  1. I think it's normal and fine, but the thing I always thought was that scouting was inherently a collaborative effort. A GM can make a much bigger singular impact in other areas by fiat basically. In scouting you kind of just hope they're a final careful stamp on the process as well as oversering the vision of what the scouting process should be. I think it’s a thing that makes sense in his first year, but will quickly go away once he gains greater trust in his staff. I laughed at the “who are your guys?” response from the area scout: “the d line is good” I know they don’t want to divulge names on a team video, but it sounded like a scout that actually slept through the assignment and quickly fast forwarded through game film.
  2. Anyone trash talks the Bears on Twitter from now on and they're right (because the Bears suck), I'm just going to say, "Well my GM can beat up your GM!" Because that's probably right too. Them some big boys. Yea I thought he plane looked small till I remembered it's too former OLineman (though Poles still looks the part) It was a very small jet though. Definitely not Halas Force 1
  3. The trailer is pointless but the full video is a good behind the scenes looking at the top front office guys on the bears looking for the next batch of guys to turnover the roster.
  4. Didn’t take 5 years
  5. You said maybe it doesn’t need to be upgraded. It very clearly needs to be upgraded. no I didnt
  6. Totally got away with illegal procedure on that first play
  7. Thank Christ you’re not our GM. This is one of the dumbest takes I’ve seen on here in a while. The biggest piece to any nfl team puzzle is the qb. that appears to be solved with Fields. Whats dumb about that? they have the rest of the season to evaluate who they have around him and its not the "dumbest take" to suggest that they may end the season higher on those guys then they were even 2 weeks ago. clearly there are holes, I'm not saying ignore the offense in the off season You said maybe it doesn’t need to be upgraded. It very clearly needs to be upgraded.
  8. Also need GB to win a few games. I hate to say it but the December game against them will definitely be a must lose game for the Bears. The Packers look like absolute trash, their schedule is tough too Screw that, I’d love to see them rattle off some wins. I want Fields to own Detroit and put the fear of god into the Packers. Hell, they could steal a win in the meadowlands, and I’d be fine. Losing shootouts is fine, but I’m not cheering for it to happen.
  9. If fields and tua switched teams the dolphins would have won by 20+
  10. In order to coach you have to take a lot of courses and one of my first a goalie coach had us all stand and simulate what a goalie goes through in a shift. It wasn’t that hard for the 24 year olds, but the room was mostly 40-something’s and even some 50+ male and female. The moaning and groaning was prominent.
  11. If you improve the line and add receiver help then you aren’t so reliant on your RB blocking every play.
  12. I 100% agree with this and am kind of amazed that even while they mention it being a factor, it's being almost completely discounted in grading the trade by the pundits. The lack of options in FA plus stealing a resource from the Packers makes the grade from me significantly higher than the deal would be in a vacuum. To play devils advocate, if they kept that pick and used it on an overdraft WR instead of best player available, they’d get criticized for it. They didn’t have to put themselves in a position where an overpay for a wr via trade was a viable option, they could have done something to help Fields 6 months ago. They didn’t. They put themselves in a position where they were desperate enough to overpay, and by all accounts, they overpaid. Frankly I’m glad they did it for multiple reasons, but it deserves to be viewed honestly.
  13. I now wish the Smith/Claypool trades happened a week ago so Chase could be up to speed for this one. The Dolphins pass D is atrocious. 275 yards per game with a 100 QB rating against. Just allowed 300 yards to Goff. Allowed 300 to Lamar running the same offense Fields has in the last 2. The Dolphins haven't rushed the passer very well either. Chubb will help with that, but not sure how much this week. Assuming he doesn't get 50-60 reps, the Bears may be able to protect Fields much better than they have the last few weeks. They've faced some of the best pass rushes in the last 3-4 games. If ever there was a game where Justin throws 35 times..... Was just glancing at some of their box scores how the hell they did beat the Bills? The Bills had 400+ yards of offense, had 40+ minutes TOP, must have been TO's. According to the box score buffalo had one turnover, miami 0. That was turn butt punt game that gave Buffalo a safety.
  14. The upside of not having blockers or other receivers is if Fields values his life he pretty much has to trust him.
  15. Think that’s a Wednesday thing
  16. I bet the Packers were also offering a 2nd which is why the Bears had to offer their 2nd rounder to get it done. god I hope the packers end up picking one pick before this bears/Steelers pick
  17. Let the games have the game threads. The bears pay the bear tax. The churn is on. Out with the old and in with other peoples old. The claypool trade is the type of thing I’ve wanted them to do. Hope he sticks.
  18. This team isn’t desperate for base competence. They’ve already won 3 games with middling talent, and lost 2 they probably should have won. They can compete. What they need is high end talent.
  19. Spending your first draft trading down for more picks, trading away three high profile defensive players while not giving your qb anything to work with, and then coming into the next draft with just one first round pick is a disappointment. They are desperate for high end talent. They have to use their extra late round picks to move up. Three top 50 guys would really help. They don’t need six round 6/7 picks again. I’d like them to package the Ravens and Eagles picks to move up.
  20. The work is actually acquiring talent. He hasn’t done that yet.
  21. Gonna be a completely stacked secondary here eventually, with no other skill position players
  22. A late 2nd and a late 5th, what a snooze
