  1. So when and where do you guys figure we'll see him playing? Daytona?
  2. I just don't see much potential in the position players at the top of this draft. Id rather have Appel or Gray over Moran or Bryant.
  3. I'm surprised by your theory about power pitchers not busting. I guess that's been my poor perception. Seems the popular opinion that college bats are more likely to make it to the majors than college pitching. Id still rather have Gray or Appel over a weak hitting power college bat that will likely end up on a corner in the outfield.
  4. I'm surprised so many people want Bryant over Gray. I think power is one of the hardest things to project for a prospect. A fastball is a fastball it doesn't change as the competition changes. Seems like way more power hitting prospects turn out bust than power pitchers but maybe I'm wrong. I don't think Bryant has enough of a hit tool to make it to the majors and he won't likely stick at 3rd. I'd be disappointed if we wind up drafting him. My preference would be Gray, Appel, Bryant.
  5. He would have almost had to take it within six to 12 hours of the test. That's dumb and dumber stupid if he knew he was going to be tested. Maybe some angry ex-girlfriend spiked his drink with it.
  6. Is it against the ncaa drug policy?
  7. The article seems to say they dont think it will effect his draft status. I'm not sure though. Parks also tweeted : Jason Parks ‏@ProfessorParks 1m I use it to tweet with more velocity and wit. RT @Ryan_Probasco: @ProfessorParks College students use it all the time as well. lol
  8. Kieth Law just tweeted: Oklahoma RHP Jonathan Gray tested positive for a banned stimulant in MLB predraft testing: http://klaw.me/18NVvhO
  9. When does the afl season start? Was bummed to see Soler not going, seems to me he could have benefited greatly from the PAs. Oh well.
  10. Each MLB team is only allowed one player below AA so that can't be right. If the Cubs moved Soler or Javy to Tennesse for the last week, is that allowed or are they required to be there for a certain length? I think Cali mentioned the cutoff some time ago, we are well past it.
  11. Because he was demanding a [expletive] load of money and the team that took him would have had to commit a large amount of their draft budget to him and they would have had to draft a lot of slot or under slot guys the rest of the draft. I realize he wasn't worth taking later I mean if he was worth the money someone would have taken him where he would have fit into their budget. He just doesnt seem like a tor type to me.
  12. I don't get the appeal of Appel. if he was so good why didn't someone take him earlier this year. Is next years draft really going to be that shallow at the top?
  13. Damn, playing once every 5 days will do that to a guy. Especially when a lot of the teams in the FSL aren't having games delayed/postponed everyday and are on a much better routine. He had plenty of days like that before the rain started. While I'm sure sitting for days didn't help much it's certainly not the main cause.
  14. Are they going to be replacing all those guys or are they just cutting the size of the scouting pool down. Seems like they'd be replacing them but I don't really have a deep understanding of the way front offices usually operate. Did we have more than what's normal or were they just really unhappy with the performance of these guys... I guess no one will know the whys.
  15. So we might pass the Rockies for the 2nd worse record in baseball tonight? Did I calculate that correctly?
  16. Middlebrooks had an OPS+ of 117 before he got hurt. Jed Lowrie sits at 116, Pedroia - 101, Rizzo - 120, Reddick - 123. Granted Lavarnway hasn't played much in the big leagues this year, and Ellsbury and Kalish have been hurt most of the season. But that lineup doesn't suck. A team constructed solely of homegrown players would indeed suck, and the process of having that team built would be awful for Cubs fans. He made it clear they joked about it and it is impossible. I think it would be extremely difficult to pull something like that off. Your scouting and player developement would have to be off the charts elite better than everyone else caliber and even then would have to have a lot of just plain luck for the pieces to all fall in place. never mind that it would take a very very long time to do it. I think the plan is to build a core of homegrown young talent they've stated that in the past. Then you augment that with trades and free agents till you get the right mix.
  17. In arbiteation, I agree. But I seriously doubt either side even wants to talk extension right now. We'd want a huge discount and I'd certainly think he'd rather hit the market after a solid season, than agree on a much lesser deal right now. At least he's a guy we can be pretty sure to get a pick for if we offer a qualifier after a strong season. That's if we don't trade him at the deadline. I wish they would have traded him during this past offseason his value will likely never be higher than it was then.
  18. Wasn't it reported that he was experimenting with a curveball for that entire month or so? Which was what I was getting at and what makes the lack of mention of that other pitch glaring. I swear I've seen him throw curves recently (in the game against Atlanta, I didnt see the game last night). Unless the split has 12 to 6 massive loopy droping movement. if that's his split I've never seen one that moved that much.
  19. Can you show us non-twitter using normal people an example? He just likes to retweet every positive thing that people tweet to him about his performance. It's just kinda egotistical and an annoying habit followers of athletes kind of frown upon. Not the worst thing in the world just kind of annoying.
