  1. Did the White Sox start off with "We're the other team from Chicago"? Maybe the WS started off with "We're the Chicago team with money to spend."
  2. That's my point, the Marlins ought to ask for the moon because everybody is after Realmuto. That's not the point of Cubswin11's post at all. The rest of my post pointed out that Albies is pretty valuable even though he slumped during the 2nd half. Again a 21 yr. old playing regularly on a division winning team with 5 years of control left is a really valuable asset. Cubswin11 thinks that Albies is going to digress and they ought to sell high on him and I'm not agreeing or disagreeing. I'm just pointing out that they might be giving up a star (plus other prospects) for another star.
  3. That's my point, the Marlins ought to ask for the moon because everybody is after Realmuto. I agree that the Braves should think about such a deal because it's easier to get an adequate 2B than a top C. Of course it all depends on the other prospects included in the deal. That being said, Albies' numbers are pretty impressive for a 21 year old switch-hitting 2B with 5 years of control left.
  4. It's amazing that Charles the Cat is the only reporter that has any rumors at all about the Cubs so far and they almost all seem to be what we want to hear. I dunno, I'm worried they're gonna blow all their money on Harper and take themselves out on Arenado. It might take them out of a backup C, backup SS, and 2-3 relief pitchers too.
  5. Why wouldn't they ask for Albies and prospects when they have every team desiring Realmuto? Aim high because they don't need to trade him.
  6. Just like Trump writes his own apologies after he says/does something stupid. Trump doesn't apologize for anything I meant to say retractions instead of apologies.

  8. As long as we're collecting mediocre, versatile middle infielders Wilmer Flores is available.
  9. What about...... Contreras, Q and Kintzler for Kluber or Bauer (plus a prospect back) then Happ, Adbert and make them take Duensing and maybe other prospect stuff for Realmuto and Conley. Then sign Bryce?? I'm sure the Marlins have about 20 better offers for Realmuto than this one.
  10. Bottom line is that Russell has some value as a baseball player and Theo can include him as a throw-in in some deal to a team that is willing to take a chance on him.
  11. I'm not sure you want to wait until 2020. Remember Theo said "every season is sacred" (except for the 3 years we tanked - LOL). I think the reason they might be looking at the 2nd tier of FAs is because they're going to have to deal from their roster (i.e. Schwarber, Happ, Almora, etc.) to fill other holes. We still aren't sure of what to expect from Bryant, Darvish, and Morrow for next year and in 2020 Zobrist is gone and Lester and Morrow qualify for Social Security.
  12. I'm sure the Phillies will be glad to take on our bad contracts to assist us in signing Harper.
  13. $8 million? Well played, sir, and a hard pass! I thought he’d get closer to $10 than not so was never expexting him back. Now’s the time to mix the future with the present and gamble a little. I assume Harper in that last sentence. Find the next Chavez, honestly should not be so hard. Yeah there’s going to be around a half dozen guys not signed come February we can have for nothing that conceivably could be as good or better than Chavez and we aren’t committed more than 1 year and maybe a few million if incentives are hit. I'm not sure there will be a half dozen guys laying around in February that we can get for next to nothing that we can count on putting up 1.15 ERA, 42K/5BB, ERA+ of 374, and WHIP of .795.
  14. I think we can do better than swapping Chatwood for a $23 million ml player. As much as we want to dump Chatwood and his contract, he has some (but not much) value as a ML starting pitcher.
  15. I'm not sure what OF we have that would even begin the talks. A great pitcher plus another good pitcher (both young and under control for multiple years) for a decent pitcher, a not-so-great SS with a ton of baggage, and the unknown OF wouldn't be in the top 5 offers for the Mets.
  16. So you're saying we can not afford Harper or pizza? LOL
  17. I'd rather go after Dietrich.
  18. Tribune mentioned Farrell who has ties to Theo and sons that worked/pitched for Cubs. Also, if a Maddon extension doesn't get done you have an in-house candidate.

  20. Schwarber is what he is, a perfect DH/platoon LF. He does have value because of his power, work ethic, youth, and contract. I still like the deal I mentioned a few weeks back of Schwarber for two of Allard/Fried/Soroka. Lol Jesus Christ We might have to throw in Russell if we want Christ too.

  22. I clicked on "Page 43" of the thread hoping for an update... and I get this. What fresh hell did I stumble into? ETA: Is it safe to go back a page and find out? Or should I just let it go? For updates on Harper, go to the Philadephia Inquirer sports page.
  23. I have only had Malnati's thin crust, it was ok. The mom and pop places are the place to go. And it must only be cut in squares. The best by far is Aurelio's in Homewood. Some of the other Aurelios are good, but the original one in Homewood is the best thin crust.
  24. What about Gibson in 1968?
