He’s maybe playing his way to being traded for something more than a 4th rounder, and having his 5th year option picked up. But he hasn’t done anything the merit contract talks. unless he wants third tier starter money
  18. I mean come on. You can win a Super Bowl with that level of QB. It happens. You gotta keep bringing in other guys though, whether it’s 1st rounders or 2nd day guys. Not just UFAs.
  19. Midwest thin, maybe.
  20. Fields returns to Ohio as the Bears visit Cleveland and Joe Flacco on Sunday at noon. Cleveland is 6-1 at home and 8-5 overall but only +17 on the season with 3 huge blowout wins and a whole bunch of 1-3 point wins. And they also got spanked by the Broncos, Rams and Ravens while splitting the season series with the mediocre Steelers. This is a good team, but nothing special. The defense is stout, leading the league in yards/game by 20 (and the Bears by 50). The bears don’t gain a whole lot of yards either, but they are basically even with Cleveland’s offense. the difference in this game should be the Bears defense. A mediocre effort has been turned around, the additions by Poles have begun to payoff and might actually save Eberflus’s job. They can’t finish over .500 without running the table, and a win in this game doubles up last seasons win total. As for the question, relax, it’s a meme. Ask your kids about it. No, he’s not elite. He hasn’t even hit 2,000 yards passing yet this season. (He’s thrown for half as many as Stroud) and sits more than a thousand yards below Derek Carr, Jordan Love, Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield. He is a special talent you can win with in the short term and better than a bunch of garbage guys currently playing in the league of attrition. Anyway, this is a winnable game if Fields wants to remain an NFL starting Qb. The bears are 3 point dogs, and probably would be 8+ if they hadn’t turned a corner following the Chargers debacle. People realize this team is dangerous and capable. But the Lions are the only truly good team they’ve beaten under Eberflus, depending on how you feel about a Trey Lance led 49ers team in a monsoon. The Lions game is being called a “signature win”, but a victory in Cleveland might throw a whole bunch of analysis out the window.
  21. How am I supposed to drink now? oh wait, I’ve got it now
  22. “In a new country” can’t have much meaning for a guy already coming from another continent when that “new country” is basically upstate New York.
  23. It will be traded mid season
