  1. Cubs PR vs Barstool. The barstool guys made clear that they love baseball ops guys and think Ricketts is the coolest owner in all of sports.
  2. every bench player is already effectively a no hit catcher so why not get a real one?
  3. Are you talking about Willson Contreras? The converted infielder who has been the primary catcher the past four years? You are disappointed they handed the keys to him, 4 years ago? Four years they've largely spent in 1st place and been among the best teams in baseball. That disappoints you? I don't really like him as a catcher and our pitching has degraded each year hes been our fulltime catcher. So, yes. He's had the keys. But they have an opportunity to hand those keys to a better defender. So I'll rephrase and say that I'll be disappointed if he retains those keys. I think the pitching has gotten worse mostly because the best pitchers on the team are generally on the older side and many of them have gone through injuries. There's an argument to be made that the results of pitching may be slightly better with somebody else back there, but there is no doubt the offense would take a hit and there is not one ounce of justification for claiming he hasn't shown much interest in improving his game.
  4. He's shown no interest in getting better at catcher because all his interest lies in being the best left fielder he can be.

  9. they will fall below .500
  10. It seems like username notsosober would understand this. I have no problems with someone shotgunning Milwaukees Best, but I guarantee Maddon would look down on someone that does he's from hazelnut pennsytucky and proud of it, I'm sure he's fine with dudes gunning cheap beer
  11. why did that person videotape him walking up the plate? Edit that stuff, man.
  12. It's more of an issue for pitchers who rely on wicked junk to strike guys out, and I like it. Odds are it won't result in a ton of guys stealing first, but it might result in more pitches closer to the zone
  13. No it wouldn't. The biggest spenders aren't going to be able to horde everybody any more than they already can. A team's operating budget will still be a budget. If a Baltimore only wants to spend $60m on the major league roster they will have all the money in the world to sign any prospect they want. Hard capping it solves nothing. Get more money into the hands of younger players earlier in the process.
  14. What? i don't know how you can possibly contest this. the organization has been amazing at acquiring/developing young talent over the last decade plus. it's why they were able to sustain the cup window for so long despite the insane amount of cap casualties they had over that time. it's also why we have stars like debrincat and strome, plus one of the better groups of defensive prospects in the nhl. stan's flaws are are all about overpaying. the development of young talent has never been an issue. if they were great at it relative to how great other teams are and developed actual stars they wouldn’t have sucked the past few years with Kane and Toews still around. He’s great at trading away talent, he’s done that a lot.
  15. team with terrible defense trades defensemen for a non-defenseman
  16. I'd guarantee Maddon hates red assed Hurdle. One enjoys his glass of wine, the other is busy shotgunning Milwaukees Best This is hate speech. I am an avid wine drinker and also an imbiber of mass quantities of cheap beer. #LoveIsLove

  18. I regret not going to this game
  19. And ridiculously high income tax rates doesn’t help Rrrrrrright, because no player wants to play in LA or NY either.
