Well technically they can, but they're unlikely to. No, per NFL rules they have to allow him to interview for the HC position.

Just like last week there's multiple teams I want to see lose so I'll cheer against them.

They are interviewing him, not clear at all they are going after him. He could just be trying to do their old employer a favor by keeping the Bears situation murky. I would have no problem with Tice moving on. It's not like he made that line dominant or anything. He was never going to be anything close to a longterm solution at the spot anyway.

This surprised me. With as often as his name has come up for other jobs and consistently good the Bears ST have been, I would have thought he'd already be the highest paid.

Similar, or less than half? Yes, less than 1/2 of Kolb's 6 starts (1 of which he left in the 1st quarter). Don't get the point of arguing semantics though. Kolb had 7 starts, but he played a lot more than that because he kept coming into games early (not taking knees) with the starter going out with injuries. He threw well over 300 passes against several opponents. More than half of Flynn's attempts came from 2 games against Detroit. There's a pretty significant difference between the experience level of each QB going into the offseason when they were eventually traded/likely traded.

Yeah, there's a huge difference between what Cassel was able to do for the Patriots and what Flynn did in one game. It would be incredibly risky to make that acquisition, and I would hate for my team to do it. But it only takes one, and NFL teams without settled QB situations do stupid stuff. Then again, Wannstedt isn't out there coaching anybody either.

Russ Salzberg, who is a stereotypically obnoxious Bronx sports anchor, reported on the Yankees signing Phil Hughes and he kept saying, "it's a non-guaranteed contract", I don't have any idea what he was talking about. -
Isn't that exactly what happened with Matt Cassel? He was franchised, signed to a one year, deal, traded, and extended all in one offseason.

So the Bears won't allow Hoke to interview with the Vikings for their defensive coordinator job. I don't like this. It was one thing to not let Tice go to TEN, when his expertise was supposedly the key to developing the line and he was clearly in-line to take over Martz's gig. But you aren't going to be viewed as a great place to develop coaches if you keep preventing your position coaches from potential promotions. And it's the Vikings, they are a mess. I highly doubt having him go there will come back to haunt the Bears.

I have two problems with him, I associate his father with some crappy offenses and he's been involved in a Chargers team that keeps getting less and less talented the longer he's been there. The Chargers have been in the worst division in football over the past half decade or so and they've let some very mediocre opponents get to the playoffs ahead of them, and 6 or 7 years ago they were one of the most talented teams out there.

A did you know: Clark's boss is Bill Murray's brother. If you combined those two without knowing, that's some impressive stuff. I'm pretty sure I've heard that, but was not thinking of it when making that comparison. So Bosio is the missing Murray brother then, that rolls off the tongue easier. Brian Doyle Murray he was in vacation as well, at the campground. "we like to send out a mailer"

4 guaranteed years without a no-trade clause at big money could make a lot of sense. They like Rizzo for his longterm potential as a cheap productive 1B, but he's not thought to be elite. If you had Fielder here Rizzo could spend all of 2012 in AAA without winding his clock and developing "the Cubs way", and it could be Fielder who is dealt in 2013/2014 when Rizzo is actually at the age they want him starting his career. Fielder gets his big money and maybe gets to keep 8-10 bad ballpark locations on a no-trade.
