  1. nah not likely, TSN prefers defense over offense.
  2. I heard Bavasi doesn't know what sideburns really are and now the trade is off. Also Brian Roberts has radiation poisioning apparently
  3. I doubt that did you see the contract Carlos Silva just got? Crappy innings eaters cost 10 mill a year minimum in today's market. You're not gonna get a top level prospect for him but someone would take him.
  4. my "source" tells me Roberts is coming over for a unfridgerated sandwich MacPhail apparently believes the conservative sandwich-heavy portfolio pays of for the hungry GM.
  5. Anybody else like me picturing a rookie reporter from the Sun sitting in his car outside Bedards house all day eating donuts waiting to see if he leaves the house... That's actually Omar
  6. Not an insider, some guy who is making sure to preface everything by saying it's probably false. His post started out with this: That "some guy" is supposedly Roy Firestone... though considering how much trouble he has not sounding like a 13 year old, I sincerely doubt it is. What does a guy that makes automobile tires know about baseball?
  7. Since when did Rick Porcello change his name to Matt Wieters?
  8. I think the sentence following your bolded part is more telling than anything else Lou said. I wonder what, exactly, he's referring to. Yeah, that's a strange line. Growing up in Venezuela probably isn't the most ideal lifestyle. Is he showing up to Wrigley in a clown suit everyday? Please explain. I think he's referring to his reported all-night-party attitude there. Or as I like to call him http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a30/Halman/Cubs/RONNYWK.jpg
  9. Why don't we just use that offer to get Jimmy Rollins? Our lineup will be super awesome then! Because the Phillies wouldn't take that offer, thats a horrible offer, but for some reason, Toronto has a thing for both Dempster and DeRosa, so them plus a solid pitching prospect may be enough for an injury prone #2. If thats not enough add Ceda. A starting 2B, a piece of poop, and 2 good minor leaguers for an injury prone #2 seems fair. Toronto has a thing for guys under contract for some time. While dumping a guy who has a 99.9% chance of opting out of his contract at the end of the year. Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of the opt-out clause that Burnett has. If we got him, would you guys extend him? Lots of talent, but still a risk. Only way he doesn't test the FA market next fall is if his arm completely falls off and is eaten by a shark before they can reattach it.

  11. That's like saying you would rather have a stab wound to the stomach that you kills you rather than a shot in the back of the head execution style. Either way you are going to die it's one's just a slower much more painful death.
  12. Hooray another SABR vs. anti SABR arguement ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
  13. His walk rate is roughly the same. His real problem is he just doesn't hit 300 or for any sort of power anymore since steroid testing has came into effect.
  14. Did you forget they were offering Lester, Crisp, Flotsam and Jetsam for Santana earlier this winter. He might be the most overrated player in the majors. I'd rather sign Corey over trading something for Crisp they are essentially the same player. and when I mean the same player they are both really 680-730 OPS type CFs with above average D. Corey is a straight lefty but plays better defense and has a much better arm IMO. Crisp has a slightly better bat and patience and is a switch hitter Crisp is significantly better defensively, and may be the best defensive CF in the game. His UZR is up there with Adam Everett. Plus his approach at the plate is much more conducive to him returning to his previous success offensively, unlike Patterson. The previous year Patterson was tops in the AL in RZR and Crisp was dead last amoung qualifiers. Either way I don't want either of them and I certainly wouldn't be giving up a 2 players to get him.
  15. I agree however, I'm not going to give up two major league ready or near ready players for Brian Roberts. I'd do Gallagher/Pie and young guy with potential.
  16. Corey could provide just as much and you are not giving up Wuertz and Murton. Heck, Pie could probably do that too next year in a full time role. Crisp blows and it's probably likely his power is never coming back with steroid testing.
  17. I would guess that's probably more of a dig at what the Twins received for Santana than it is a prediction as to the value of any package the Cubs will give up for Roberts. Here's a later question: Please no Jim. They can have Pie or Gallagher, not both. That's way too much. if that's what it takes I hope Hendry tells his pal to go jump off a bridge we already overpaid for Trachsel's rotting corpse last year.

  20. No no no. Epstein probably wants Gallagher and Colvin for Coco.
  21. That's what happens when it's apparent you can't play CF, get on base at 400-370ish clip and lose all your power. He looks like a prime juiced candidate
  22. yep --Even if we go to camp with this team, I bet we'll add one or two new players before the start of the season. Yeah, crappy NRIs if/when someone gets hurt. --No. Hendry will make a trade. Hopefully, it wont be as bad as the Dontrelle Willis trade. Yeah that trade was horrible. Cueto, Jorgenson, and Taverez were awesome also. Matt Clement sucked ass. If Willis doesn't have his 2005 that's a push trade maybe slightly in the Cubs favor.
  23. No, Ellsbury is David Dejesus with speed. I wouldn't trade Pie for him.
  24. You don't even have to look at that. Look at his numbers the last year his shoulder is held together by masking tape and silly putty
