  1. Nothing I've seen, including going to a nightclub, has been trouble. But I do fear he could eventually do something stupid.
  2. English keeper's ex http://cache-04.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/11/2010/06/minett9_01.jpg
  3. did patrick kane just score for Brazil?
  4. Is someone holding a gun to your head and forcing you to watch? I sympathize with your plight. can you imagine a scenario in which truffle actually enjoys something? i cant. you're just bitter because i don't think oklahoma's great pastime (bull wrestling) is a sport uhhhh have you have heard of noodling, bro I thought that was more of a southeastern hillbilly thing.
  5. MLS tickets aren't $20. I understand it's comparing apples to an awesome sport, but you're underselling MLS. I just checked for the fire and they range from $15 to 50. I don't know if 50 gets you in the door for the blackhawks, or most nhl clubs.
  6. Then what are you going to do with Colvin? They need to see what they got in him. This team isn't going to be competing in the near future with Soriano not going anywhere, it comes down to Byrd and Fukudome and while Byrd would have a higher net return, he's likely a better player at a cheaper cost. Send Colvin to the minors, hope he flashes some brilliant numbers and trade him. He's going to be exposed big time if he becomes a starting RF. As flawed as his game is, at least Fukudome is a tremendous OBP guy, and a top notch defender.
  7. I wish Korea's unis were more drab than this.
  8. Wait, are you the one that was stuck on that asinine notion that MLS game attendance figures and NHL game attendance figures are reasonable comparisons? Also, that country across the pond was probably the absolute best matchup the US could have had in terms of bringing in interest in the states. That was me, and 4 years ago or whatever it was not a great argument. This season, though, the attendance figures are about equal, with MLS at 16,320 and the NHL around 16,900 Source: http://www.mls-daily.com/2010/04/mls-attendance-moves-past-nba-nhl.html Not that it means MLS is more popular, but the attendance figures are more even now than they were. That was dumb then and it's dumb now. 80 game seasons versus what, 30? $150 tickets versus $20 tickets. 30 team league vs 16. Seriously, comparing average attendance figures is completely stupid.
  9. Wait, are you the one that was stuck on that asinine notion that MLS game attendance figures and NHL game attendance figures are reasonable comparisons? Also, that country across the pond was probably the absolute best matchup the US could have had in terms of bringing in interest in the states. Of course not. Like I said, NHL is the best hockey league in the world and MLS doesn't sniff the Top 5. And Mexico is the absolute best matchup in terms of bringing in TV viewers, which was the original comparison. Mexican viewers. Passionate soccer fans see the draw of USA/Mexico, but England provides a huge boost to casual fan interest.

  11. Every once in a while you write something worth reading, and I don't want to miss those.
  12. I thought they only zoned things like March Madness covers, and season previews. They have plenty of singular covers. I'm not at all surprised that the Blackhawks aren't the primary cover. They won it last Wednesday night. I get my SI (why I still do I don't know) on Wednesday and figured a week later it would be old news.
  13. Do you even have to examine all that closely? I'm thinking maybe 3rd or 4th ballot. Possible 2nd.
  14. Ramirez has been the most reliable Cub for 7 years.
  15. But they weren't swaggering. When the Bears lost 23-0 in the conference finals the year before going all the way, they were swaggering. This is just about a guy whose meal ticket remains being one of the guys from the most famous Chicago sports championship. If too many people like the Blackhawks, he won't be able to pull down $5000 for autograph sessions.
  16. Usually athletes and "Gold Clubs" don't work out so well. I think usually it works out great for all parties involved. It's just the times you hear about it that something went wrong.
  17. Toews does not translate well to art.
  18. 3-4 years? Dick Dent, do you realize your team completely crapped the bed on what should have been a dynasty?
  19. Is that what it is. I thought he had cooled considerably, but didn't trust that I was paying enough attention.
  20. I don't get what you are talking about. Neyer is the preeminent "good stats" guy in the media. And that article was about a grossly overpaid player who is going to be old and bad. That's not what have you done for me lately. That's just thinking realistically. Sure, but the timing and tone of it was clearly influenced by how Soriano looked at the time it was written with the implication that nobody should be surprised if he was released sooner rather than later. Well, he's still a columnist and you have to get page views. But I didn't get any sense of a tone about it happening sooner rather than later.
  21. Yes you are. Why else would you keep bringing up Fox and ESPN? I've said nothing about markets nor prestige in my posts. You may want to go back and re-read them. I've said how the Big 12 signing a deal with Fox takes money away from ESPN. You show me where I've mentioned markets or prestige. The very nature of the topic encompasses markets, without a doubt. And prestige as well, since that's what drives a lot of eyeballs.
  22. Why do you insist on being a dick? I was just providing evidence that I was not the only one who thought this way. Neyer is pretty respected baseball writer not some smuck on a message board who insists on acting 12 whenever he can. You mean "schmuck." And why do you insist on trumping up such an inane, ridiculous argument with outdated editorials from the likes of Neyer? These are mysteries the world will never solve. The likes of Neyer over anonymous people on the internet? I think I'll take Neyer. I'm not trumping anything. I was just providing a piece of information for schmucks like you, who insist on acting like a teenager for chuckles from your buds. Obviously if the Cubs DFA Soriano it will because he doesn't have value. When will they do this if ever? We'll have to wait and see. Even still, there's a huge difference between maybe eventually releasing him in the future, to teams willing to take him with the Cubs paying the chunk of the deal. You were just dead wrong on that assessment. It makes no sense.

  24. This is tough. Campbell showed his worth in the playoffs. And I think a #3 (though he's arguably the 4th best d-man on the team behind Hammer) defenseman is harder to come by than a 3rd or 4th line winger. So I would lean toward keeping him. I also don't think the situation is quite as dire as Kyle suggests, especially if Huet is banished to Rockford. No question that Campbell was excellent in the playoffs. But if we have to part with all of those guys that Kyle suggested, I'd be willing to take the hit and get rid of Campbell's contract over getting rid of all of those other players. But it's not all of them vs. Campbell. Madden is gone no matter what. So is Sopel. He mentioned Buff, Sharp, Versteeg, Niemi and Hammer. It's probably any two of these guys vs. Campbell. I don't buy that they all have to go. Getting rid of Campbell's deal would allow them to keep some guys we are assuming are gone. The problem is they probably can't get rid of him, but if they do they'd have to take back a bad deal, so there's no point.
