    Hard to be bitter when your team is actually in the playoff race. oh zing...the great $100 mil cubs are a game over .500 and 4 1/2 games ahead of the $30 mil pirates. you sure showed him. And yet the Cubs are still very much in the playoff race while the Pirates are still pretty much out of it. Man I'll sure feel dumb if my team with a way bigger payroll only does a little bit better than them but makes the playoffs. Whatever was I thinking!?

    Touche I never said that. But, to say those three guys are more deserving? THat sounds bitter. Let me ask: Which one of them would you NOT trade straight up for Sanchez? Incidentally, Snell & Gorzo certainly deserved to go more, and Freddy will be the first one to tell you that. Fair enough, although I'd probably be hard pressed to trade DeRosa straight up (and he has had a better year than Sanchez this season). The more deserving comment sounded a lot more like fan bias than bitterness to me though. Also, props on living at wherever you live in the lovely city of Philadelphia.

    Hard to be bitter when your team is actually in the playoff race. And that makes it sound like you think Sanchez was the most deserving Pirate to go, which for your sake, I pray is not the case.

    If Lou is wanting to keep Pie's confidence up like he claims, he's not going to throw him back into the lineup against a left-hander where Pie is going to have an almost certain 0-4. The only chance for Pie to start before the break is tomorrow. Totally forgot Maholm was a lefty :(

    I've really liked Ward in small doses. While I'd never want to see him be anything more than a bench player, it seems like hes been really effective when filling in for people.

    News as of 7/18, from Rotoworld: As of 7/19: Wood went 1.0 IP with 1 H 0 R/ER 1 K and 0 BB with 1 GO and 0 FO. He will pitch again on Saturday. As of 7/21: Wood: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 SO, 1 E This may well be his last start at Mesa. Sounds like he'll be moved up in the minors.

    I know a lot of people are worried that the Cubs won't be buyers at the deadline because of the pending sale, but looks like it might be the opposite. Good news for the playoff race. A good article from Bruce. Definitely worth the read. Lots of good stuff in there. That all sounds great, but we've already had one transaction shot down by Selig. Who's to say it won't happen again? I'm concerned. MLB and Hendry both refuted the rumors that Selig stopped the trade. I fail to see the big deal about the Jones trade. It looked to me like Hendry just felt he was getting screwed and that he might have been counting on better offers.
