  1. Castro hit his pretty hard, and somebody else did as well. Though most of them just dropped in.
  2. LaHair decided to swing at that pitch before the windup started.
  3. soriano wants to be loved so badly (though I think he might have actually been out) The Cubs are pooping all over the Brewers' shifting.
  4. Not sure if that shows dedication or if it's just a continuation of his naturally born ability to not be able to bunt or hit.
  5. Braun just herping and derping (mostly herping)
  6. sweet, free preview still up for extra innings.
  7. https://twitter.com/#!/BruceMiles2112/status/190505263357374464 #Cubs Clevenger is 3-for-3 as PH since last yr. Last player to begin his Cubs career 3-for-3 as a PH was...drum roll...Neifi Perez #saved
  8. In Keith's case that sort of fact led to a bigger suspension. It was considered evidence that he was purposefully retaliating.
  9. Silly silly NHL never seems to miss an opportunity to be silly. Nothing like setting the precedent on day 1 of the playoffs that all hits are fair game.
  10. http://deadspin.com/5901394/over-two+month-period-bobby-petrino-exchanged-200-messages-with-former-miss-motorcycle-mania-bikini-model This story has got legs and a fairly substantial amount of cleavage.
  11. And they've won 100 5 times, so, well, that's nice. So we're more than twice as likely to win 100 than we are to lose 100. That adds up to me.
  12. They would have to really tank hard to have to wait that long to make it work. There's no reason this team can't be good with a year or two if they ever start trying. If guys are just shredding AAA and the major leaguers are horrible, then there would be reasons to consider calling up guys earlier. A) You have to expect a learning curve in the majors, so the earlier that starts the earlier they can get past it. B) Development can stall if guys are hanging around a level they are dominating for months. C) If it becomes painfully obvious that the only reason they are keeping players down is for vesting purposes, it can cause some friction with both those players and potentially others in the organization. You can erode trust for future prospects about how they will be treated. That being said, they'd really have to be destroying everything with a painfully obvious hole on the big club to make me consider giving up those vesting advantages.
  13. Who are they? That's for me to know and you to find out.
  14. When excellence is the norm it's not impressive. Also, excellent is a pretty big stretch to describe Volstad's start. Dempster, Shark, Dempster Sorry, I misread that part. My point is that excellent pitching probably needs a little different definition than has been used in recent years. As expectations for offense have gone down I don't think people have adjusted their expectations for pitchers.

  16. Denver coming up soon with 2 guys I'm undecided on.
  17. Our roster full of white guys needed an old white guy to teach them how to act like white guys. You could just have Kaplan write a chapter in the Cubs Way for a more cost effective version.
  18. https://twitter.com/#!/BruceMiles2112/status/190462856561573889 Watch for @thekapman interviewing his guy Soriano today on Comcast. #ridiculous
  19. When we know how terrible they likely are going to be coming in I'm not sure why we can't point it out. It's not like this was a team expected to put up good numbers that has surprisingly underperformed. Do you expect BacktoHendry to talk about the team statline after 7 games if they put up 8 runs today? I expect people who don't typically post nonsense not to post nonsense. The Cubs haven't "looked good" outside of the bullpen, considering their rotation has been nothing but average and the offense has been well below average.
