1. But you don't care or pay much attention..... I didn't even think about him till I saw this thread. It took 30 seconds to look up his average. I am not rooting for him or against him. I just thought I would update his stats since nobody had. ^^shrugs^^ you sound like you really lack a sack All the bad asses around here are hilarious.
2. Maybe I should have colored my comments green.
3. This is the one that I'm sporting most often these days...
4. 1. He drove without a motorcycle helmet which is against the law (not that big of a deal to me though). 2. He drove without a motorcycle license (bigger deal than #1) 3. After the accident he said he wouldn't wear a helmet still which was a very stupid thing to say and he retracted it a week later after the NFL and Steelers talked to him. Although all relatively minor all of those are misconduct by the NFL rules. As for the Holmes comment and the Steelers I somehow had missed that he had a positive drug test. That changes things. However, Roethlisberger should still without question get a 1-4 game suspension (I would go 2). so you're saying even if he did absolutely nothing wrong (with respect to this thing in the night club) and this was all actually a misunderstanding or false allegations (I don't really know what happened), he should still get suspended 2 games and it's racist if he doesn't get some sort of suspension? Yeah, that's like saying... We know OJ did it even though he was found not guilty, so we are going to have him serve 2 years for hits and giggles.
5. In my two (brief) interctions with him, he was more than a capable, functioning adult. Not a big deal, just a sign of ignorance. I was pointing out an error, so he could learn and improve. He tried to defend it, I responded. Edit: Mineaswell move on, their are bigger issues Pot, meet Kettle. :-)) not that garwilly needs defending, but the first one is a typo missing 1 letter. much different than not knowing what literally means and defending your incorrect usage. the second was sarcasm. if you haven't seen "mineaswell" in a Cubbiebum post yet, you haven't been paying much attention. It doesn't matter. If you are going to run around being the grammar police, then make sure you own posts are correct, even typos. There's no need to run around correcting every one around here. Like the other guy said, everyone knew what he meant when he typed literally. What's the deal with "mineaswell"? I just figured it was one of those things like southerners saying "welp" instead of welt. Or "flicked off" instead of "flipped off".
6. I don't think he's talking about racism, I'm 100% sure he must be talking about age discrimination. Obviously he doesn't want to hurt his buddies feelings by calling them old, so he won't say it, you know.

8. It's confirmed, we Razorback fans aren't happy.
9. I've been to GABP thrice and really don't enjoy the park too much. Luckily all three games where Cubs games so that made the experience much better, but overall, I don't care much for the park. I don't have much to compare it to, as I've only been to Mile High Stadium (one of my all time favorite stadium names) for my only other MLB game. In all truthfullness, I enjoyed the game at Mile High much more. I'm sure that being my first MLB game played a part, but Denver just has a GREAT atmosphere and there's a ton of Cubs fans there.
10. Sure, we'd all like to see a lineup stuffed with .400 OBP hitters. But there were only seven hitters in the NL who managed a .400 OBP last year. Only 19 topped .380. I think your standards are a bit unrealistic. Yeah, that's why I changed my wording right before you posted this.
11. Last 3 Years, (2009, 2008, 2007) OBP: Lee: .393, .361, .400 ARam: .389, .380, .366 Fuku: .375, .359 ~ Theriot: .343, .387, .326 Byrd: .329, .380, .355 Fontenot: .301, .395, .336 Baker: .343, .322, .296 (06 was his first "full" year) Nady: .357, .330, .337 (08, 07, 06 due to 7 games played in 09) Soto: .321, .364, .433 (60 PA in 07) That's more then three that either can get on base, have been able to in the past, or have improved significantly the past three years. Those top two are the only two that we can trust to get on base on a regular basis. Anything under .350 is unimpressive. Theriot MIGHT get back to what he was in 2008, we'll see. I suppose you can trust Fuku to get on base for the most part. It's not like we tore it up last year. We were 18th in the majors with a .332 OBP.
12. The team in general is playing longball thus far. 70% of our runs have come via homers. It would be nice to see an inning or two of sustained offensive output. Damn rally killing home runs. Home runs can be all or nothing. If you rely solely on the home run for your offensive output, you can have long stretches of offensive futility. I would like to see an ability to string a bunch of hits together and score runs that way, although I'll never say no to the longball. Stringing together lots of hits isn't an ability. The team has plenty of people that hit for average and get on base. Since that's the case, they'll get their share of non-hr runs as the year goes along. Plenty? I can count on my dicked up hand (missing two fingers) how many guys get on base on this team.
13. That's what I thought they would do also but they're concerned with logistics. The selection show will still be Sunday night so that would leave 40 hours between the announcement of your opponent/location and your game for those playing on Tuesday. I don't know that I can recall a situation like this where everyone in the media and fans almost universally thought it was a terrible idea but basically conceded that it's inevitable. If you can't leave it, just go to 68 and have 4 play-in games for the 12 seeds. I agree with this, even though deciding to give them the 12-seed is kinda arbitrary, and is not really fair to the 5-seeds. But I do like the idea that the last 8 at-large bids play for the last 4 spots. Make the teams that didn't earn their spot into the tourney play for the right to be in it. I'm guessing he meant to say 16 seeds. It makes no sense to have play-in games for anything other than the lowest seeds. No I meant to say 12 seeds. If you're talking about the last 4 at-large seeds, that's about where they should be. Exactly, you aren't going to have the 1 seed play Florida in the first round.
14. I remember this guy being a high quality pitcher at Creighton and figured he'd make it to the pro level if he was even remotely good. He could be a VERY good asset to your pen.
15. The football section has been like that for some time. That's what we use for numbers/ages in our Tecmo Super Bowl leagues.
16. Makes no difference to me as I'm in the Air Force, and I've been dealing with government health care for the past 10 years.
17. Very much looking forward to the Hogs/LSU match up this weekend. By the numbers: http://www.hogville.net/yabbse/index.php?topic=337479.0 Hogs take game 1 6-3. If they can split the final two, they should move up in the rankings. http://www.lsusports.net/newLiveStats/Baseball/index.dbml?GAME_STAT_ID=452063&db_oem_id=5200

19. I've got a feeling that we aren't going to be very good this year, so hopefully Lee and Ramirez play VERY well and we can trade them for some useful parts. Either way, I don't think either will be back with the Cubs in 2011. Our window is closed, no WS for a few more years at least.
20. Seriously... I remember that game. How the heck did Dusty kept Prior in the game after that collision??? ugh... Prior's 2003 gamelogs is just sickening... Only 4 games under 100 pitches and 7 more under 110 so 19 starts were 110+ and 5 of those 125+ (4 of them in the last month of the season)... I know people complain about pitch counts and pitchers need to pitch more/go deeper into the game (I'm one of those guys)... But in Prior's case... they needed to limit his pitches for like 2 years and let him get used to 100 pitches and keep him fresh then after that, let him go and pitch 110+ a game. I'm all about a heavy workload, but don't do that when they're in their first couple years... esp. when you had a bonafide stud like Prior. Just like Dwight Gooden as well. But again... with Prior's inverted W arm motion, people pretty much knew that he was going to get injured eventually and that it was a matter of time. Of course all of his injuries didn't help and actually made his mechanics worse, but I really wouldn't be surprised that if Prior stayed healthy and injury free with the Cubs that he probably had a TJS (or two) by now or even his career was over. A good example of what Prior's workload/pitch count should've been... Look at Lincecum's 2009 gamelogs and see his pitch count per game... That's AFTER a little over a season and half under his belt. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.cgi?n1=linceti01&t=p&year=2009 Difference between Prior and Tim was that Prior was in a pennant race. Tim wasn't.
21. I would be VERY happy with Hudson, not sure why he has a hard time finding a job unless he demands a ton.
22. Here's what I see as a regular fan, Granderson does strike out a lot, and of course I don't know what his K rate is with runners on base (that's a stat I'd like to see), but everytime he K's instead of putting the ball in play somehow, that was a chance wasted to move the runner over/drive in a run.
23. So I understand this right, Reynolds wouldn't be a better player if he didn't K ALL THE TIME?
24. So if we acquire him without somehow getting rid of Soriano (which we won't) we'll basically have a mirror playing center/left. Granderson might be a good fielder, but he K's ALL the time, and doesn't get on base very well. Awesome.
25. Any chance that the links that someone posts in their message could "pop up" in another window/tab instead of opening on this page?
