  1. Have we talked about Mark Grace Dot Com? I think we should talk about Mark Grace Dot Com. http://www.markgrace.com/ And the highlight is the Off-Field Activities section, specifically the Battles with Alcohol tab http://www.markgrace.com/otfalcohol.html Never a good sign when you have to point out it was the first. http://www.markgrace.com/gracephotos/markgrace_michellegrace.jpg
  2. He's a [expletive] national treasure, and he may or may not have horsefeathers khaleesi Lol wut it's canon
  3. yes, what a travesty that would have been? It would have been annoying. He's a [expletive] national treasure, and he may or may not have fucked khaleesi
  4. You have your hands full defending his .6 war, 52nd of war ranking, 12th on the cub and 7th among cub position players. Oh, and his defensive war of - 3.6. I’ll let you chew on that for a while. I could care less about yet another meaningless solo homer by one of the most overrated players in baseball. I'm fairly impressed how you have that war/ranking/position/defensive war thing so memorized. But how is a solo homerun meaningless in a game you lead 9-7?
  5. Thank God they didn't try to bring him into the booth for an interview. yes, what a travesty that would have been?
  6. I think this may have been his last chance.

  8. He doesn’t defeat the shift because he has no interest in doing so which fits in with the rest of the launch angle club. In Kyle’s case, he thinks 2b is the foul line. [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]Why did he keep bunting in foul territory?
  9. Our better starters are all fragile/volatile and half the bullpen arms are trash. So, what exactly is the downside?
  10. I'd prefer every 6th day, occasionally swapping roles with Montgomery and Chatwood. But he's not one of our best 5 starters, and we aren't exactly running away with the division. If a spot opens up, which is probably likely, given that the #NotAllPitchers thread is 800+ posts long at this point, then he should get the first shot. But having to potentially lose one of our middle relief options to upgrade from Monty/Chatwood to Alzolay and his 6+ FIP for one start seems pretty shortsighted. This is why I mentioned every 6th day. And on any given day, he might be top 5 depending on who is currently on the IL.
  11. Hey man, whatever we have to do to get Alzolay's 6.18 FIP in the rotation. The dude pitched all of 39.2 innings last year and hasn't gone longer than 6 innings in a start at any level since last April, so we should definitely just slot him in every fifth day for the next 3 months. I'd prefer every 6th day, occasionally swapping roles with Montgomery and Chatwood.
  12. Yeah, I know. I said that. They traded away very little and got something decent. The point is this is a team with a severe lack of top defensemen, and as far as I can tell, a glut of mid-tier defensemen. They appear to have masked the weakest parts of the defense, but haven't (and probably won't be able to) significantly improved the top of the defense.
  13. The athletic sure didnt they gave it a "B" for the Blackhawks. FWIW I haven't heard anybody trading a huge steal of a trade with a B grade.
  14. Yeah, I'm not seeing a "huge steal". It seems good, but nothing close to a solution for the defensive problems. He's a serviceable guy who will probably start the season on rehab. They seem to have ~5-6 2nd line defenseman now.
  15. everybody outside of nsbb is calling this a huge steal for the hawks. The athletic sure didnt
  16. Shane Combs is not a guy that you would think would take $50K to sign. Meaning that's a bit steep for a senior?

  18. Eh. it's a something for nothing trade, so sure. He really shouldn't be higher than a third pairing guy on a team that has any playoff aspirations, and right now he's probably on the second pairing (with Jokiharju, behind Keith/Murphy), neither of which inspires a ton of confidence. Seabrook remains the $8m elephant in the room. There were rumors of them trying to trade down to 10th in the draft just to dump his contract. Sounds like this guy is fine, but at $4.5m for three more years at his age, he could be a cap liability in a hurry.
  19. what's up with the background of that graphic? Did the gates of hell open in Wrigley?
