  1. I think DE is a more important need than just "depth" with questions on how good Houston will be when he returns and Allen is aging and middling (has he had a good game against a starter this year besides Matt Kalil who clearly shouldn't be starting?). Post flu he's been a factor at least. Probably more than any defender, not that it's says much.

  3. why would the rays be obligated to pay him this season? he quit his job He is moving forward and considering other opportunities. This is what happens when an under contract internal candidate does not get the head job. This happens in sports all the time.
  4. That would be interesting because I assume he was here on the recommendations of Kromer, who would presumably have a big say in the depth chart. And the staff did not seem to warm all that much to a guy many thought was the better option.

  6. He's under contract and going to be paid by Tampa next year. I think the permission would be a formality and the use of "resign" isn't technically correct.
  7. Chicago Bears ‏@ChicagoBears · 22m22 minutes ago #Bears have placed OL Brian de la Puente on injured reserve with ankle injury and promoted DT Brandon Dunn from practice squad.

  9. Why are you so gullible? That's revealing nothing. Give me a name or it's a mindless rumor. you're funny
  10. are any former cubs officials still employed by the Orioles? Hendry still works for the Yankees. yoinks

  12. That's the kind of logic that led to letting go of Ramirez because adding 4 guys' WAR together could replace him. But with a five-man rotation, I think I'd rather have Arrieta, Liriano, McCarthy, Hendricks and No. 5 spot then Lester, Arrieta, Hendricks, Turner and Straily or other No. 5 spot. (Yes, I realize we should be able to get Lester AND one of them, but still). That, and I'm just not interested in giving a non-Clayton Kershaw $25 million per for that many years. If there is a great offensive option at that price, sure, but I'd rather have two quality pitchers than one really good one for that cost and the years. So you're not interested in ever signing a TOR pitcher. Fair enough I guess. Even Samardzija types are going to be getting that kind of money. I think that's fair to say. I would want Clayton Kershaw for that much at his age. But for the most part, just not interested in giving one pitcher that much money and that many years. Because whether we like it or not, that $25 million per season during those seven or eight years will prevent us from doing a lot of other things. I'm just not sure Lester is the guy to go all in on like that. They have nothing else to spend it on. You are purposefully tying one hand behind your back as a team if you refuse to play with the big boys.
  13. \ As long as you aren't an owner or your compensation is not tied to the level of profit of the Cubs, you should not have such thoughts.
  14. the term "not accurate" is loose enough to account for a lot of stuff.
  15. My brother won that bad boy but I never contended.
  16. okay theo we get it, you guys tried. call off your dog

  18. The level of fun watching them win the super bowl would be more than enough to offset the lack of fun from the regular season games. I had more fun watching the Bears take the lead in a Super Bowl in a season in which they were awesome than in just about any individual game that season.
  19. Think it's just a younger version of boy scouts are you people serious? i have never been involved in scouts or looked into the hierarchy in any way think there was one kid in my grade school class who was a cub scout. he was a huge dork and picked his nose a lot. no boy scouts that i was aware of. cubs scouts are the young ones, when parents forced you into it. Boy scouts are the weirdos that enjoyed it and chose to stay around and put an effort into it. We probably had close to half the boys in our class in cubs scouts, and had to wear the uniform a couple times a year.
