  1. FWIW the post was more about frustration with the organization (Hendry) than it was a blast on Fox. Yes I realize it's a minor league deal and not worth getting upset over on the surface -- it's just tiresome to see Hendry play the same losing strategy over and over. What does Chad Fox have to do with Hendrys loseing strategy over and over? Marmol,Wood,Wuertz,Eyre,Howry, are set in the bullpen. There's a lot of young fireballers brought in to create for the final spots or spot. Fox is a must roster filler in AAA or insurance in case of a rash of injuries. He cost the Cubs nothing. This worked well for the Cards last year with Troy Percvial. We don't even have an update on Fox's health yet he might be hitting in the 90's again for all we know or not. people want to blast hendry. That's about it. They get mad when he spends money on relief help instead of throwing crap for dirt cheap against the wall and seeing what sticks and what doesn't. Then when he adopts this strategy. They get mad that he's signing crap for dirt cheap.
  2. Answer: Ned Colletti worships at the temple of Sabean. Which means if a player isn't collecting Social Security he sucks.
  3. again Keppinger? Why is Keppinger a improvement over theriot? There's a reason he's been let go by three teams in 3 years and two of them was using Angel ******* Berroa and Alex Gonzales at SS. I'd rather overpay and you know get someone good.
  4. Remind me isn't lofton lefthanded and the over the last couple years been rather ineffective vs. lefties how would he make a decent platoon?
  5. We need to keep Theriot as long as possible. Just for my ability to make fun of my friend who dropped his first major league HR with a glove Will Ohman said during BP was the biggest glove he ever saw in his life.
  6. What a great offer Silva is just like Carlos except better
  7. Greene AND DeRosa at SS? Sweet zombie Jesus, talk about a brain cramp. Sorry, DeRo, you must sit down. Hey leave me out of this
  8. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/cardinals/story/9E04A758BD1CF235862573AC0018F0A8?OpenDocument Let's hope they do. They'll win 75 games instead of just 70, and have an even more bleak future. Mozeliak is oblivious. I'd love for them to trade Rasmus and Reyes for 2 years of Bedard. If that's all it takes to get Bedard I hope Jimbo throws Hill and Colvin along with guys rumored to get Roberts to get both Bedard and Roberts. I'd even be willing to throw a third prospect if necessary.
  9. If the choices are really between Rowand and Fukudome, I'll take Fukudome. Either one would give the Cubs the option of playing them in RF or CF which is really important if they plan on bringing up Pie, but Kosuke has less of an injury history, likely better OBP, probably equally good defense if not slightly better than Rowand. Signing Fukudome will be a risk, most certainly, but there is only one way to find out if he's going to be more like Hideki or Kaz. Here's hoping he is signed by the end of the week. At the end of the season, pretty much everyone felt that an infusion of OBP at the top of the order and moving Soriano down is what the Cubs should realistically do this off season to improve their offense. Now it looks like they have a chance to do exactly that with Fukudome and Roberts. Come on, Jim. Except it should be either Aki Iwamura or Hideki Matsui. Fukudome walked a lot more in japan than Kaz. I just hope Fukudome can slug better than Iwamura's sub .420 next year.
  10. Does this effect the pick we get for Kendall?
  11. When he was with Boston? the entire career. Uh, they are completely two different players. One was is a OBP centered guy with mediocre power. The other is a guy with big power and a mediocre OBP. Bradley's never hit more than 46 XBH in a single season. Dawson did that 15 freaking times. Not to mention he was the probably the NL's best CF for the during the 77-83 seasons. Also, Dawson doesn't make SamueL L. Jackson in unbreakable seem durable like Bradley does.
  12. I'm just trying to think how the Twins got Santana...hmmm, let me think. I'm just trying to remember if every Rule 5 pitcher ever drafted ended up being equal to or closely equal to Santana in skill. Maybe not but Hamilton seemed to work out nicely as well. :-" Roberto Clemente worked out even better. Wasn't Bobby Abreu a Rule V guy? Or was he just an expansion draft guy?
  13. They wouldn't settle for less than Hill. and I wouldn't settle than anything less than Kemp for Hill
  14. Is Aaron Rowand really a sure thing in your opinion? I'd guess he's a sure thing to produce slightly better results than Kaz Matsui then yes he's a sure thing. wait we're still talking about the guy who had a .329 OBP and 93 OPS+ in 2005, and .321 OBP and 86 OPS+ in 2006, right? Those are better than Kaz Matsui's or am I mistaken? For the record I think Fuku's a much safer bet than Rowand. At worst the cubs get a Iwamura that's bad for twelve mill per but it's better than rowand.

  16. Actually, a better analogy would be Boston doing a favor for either Tampa Bay, Baltimore or Toronto. Don't know if you really think this, but Cincinnati isn't the Cubs main division rival. With Milwaukee playing well, I would even consider Cincinnati our second division rival. They are probably our third. Those toothless hillbillies about 300 miles south on I-55 are our main divisional rival.
  17. I thought the only reason they put him in center was to play Cust in RF have Piazza at DH ergo not putting Piazza behind the dish. Not that I care I own him my keeper league and I like his CF eligibility
  18. Wut? Hamilton has never been accused of roids. He had a problem with coke. I thought it was Heroin and coke
  19. what's the point in getting him unless we move Pie for starting pitching/SS help? He'll probably hit lefties better than Pie but he certainly won't hit righties as well.
  20. Yup, because the Cubs could not use a good player like crawford. oh, they were just going to give him to the cubs? the cubs weren't going to have to give up, say, rich hill to get him? well, if that's the case, i take it back. I'm unsure if I'd give up Hill to get him. Hill is a tad overrated. He's a above average pitcher but if he was in the AL he's not even in the discussion of top five or six lefties in the AL. In the NL he may very well be the best lefty not named Hamels. That alone tells you how weak the level of play is right now in the NL.
