  1. Easier said than done. Everyone knows pitching wins . Having the payroll to get the pitching you need is another story. Since the Brewers don't have a ton of money to dump into there staff they choose a move that vastly upgrades there defense and adds a nice bat as well with only a 1 year deal.
  2. Cedeno has more upside. Which says a lot in its self. If we hadn't moved Patterson to the outfield he would be better also.
  3. I think that was my favorite part of the article. Come on Zell and Bud get this sale done soon to Cuban. Between Cuban and Roberts I am so tired of waiting.
  4. I still think Gonzo from the Reds fits nicely in this lineup if his defense is still as solid as it once was, or I would take a gamble on Lopez.
  5. I had some faith in the Orioles insiders at first but everytime they mention, Pie,Hill or Marmol all I can do is laugh are reliable sources have said all offseason there's no way any of those guys are being dealt for Brian Roberts.
  6. nice move by the Brewers improves there defense a ton and gives them some options on the bench now that he and Braun will be patrolling the outfield.
  7. who knows maybe he's healthy again , Last offseason everyone was saying that Troy Percvial was done and went on to put up some pretty good numbers on the cheap. Maybe Hendry strikes gold, or maybe not nothing lost.
  8. If Hendry is able to get Roberts for Marshall, Gallegher,Cedeno , he might go for it and deal Pie as part of a package to get an upgrade at short or a top of the rotation starter. Cameron isn't a terrible option. He is still a great defender with a strong arm and he provides some speed/power but nothing in terms of average/OBP. Roberts Soranio Lee Ramirez Fukodome Cameron Soto Theriot If Hendry where able to swing a deal for Khali Greene and prospects that lineup suddenly looks like a World Series contender not just a lineup trying to win the NL central. I'm assuming Hendry snags someone for the starting along the lines of Burnett, Colon, Lieber.
  9. Ah. Depending on how much he'd take, I'd go for that. I prefer him in the rotation over Dempster. I'd be interested in Lieber as a non-roster player, and perhaps if we trade away a couple of our other staff candidates. But barring a trade, I'm not sure I'd be interested in giving him a guaranteed contract that locked him onto the staff regardless of performance. Barring a trade, we've got 10 roster locks at present: Dempster and Marquis (unknown roles), Z, Hill, Lilly, (3 certain starters), Wood, Howry, Marmol, Wuertz, Eyre (5 certain relievers.) Ten roster locks leaves two open pitching spots. Current 8 candidates: Marshall, Hart, Gallagher (rotation candidates), Cotts, Pignatiello (lefty relief options), Lahey, Ascanio, and Petrick (righty relief options). (Am I missing somebody else?) Unless the staff gets thinned via trade, I'd be hesitant to sign Lieber and reduce the number of open spots to only one. I think there's a good chance that at least two of those 8 candidates will be more preferable on the staff than Lieber. Also, Lieber has made only two relief appearances since the Cubs acquired him in 1998. Not sure how interested he'd be or how well suited he'd be for a relief role, in the event that two out of Marshall/Gallagher/Hart/Marquis/Dempster outpitch him for a rotation spot. I have the same kind of concern with any of these lightning in a bottle suggestions (Colon, etc..) I don't want to guarantee any of them a spot on the roster, in case they aren't any good and some of our own guys step up nicely. Marshall and Gallegher are probably both gonna be dealt before the season. Dempster has vaule to teams as a closer or back end of the rotation starter. Also there has been plenty of whispers about Hendry trying to find a taker for Marquis.
  10. If he could play any of the outfield corners he would have been a nice pickup for the Cubs with his right handed power off the bench and his ability to catch will be nice once Blanco breaks down.
  11. I am attending the cubs convention and I am looking for somewhere to buy larger than 8-10 high quality photos to get signed. I am looking for Ron santo black cat unsigned photo, heel click photo, A really nice shot of Zambrano ect. These have the MLB hologram attached to them.
  12. I want this done beofore the convention thats all I ask. If Hendry can go out and also get Burnett/Colon and some more help for the bench that would help me feel a lot better about this team.
  13. The Cubs better hope Lee returns to putting up big power numbers there's no reason Lee hits sixth in this Cubs lineup. Otherwise are only true power threats would be Ramirez and Soranio. Roberts and Fukodome would go along way towards helping the Cubs score some runs but there gonna need Lee's power also.
  14. hendry better get a deal soon and then a few more before the Cubs Convention!
  15. Now if the Tribe goes out and gets Roberts/ Bedard does Kenny Williams then start unloading everyone ? The AL central could start to give the AL east a run for it's money talent wise.
  16. Monroe?
  17. We need to send out the bat signal and see what Bruce has heard about the Robert talks and if the cubs have any interest in Burnett.
  18. No to Jay Payton. Yes to Kevin Millar. He can handle the corner outfield spots and first base. He bring the Cubs some needed Power from the right side of the plate off the bench , who can get on base at a decent clip.
