  1. Would anyone even actually care if the Cubs got anything but peanuts for Jones? Just get him the heck out of there. Hell throw Izzy in as a consolation prize.
  2. What does that mean for the Cubs? They will suck for 99 more years. Anyone actually able to confirm that all this would affect the sale of the Cubs?
  3. Because Blanco is on the shelf, maybe for the year, and Hill sucks. The Cubs need two catchers right now. I would be surprised if Bowen is the full-time starter. I wouldn't
  4. Traitor. b& plz
  5. You do realize it's tough to judge NINETEEN YEAR OLD minor leaguers based on stats in Low ball right? Man you are the king of hyperbole. It's tough, but the guy's stats do not inspire much hope in me. Cripes, he's barely hitting over .200 and has a BABIP of .321. The man raises a good point. And badger, I believe you're looking for Soriano12 with that title.
  6. Should we start a "curse of the McDonalds commercials"? First Pierre, now Barrett. Next Big Z... Can we sew a giant M to Jones' uni in that case?
  7. That wishful thinking as unfortunately Hill didn't accompany Barrett to SD. Also, I really hope this isn't the last trade that sees a player who needed to leave, leave.
  8. I could not agree more with every part of this. I was calling for them to solidify RF and/or SS for next year and let Barrett walk, going with placeholders at C if need be. So, if they swing a deal that solidifies RF and/or SS and stick with these placeholders at C, I won't be upset. But the most important part of all that is solidifying RF and/or SS. The Cubs remain last in the NL in SS OPS, by an extremely wide margin. And Theriot is doing nothing to change that. They are 11th in the NL in RF OPS, but it's still sub 700. More Floyd might bring some stability, but that's still a position of weakness. QFT

  10. Because everyone on here would be the best GM in the history of the game. I guess spewing hyperbole and arguing over facts not actually confirmed counts as talking baseball these days. Come on, CT. Who else is going to be included that will make this trade different? We know it's Bowen and a prospect. The Padres system is a known quantity and it's not that strong. It's Barrett for Bowen and a mid-level prospect. I'm sorry for waiting for sources I trust. While the reports of Bowen and Burke are true, this is not always the case. I'm just skeptical by nature I suppose and prefer to wait until I have actual confirmation before I go off making assumptions and thus avoid ranting about how Hendry's an idiot for trading EPatt. People are going to discuss things based on the information they have. No need to get your feathers all ruffled about it. Actually that was me mocking, not being upset.

  12. this is a message board. people over react. how is this suprising to you? Did I say I was surprised?

  14. How can people criticize a deal they don't actually know all the details of? I love this board.
  15. 1.) In case you haven't noticed, Barrett hasn't been that "good" on offense this season. 2.) Bowen is said to have great defense. 3.) He was leaving this year anyway so the Cubs actually made money off this. But I guess hyperbole is so much more fun...
  16. I love the people getting upset without actually knowing the details.
  17. Damn! That's pretty flippin' perfect! I know! They're a horrible pair but they totally redeemed themselves with my new favorite word.
  18. The Rangers team just called him "Marmolous" I actually kinda like that.
